Zircon and Epin are well known to orchid owners. They are effective remedies and solve most of the problems associated with growing flowers. Each of the drugs has its own healing properties, which together give a powerful healing effect. The formulations have a broad spectrum of action and are very easy to use. Let's consider the features of their use.

Features of drugs

The Epin compound, also known as Epin-Extra, is a drug that is strong adaptogen and growth regulator... It has a powerful anti-stress effect and is indicated for use in the attack on the orchid of insect pests, planned transplantation, frost and flooding of the territory in which the flower grows. Thanks to "Epin" flowers experience much less stress and take root better in a new place.

The use of "Epin" for seeds and seedlings also gives good results: treated bushes bloom longer and become more resistant to temperature extremes. Moreover, the plants begin remove heavy metals, nitrates faster and other harmful compounds. This is due to the presence in the composition of the preparation of natural components present in the cells of a healthy plant. Therefore, the fears of many novice florists about the harm of "Epin" are absolutely groundless.

According to its medicinal and restorative properties, "Epin" is somewhat inferior to "Zircon", however, as a preventive, general strengthening and supporting agent, it suits orchids perfectly well.

In addition, the drug is excellent biostimulant and can be used for any indoor plants. After its application, the flowers noticeably revive, quickly build up the green mass and better resist diseases and pests.

The powerful healing effect of "Epin" is due to the presence in its composition of epibrassinolide, which stimulates biochemical processes at the cellular level. The advantages include the absence of serious consequences for the plant in case of accidental overdose. The main disadvantage is considered rapid destruction of the drug in the light.

The drug "Zircon" has more pronounced therapeutic effect... It promotes root formation, induction of flowering and enhances plant immunity. "Zircon" is recommended for use when transplanting orchids, when soaking bulbs, seeds and cuttings, as well as when watering the soil substrate and spraying the ground part of plants.

The drug is an excellent growth stimulant, has an anti-stress effect on the flower, can be used as strong fungicide and effective antiviral agent... Orchids treated with "Zircon" are half the size of others suffer from powdery mildew and ailments caused by rotting of the root system.

The use of "Zircon" helps to increase the root mass three times compared to the original and significantly increases the duration of orchid flowering.

This is due to the fact that the drug activates the processes of photosynthesis and has a powerful adaptogenic effect. Means not addictive and, unlike other formulations, has a gentle effect, working very carefully.

Among the disadvantages of "Zircon" can be noted its neutralization in alkaline environments and death of the plant in case of overdose... In order to avoid neutralization of the drug with ordinary tap water with a high pH level, it is recommended to dilute it only with boiled liquid, adding a little citric acid to it.

Differences

Despite the large number of common properties, there are still differences in drugs.

  • Compared to "Zircon", which has much more opportunities, "Epin" has a narrower spectrum of action.
  • "Epin" is used exclusively for spraying. It is not absorbed by the root system. "Zircon" is absorbed by all parts of the plant and can be used both for watering and for foliar treatment.
  • Digestibility and excretion from the plant "Zircon" takes about a day, while for the assimilation of "Epin" it takes about two weeks.
  • "Epin" is more used as a supportive agent, which helps orchids to endure adverse environmental conditions, and also as a preventive drug against many diseases. "Zircon" is used for the treatment of serious ailments, and sometimes for the resuscitation of sick and damaged flowers.

Application methods

The use of "Epin" and "Zircon" does not cause difficulties even for novice florists. The main thing is to carefully read the instructions and strictly observe the dosage.

  • "Epin" is available in 1 ml ampoules. One ampoule is diluted with five liters of water and mixed thoroughly. To do this, take only boiled water, since raw water is dangerous for "Epin" alkaline environment. Plants are treated exclusively by spraying.

For the treatment of cuttings, as well as soaking the bulbs and seeds, the ampoule is diluted in a liter of water. The process of soaking bulbs lasts 24 hours, cuttings - 12 hours. If it is necessary to process the seeds, then proceed as follows: the solution is poured into a non-food container and a cotton bag containing the seeds is placed in it. After 10 hours, the bag is removed and the seeds are planted. When using old seeds, the soaking period can be increased to 24 hours.

  • Zircon is bred in several ways. So, for preventive purposes, 0.25 ml of the drug is diluted in one liter of water. If orchids with weakened roots are to be treated, then half the ampoule of the substance is mixed with a liter of water. To speed up the flowering process and increase the vitality of orchids, they take 0.2 ml of substance per liter of liquid.

Preventive treatment is performed once every two months, while watering the orchid abundantly. The diseased plant is sprayed weekly with a solution until signs of recovery appear. To stimulate flowering, it is enough to water the orchid with a weak solution of "Zircon" no more than twice a month.

The only limitation on the use of both drugs is plant hibernation. It is forbidden to bring an orchid out of dormancy with their help.

The flower itself must slowly move out of sleep and return to a full life. It is possible to spray or water the flower with fortifying preparations only after it enters the active phase of the growing season.

Storage rules

Unopened ampoules of "Epin" should store in a cool, dark place. The diluted solution is stored at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees for no more than two days. Vials with "Zircon" should also be kept in a dark place, limiting access to them for children and animals. Unused opened ampoules are suitable for use within three days provided they are in a closed container.

However, it should be borne in mind that every day the effectiveness of the drug in the opened ampoule decreases. The shelf life of both drugs at temperatures from -5 to 25 degrees is 3 years.
