The Shosha cucumber variety was registered relatively recently - in 2018, but has already won the sympathy of many gardeners. This type of culture is appreciated for its unpretentiousness, pleasant taste and high yield.
Description of the variety
The Shosha variety is parthenocarpic, that is, its reproduction is carried out without the participation of male specimens. He is not afraid of sudden changes in temperature and does not have special requirements for planting and care. The hybrid variety has female-type inflorescences, at the node of which no more than 1-2 bright yellow flowers are formed. The plant grows best in the sun, but it can grow in partial shade. An annual that belongs to lettuce is suitable for growing both in the open and in closed ground under a temporary film cover.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
The lashes of a medium-sized cucumber can stretch up to 1.5 meters, and the main stem reaches a length of 1.5-2 meters. Medium-branching shoots are covered with small green leaves. The roots of the culture are powerful. In each node of the plant, from 1 to 3 zelents are formed, which indicates a well-developed root system. Fruits of the Shosha variety are small in size, cylindrical in shape and green in color. The surface of the bumpy thin skin is covered with white fluff; a slight waxy coating is also possible. The length of the cucumber does not go beyond 9-11 centimeters, and the diameter varies from 3 to 3.5 centimeters. The mass of one green leaf is about 60-70 grams, but in some cases it reaches 85 grams.
Purpose and taste of fruits
The variety is suitable both for fresh consumption and for conservation and salting. The dense, crispy and juicy pulp of the fruit does not taste bitter and is characterized by the presence of a pleasant, slightly sweetish aftertaste. The advantage is the absence of voids in the sections. Cucumbers have an attractive presentation, easily tolerate transportation and demonstrate good keeping quality. The seeds, despite the fact that they are present in large quantities, do not spoil the taste of cucumbers and are practically not felt.
Maturation
Shosha belongs to the early maturing varieties. From germination to the start of harvesting, it takes about 39-43 days.
Yield
A gardener can harvest from 12 to 18 kilograms of cucumber hybrid fruit from each square meter of beds, which is considered above average. As a rule, the yield on the open field is lower than on the protected one. Average indicators - 14.3 kg per square.
Growing and care
The Shosha variety is grown either by seedlings, or with the help of seeds, which are sown immediately in greenhouses. The first method is considered more preferable, since the seedlings get the opportunity to get stronger before getting into a stressful situation. To implement the planting method, seedling soil is prepared or a mixture of turf, humus, peat and sand, taken in a ratio of 2: 1: 1: 1. The soil mixture must be disinfected by impregnating with a slightly pink solution of potassium permanganate or by hardening for several days in a freezer ... The seeds are deepened by 1 centimeter, after which the container is tightened with cling film until shoots appear.
It usually takes about 4 weeks from sowing seeds to planting plants in open ground. Thus, the movement of cucumbers to a permanent habitat is carried out no earlier than mid-April, when the temperature will stably stay at +16 degrees.Previously, the soil is dug up together with humus and chicken droppings. Landing is carried out in such a way that for each square meter there are no more than 3-4 copies.
Sowing seeds immediately on the ground is also carried out somewhere in the middle of April. Onions with garlic, legumes and cabbage are the optimal precursors for the crop. Three weeks before planting, the soil is fed with organic matter, including peat and dolomite flour. Seeds at this time are selected: they are soaked in warm water and separated from those that have surfaced, that is, they turned out to be of poor quality.
In the future, the Shosha cucumbers will need easy care. You will need to irrigate the plant in moderation, but on a regular basis. So, it is customary to water with warm water twice a week, and in case of heat - three times a week. It is important to avoid waterlogging of the soil. Liquid fertilizers are most suitable for feeding. It is customary to introduce them once at the beginning of flowering, and then 4 times during fruiting with a ten-day break. Mineral complexes and humic fertilizers, as well as organic matter, are suitable for cucumbers.
Weeding vegetables is required once a week, and loosening as needed. Pinching will become important components of care, that is, the removal of thin and non-fruiting shoots, as well as pinching the top.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Disease and pest resistance
The Shosha variety is immune to major crop diseases. In other words, it is able to withstand the pathogens of powdery mildew, mosaic and spotting, as well as the virus that provokes the yellowing of cucumber veins.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
