The cucumber variety Zasolochny has good immunity and fertility. In this article, we will analyze its characteristics, the nuances of care and proper fit.
Breeding history
The variety arose in 1999 thanks to the works of domestic breeders L.P. Malychenko and A.M. Popova, and in 2000 it was allowed for use. Pickled cucumber entered the State Register for the Central Black Earth and Lower Volga regions.
Description of the variety
The variety belongs to indeterminate, bee-pollinated and has a mixed flowering type. Salting, although it belongs to medium-sized, can grow quite high, up to 2 meters, therefore it needs a garter of vertical or mixed types.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
The bush has long lashes and medium branching, large, rich green leaves. The fruits reach 11.2-11.4 cm in length and almost 4 cm in diameter. The mass of one green leaf is 100-125 g. Cucumbers have a large tuberous surface with black thorns.
Purpose and taste of fruits
The variety has a table purpose: it is well suited for salads, pickling, canning, fresh consumption.
The cucumber has a good taste, 4-5 points.
Maturation
Pickled cucumber is considered a medium early variety. The period from the first shoots to fruiting takes 45-47 days.
Yield
The yield of this variety is high. Average rate: 114-226 kg / ha. The cucumber has a good marketability, and it tolerates transportation well.
Landing scheme
A distance of 40 cm is maintained between the bushes and rows. This scheme is followed both when planting in open ground and in a greenhouse. The holes should be small - 3 centimeters are enough. 2 seeds are placed in each of them in case one of them does not germinate or turns out to be weaker than the other.
Growing and care
For the cultivation of Pickled Cucumber, fertile loamy soils with neutral acidity are well suited. Good drainage is important for the variety. Cucumbers grow well both when planted in open ground and when planted in a greenhouse or greenhouse.
In the first case, preparation begins in the fall. The site is dug to a depth of 30-40 cm, weeds are removed, and compost is added (2-3 buckets per 1 m2). Additionally, gardeners recommend adding wood ash (half a liter jar per 1 m2). In the spring, it is necessary to loosen the soil a little, humus and mineral fertilizers (potassium-phosphorus or superphosphate) are added if desired.
Planting is carried out when the soil is warmed up to + 13 ... 15 degrees, at the end of May. The seeds are preliminarily treated with a growth stimulant (the day before planting), and the soil is loosened, disinfected and fertilized. After planting the seed and good watering, the ground is covered with foil or agrofibre. In the event of sudden frosts, the site is provided with a temporary shelter.
If you need to plant cucumbers earlier and, accordingly, get a harvest a week earlier, planting is carried out by seedling in early May.
Before planting, the seeds must be examined. Reliable firms sell them already processed. Otherwise, the material must be soaked in a solution of potassium permanganate.
With the seedling method, the seeds can be planted in peat pots, and with sufficient growth at the stage of planting in the ground, they can be planted with them, or in plastic cups filled with drainage at the base (for example, expanded clay) and soil mixed with humus and wood ash.The seeded pots are left in a dry, dark place, covered with foil. After about 7 days, the first shoots appear, and the seedlings are transferred to a lighted place. At the same time, the number of irrigation approaches increases.
For irrigation, you need settled, preferably natural, slightly warm water. This is an important condition, since cold liquids destroy the root system, weaken the already fragile system of plant branches. The bushes are watered either in the morning or in the evening. The number of approaches decreases with the duration of the first summer rains. If they are extremely lingering, or, conversely, there is a strong heat in the region, the roots are sprinkled with earth by 15-20 cm.
During flowering and fruiting, Salting needs additional feeding. Both proven mineral fertilizers such as mullein or chicken manure, and complex mineral fertilizers are suitable. 2-3 dressings are applied every 7 days.
Zelentsy are harvested every 2-3 days, but this does not mean that with the arrival of the harvest, the arsenal of your shovels and the rake goes to the side. To prevent many diseases and prevent the spread of parasites, as well as to sufficiently saturate the earth with soil and balanced development of the root system, the soil must be periodically loosened, removing weeds.
Pickling also needs proper shaping. Unnecessary and weak shoots are pinched - otherwise they will interfere with the development of the main branches. Pickling bushes are formed in a multi-stem method. After the formation of the 5th leaf on the main vine, it is pinched, and the lateral stems enter into active growth.
The bushes are tied up with trellises, twines or other traditional methods. Pickling grows well vertically, which allows you to place the bushes so that they are well lit and do not interfere with each other. If the garter is carried out in a mixed way, the branches are placed at an angle of at least 60 degrees with respect to the main stem.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Disease and pest resistance
The Zasolochny variety has good immunity, more or less tolerates downy mildew and common powdery mildew and some non-serious diseases.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
