A universal hybrid short-fruited cucumber variety with the self-explanatory name Temp has a record-breaking short ripening period. But this is not his only merit. He fell in love with gardeners not only for its early maturity, but also for its excellent taste, a magnificent fresh vitamin aroma, which is so necessary for all of us at the beginning of summer. It is also very beautiful and fits perfectly into preservation jars.
Breeding history
Cucumber Temp appeared on private and farm plantations in the early 2000s and was immediately appreciated by farmers. The culture can be counted among the clear achievements of the Russian school of breeding. Its creator, breeder from the SEMKO-YUNIOR company, Yu. B. Alekseev, received as a result of his labors a short-fruited hybrid (these are such variations of cucumbers as pickles and gherkins) with clear signs of early maturity, which demonstrates high yields. The year 2006 was marked for culture by its inclusion in the lists of the State Register for the Russian Federation, and the variety was patented by the Moscow agrofirm-originator "SEMKO-JUNIOR".
Description of the variety
The short-fruited hybrid variety Temp was specially bred for cultivation in film greenhouses, in glass structures and even on loggias. It does not need insect participation for pollination, and it produces good yields no matter under what conditions it is grown. Drought, excessive watering, and rainy weather do not harm the culture.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
Cucumber variety Temp is parthenocarpic. The liana of the plant branches weakly; during flowering, only female flowers appear on the plant. The type of growth of a culture is always indeterminate. The plant forms several flower clusters. Small leaves are painted in intense green color. In each sinus, it is possible to form an ovary for 2-5 cucumbers.
The Temp variety is a supplier of pickles such as pickles. Their size can be from 3 to 5 centimeters, and there are also gherkins with sizes of 7-9 centimeters. On average, the weight of each cucumber can be from 70 to 80 grams. The zelents are cylindrical in shape, with a short neck, as well as small tubercles. Their color is green, there are light stripes and light light pubescence.
Purpose and taste of fruits
Vegetable growers and ordinary consumers note that ripe cucumbers are very tasty, crispy, juicy, fragrant, their skin is tender. Zelentsy varieties Temp grow all the same, one-dimensional, looking neat. It is very convenient to preserve them in jars.
Maturation
Confirming its name, the Temp cucumber variety is distinguished by its rapidity of ripening. So, already 43 days after the friendly shoots, you can start harvesting gherkins. Those who wish to receive pickles collect them after 37 days.
Yield
On average, 14.3 kilograms of fruit can be removed from 1 square meter of crop planting.
Growing regions
The cucumber hybrid variety is recommended by the State Register for cultivation in such regions as:
- North and Northwest;
- Central and Central Black Earth;
- Volgo-Vyatka, North Caucasian,
- Middle Volga.
Growing and care
Tempo is a rather unpretentious cucumber variety. However, the plant will still need some care. So, the beds with the culture must be watered, loosened after that, and also fed, and weeds must be fought.Despite the fact that the Temp hybrid was bred specifically for indoor cultivation, the crop yields a fairly good harvest even on open land.
For this growing method, the seedling method is used. You can start cultivating cucumbers in early April. Peat pots or tablets are well suited for planting hybrid seeds, because the delicate roots of cucumbers do not tolerate picking well.
After the weather is rather warm, and the return of frost is reduced to zero, you can begin to plant the grown cucumber seedlings in a permanent place. To transplant seedlings to an open bed, the soil must warm up to +15 degrees Celsius.
For cucumber beds, they choose the corner of the site where cabbage grew last season, as well as potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, eggplants. You can not plant cucumbers where pumpkins or zucchini previously grew. Cucumber beds should be arranged on the sunny side of the site. It is very important to prevent light-loving plants from shading. But if there is no hope for a sunny summer, it is better not to experiment, but to plant Temp cucumbers in a greenhouse prescribed by the State Register.
The ideal layout for a hybrid is 60 by 20 centimeters. So, up to 4 plants will grow per square meter, but this is the maximum. It is even better to place 2-3 bushes on such an area. The yield in this case will be higher.
Varietal cucumbers are watered in the evenings, only with warm water. Fertilizing a hybrid includes three steps. The first is immediately after planting in the greenhouse, the second is at the flowering stage, the third is in the process of fruiting. Top dressing is carried out with mineral fertilizers, mullein or bird droppings.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Disease and pest resistance
The hybrid variety is almost not affected by brown spot and powdery mildew, but can be exposed to the cucumber mosaic virus. Basically, Temp is resistant to all common cucumber diseases.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
