Hybrid types of cucumbers are very popular among summer residents and farmers, which bring high yields without requiring too intensive agricultural technology. One of these varieties is the Patti vegetable crop, bred by domestic breeders.
Breeding history
Patti is a medium early variety obtained by the scientists of the Sedek agricultural company in 2004. The authorship belongs to well-known breeders - M. I. Kirillov, S. V. Dubinin and I. N. Dubinina. The hybrid appeared in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 2008. The vegetable culture is zoned in the Central Black Earth region. The hybrid is cultivated in garden beds, as well as under film shelters. In addition, cucumbers can even be grown on a balcony or windowsill.
Description of the variety
Cucumber Patti is a vigorous bush of indeterminate type (stem with unlimited growth), characterized by good climbing, moderate thickening with large, dark green leaves and a powerful central stem.
During the flowering period, bright yellow female-type flowers appear on the plant. The ovaries on the bushes are formed in the form of bunches, where there are practically no barren flowers. The variety belongs to self-pollinating plants that do not need additional pollination by insects.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
This species is characterized by good commercial qualities. Cucumbers grow flat and miniature. On average, green plants ripen on the bushes weighing 58-89 grams and up to 10-11.5 cm long. The shape of vegetables is correct - cylindrical or oval-cylindrical. The ripe vegetable has a dark green color, diluted with short, light stripes. The rind of a green leaf is of moderate density, covered with small tubercles and prickly thorns.
Having harvested, it is worth remembering that Patti's cucumbers do not have a good keeping quality, so they must be eaten immediately or processed into salads, preparations. You can transport vegetables over long distances.
Purpose and taste of fruits
Medium early cucumbers are endowed with excellent taste. Cucumber pulp is characterized by a dense, fleshy, tender, crispy, juicy structure without voids and wateriness. The taste of the vegetable is slightly sweet, pleasant, and the aroma is refreshing. It should be noted that there is no bitterness in the taste, the seeds are medium-sized, without hardness.
The purpose of the vegetable is universal - they eat cucumbers fresh, prepare salads and various vegetable cuts, pickle, canned whole, and they are also suitable for pickling.
Maturation
The hybrid belongs to the class of mid-early varieties. It takes about 40-45 days from germination to ripening of green leaves on the bushes. Germination of sprouts and ripening of fruits are quite amicable. Cucumbers ripen in July, sometimes fruiting is delayed until mid-August. Choosing vegetables is recommended daily.
Yield
The yield of a vegetable crop is high if basic agricultural technology is provided. On average, from 1 hectare of plantations, you can collect from 115 to 370 centners of tasty greens. Up to 25 kg of crispy cucumbers ripens per 1 m2.
Landing scheme
When planting a plant, you should correctly place the cucumber bushes in the garden. The optimal layout for planting is considered to be a 60x30 cm scheme. 4-5 bushes are planted per 1 m2 of open ground, and 2-3 bushes are planted in a greenhouse.
Growing and care
Planting of cucumbers is carried out from mid-May to early June, when the weather has stabilized, and the soil has warmed up enough. Bushes 20-25 cm high with a strengthened central stem and 4-5 true leaves are used as planting material.
Crop care includes: irrigation with warm or settled water every 10-12 days, top dressing, loosening and weeding of the soil, garter bushes, disease prevention. In addition, when growing cucumbers in a greenhouse, do not forget about regular ventilation.
Soil requirements
The culture has no special requirements for the structure of the soil, the main thing is that it is breathable, moist, nutritious, well fluffed and not acidic. Cucumbers are most comfortable to grow in loamy and sandy loam soils.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Required climatic conditions
Patti cucumbers are a thermophilic culture that needs light, sun, moisture and air circulation. Despite the fact that the vegetable is resistant to shade, it is recommended to grow it in the southern part of the garden, protected from drafts and cold winds. In addition, the plant is susceptible to moisture stagnation and sudden temperature fluctuations.
Disease and pest resistance
The variety has a strong immune system, therefore it is resistant to almost all standard diseases. A plant can get sick with powdery mildew, white rot or brown spot only in case of violation of the rules of care or in adverse weather conditions. Aphids, slugs or spider mites can attack cucumber bushes, which will help to fight with insecticidal treatments.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
