Cucumbers of the F1 Leaf hybrid are in demand among summer residents and farmers due to their excellent appearance, uniformity of fruits, excellent taste, as well as a long fruiting period.
Breeding history
The hybrid cucumber variety was bred in 2014 by breeders from the Rijk Zwaan company, which has been engaged in seed production and cultivation of vegetables for almost 100 years (headquartered in the province of South Holland, De Leer). At the same time, the originators of the culture applied for the admission of growing crops on the territory of the Russian Federation. After variety trials, which lasted 2 years, the F1 hybrid was introduced to Rosreestr in 2016, zoned for several Russian regions.
Description of the variety
The F1 leaf is a parthenocarpic hybrid, which means that the fruit ovary occurs without the participation of insects. High productivity distinguishes the crop when cultivated in open land conditions, as well as under cover from a film. At the same time, the ripening of the crop takes place amicably.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
Bushes of cucumber hybrid Leaf of indeterminate growth type, medium in size, moderate branching. The root system is not well developed. The lateral shoots grow back quickly. Considering that this is a parthenocarpic plant, flowers on it are only female, they form 1-2 ovaries in a bunch.
Cucumbers of the culture in question belong to the gherkin group. Short fruits grow up to 11 centimeters, they reach 3.5 centimeters in diameter. The average weight of gherkins is from 67 to 101 grams. The mid-lumpy type of fruit is distinguished by its traditional cylindrical shape. Cucumbers from green to dark green in color, with stripes, without a white tip.
Purpose and taste of fruits
Cucumbers of the Dutch hybrid variety Leaf have a rich, bright taste. The flesh of gherkins is crispy, rather juicy, the seeds are small, there is no bitterness in the fruits. After processing, the quality is not lost. Ideal for canning thanks to the optimal size and color. The consistency of the cucumbers is dense, the seed chamber is small.
Maturation
A hybrid from Holland bears fruit quite early - within 48-50 days after germination.
Yield
High-yielding culture. The average indicators of the hybrid are at the level of 269-612 kg / ha.
Growing regions
The culture is recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus, in the North-West, Nizhnevolzhsky, Central, Volga-Vyatka regions, as well as in the Central Black Earth Region, Western and Eastern Siberia.
Growing and care
The Dutch cucumber hybrid can be grown in open beds, on a garter, as well as in temporary film shelters.
There are two options for planting seed: through seedlings, or apply a seedless option and sow them immediately in a closed greenhouse or in unprotected soil.
The yield of the hybrid will depend on how accurately and competently the cultivation conditions are followed. As for the rules, they are simple. Irrigation should be carried out only with heated liquid. Feed the hybrid with organic matter, as well as mineral compounds every 2 weeks. Weed and loosen once a week.
The optimal time for sowing cucumbers is from mid-May to early July. Planting scheme - have 3-4 seedlings or seeds per 1 m2. Seeds should be planted 1 cm. Nutritious, light and loose soil is suitable for the Dutch hybrid.
The originators recommend forming cucumbers of this variety in one lash, tying them to supports. And in order to get high yields, it is optimal to grow in the open field on a trellis. Harvesting should be frequent to unload the plant.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Disease and pest resistance
Like many hybrids, Leaf F1 has a strong immunity. It is resistant to bacteriosis, as well as powdery mildew and cladosporiosis.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
