Even 10 years ago, gherkins were not grown in the Russian Federation. Even today, real gherkins with cucumbers no more than 6 cm are a rarity. However, parthenocarpic cucumbers are increasingly called gherkins. They are small-fruited, very tasty, ideal for salting.
Description of the variety
Siberian Bouquet is a versatile parthenocarpic hybrid with perfectly shaped fruits and excellent yield. The variety is difficult to notice only because parthenocarpic cucumbers are now in vogue, a lot of new varieties are constantly appearing. But the Siberian bouquet is in no way inferior to the well-known pair of cucumbers Mother-in-law F1 and Zyatek F1. Do not confuse a hybrid with a Siberian garland cucumber, Siberian bundle, Bouquet or Siberian mixture. Cucumber Siberian bouquet is not included in the State Register of the Russian Federation.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
The bush is medium-sized, 50-150 cm tall. Female flowers, 3-5 pcs. in the node.
Fruits are short, no more than 8-10 cm, beautiful cylindrical shape. Zelentsy are not thick, very neat, the mass of 1 fruit is 45-50 g. This is 2 times less than that of varieties with pot-bellied cucumbers. The peel is dark green with lighter stripes at the bottom of the fruit, mounds of medium or small size, frequent.
Purpose and taste of fruits
The fruits are tasty, the skin is not bitter, it has a sweet, fragrant taste. The pulp is juicy and crispy. The variety is versatile: equally well suited for rolling and fresh consumption. For banquet cuts or salad decoration, large-fruited cucumbers are used, but for other purposes, parthenocarpic ones are well suited. They are cut into salads, cocktails, snacks, drinks are prepared from them. Small, even cucumbers look great when salted, retain their shape, freshness and taste.
The lack of bitterness in the fruits of the variety is genetically determined, that is, it does not depend on care.
Maturation
The variety is early, the cucumbers are harvested 40-45 days after the emergence of mass shoots.
Yield
The yield is excellent, on a par with commercial varieties - up to 30 kg per 1 sq. m. It is better to collect parthenocarpic cucumbers daily or at least once every 2-3 days - there will be even more of them.
Growing regions
The variety is sold in Siberian series, therefore it is well adapted to the conditions of Siberia or the north. However, there are no regional restrictions.
Landing scheme
The variety is medium-sized, therefore 35-40 cm are kept between the plants, in the aisles you can leave the same distance or make it larger - for ease of maintenance. In greenhouses, where the air is dense and less windy, plants can be planted in 2-3 pieces. for 1 sq. m. In the open field, you can plant a variety more often - 4-5 pcs. for 1 sq. m.
Growing and caring
The variety is suitable for any growing scheme: in the open field, under temporary film shelters, in greenhouses. Sowed from January to May, depending on the conditions and the desired harvest time. If planting is carried out in open ground, it is necessary for the soil to warm up to + 15 ° С, at night the temperature was not less than + 8 ° С. Like all cucumbers, the variety loves an even warm temperature, proper watering, feeding.
Small-fruited cucumbers are watered even more often than ordinary ones. In dry summers, daily watering is needed. If there is a strong heat, up to + 30 ° C and above, you will need two watering times: evening and morning. The yield of the plant directly depends on watering.
There is no need to feed plants planted in warm beds with fresh manure. But even in this case, leaf feeding is useful. The plant responds well to spraying with microelements (boron, zinc, magnesium, calcium, potassium) or ordinary ash solution. Plants are processed in cloudy weather, the leaves are sprayed from above and below, stems, ovaries.
Soil requirements
All cucumbers love loose, very nutritious, warm soil. In dense clay soils, plants begin to hurt, develop poorly.
Too dense soils are loosened by introducing coarse-grained river sand (it is important to use non-construction sand), vermiculite, perlite, rotten sawdust, fine gravel, humus or chopped straw.
Too acidic add chalk, slaked lime, dolomite flour. Sifted wood ash slightly reduces acidity. The optimum acidity for a cucumber is 6-7 pH.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Disease and pest resistance
Subject to agricultural technology, the variety does not get sick. For prophylaxis, cucumbers are sprayed with "Fitosporin", an ash solution or milk whey diluted in water several times a season. With the correct planting density, watering, taking into account the air temperature, the causative agents of powdery mildew or cladosporiosis have little chance.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
Review overview
There are few reviews, but they are all positive. The variety is liked primarily by its taste. The fruits are always aromatic-sweet, without bitterness, very appetizing. Add to this a bouquet type of flowering, an unpretentious, moderately active plant that can not be pinched - and we get an ideal early cucumber for small household farms.
