Cucumber Courage is one of the most successful varieties of Russian selection. One has only to study the description of the qualities of the variety, it becomes clear why it has earned the attention of most gardeners.

Description of the variety

The Kurazh F1 variety is a hybrid development of the Gavrish breeding company represented by its specialists SF Gavrish, AE Portyankin, AV Shamshina. In 2002, the subspecies was registered in the State Register of Domestic Breeding Achievements. Recommended for cultivation in all regions of the country.

The main purpose of the self-pollinated hybrid is planting on small household plots, mainly under film shelters. But Courage also bears fruit remarkably in the open field of most climatic zones. It cannot be planted in unprotected soil only in especially harsh climates.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

The shrub grows very large, with medium branchiness and an average number of leaves, as well as a developed root system. The leaves of the plant are of typical size and color, smooth, with smooth jagged edges. The flowering type of the variety is female. In each bunch 5-10 zelents ripen.

The length of the cylindrical fruit is 11-14 cm with a diameter of 4.0-4.5 cm and a mass of 100-120 g. The color is green, there are fuzzy stripes at 1/3 of the length. The surface is slightly ribbed, with many whitish spines. The skin is thin, and underneath is the aromatic flesh of a crispy consistency.

Purpose and taste of fruits

Fresh cucumbers are very tasty, as they are thin-skinned and do not taste bitter. Salad cucumber is also suitable for pickling and canning.

Maturation

According to the timing of the ripening of the crop, the hybrid belongs to the early: the first cucumbers can be harvested already 40-43 days after germination. On an adult bush, the lashes of which can stretch up to three meters in length, often there are up to 30 fruits at the same time.

Yield

A high-yielding variety with an average yield of 16-18 kg / sq. m (or 6-8 kg per bush).

Landing scheme

The holes are prepared, keeping a distance of 50 cm between them.The optimal spacing in the row spacing is also considered to be 50 cm.

Growing and caring

The cucumber should be planted in a sunlit area, protected from cold winds and drafts. At the same time, it is important that the site does not overheat under the rays of the sun, since the culture loves moisture. A little shade during the hottest daytime hours is welcome.

The Kurazh hybrid is planted with seeds directly in the garden bed, and having previously grown seedlings. In regions where it gets warmer before, there is no point in sowing seeds for seedlings, this is done only if you want to speed up the first harvest. In the conditions of the middle zone and more severe climatic zones, pre-cultivation of seedlings is often done.

Seedlings are planted in open ground with the arrival of June. Sowing dates for seedlings for greenhouses are mid-April. The timing of planting seedlings under the film is the beginning of May. Sowing seeds in open areas is carried out at the end of May.

In the hot period, top dressing must be embedded in the ground. In other conditions, it is advisable to spray cucumbers with nutrients. The best time for fertilization is in the evening in cloudy weather.It would be nice after rain or watering. Fertilize four times per season:

  1. 15 days after planting in the ground;
  2. in the flowering phase;
  3. at the initial stage of mass fruiting;
  4. 10-12 days after planned feeding.

With the vertical method of cultivation, it is necessary to correctly form the whip in order for the variety to fully bear fruit. The description of the optimal pattern when forming into one stem is as follows.

  1. In the axils of the first 4-6 leaves of the bush, all ovaries are removed along with lateral shoots.
  2. Starting from 5-7 leaves, only lateral shoots are removed in the axils, the last leaves are cut off, only petioles 3-5 cm long are left. It is worth removing up to 4 leaves at a time. In a day, the bushes need to be fed with Novosil.
  3. Further, the plant is directed along the trellis and pinched its top, as soon as it reaches the plant growing nearby or the ceiling of the greenhouse. Previously, it is wrapped around the support in two turns. In 2-3 nodes under the trellis, ovaries and shoots are left, pinching after 2 leaves. This will provide the cucumbers with maximum illumination for the necessary photosynthetic activity of the leaves and the timely setting of ovaries.

When growing horizontally, it is important to distribute the lashes evenly over the ground, providing the crop with good lighting.

Although the Courage hybrid is moisture-loving, it is impossible to overfill the earth so that the plantings do not get sick with the fungus. Watering should be regular, and water for it is defended in the sun for 5-8 hours.

Watering cucumbers Courage is necessary so that the water does not stagnate. It should not be poured under the bushes, otherwise there is a risk of washing off the soil from the roots located close to the surface. When watering, the entire area in the garden just needs to be moistened. Another way is to prepare shallow watering grooves between the bushes. It is recommended to water the plant once every 2-3 days, consuming 4-5 liters of water per bush. When growing cucumbers in the open field, the watering schedule must be selected taking into account the weather conditions.

Further, everything is standard: weeding the area from weeds, loosening the soil after watering, mulching and fertilizing it. There are many types of dressings for cucumbers.

Soil requirements

The soil pH should be close to neutral values. The soil should be loose, light, well supplied with nutrients important for plants. A soil with a large amount of humus is chosen for the culture. Loam, sandy loam soil, or fertile black soil are considered good options.

Before planting cucumbers, the soil must be prepared in advance. In the fall, organic fertilizing is introduced: 3 glasses of ash for the same amount of manure buckets and 70 g of nitroammofoska per 1 sq. m. In the spring, the soil is dug up onto the bayonet of a shovel and, if necessary, fertilized with compost in the amount of 1 bucket per 1 square meter. m, and then covered with a film so that the earth in the garden warms up.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Disease and pest resistance

When caring for the Courage hybrid, it is important to carry out disease prevention. The crop is relatively resistant to diseases and pests, cucumber mosaic virus and brown olive spot. Cucumbers are also resistant to powdery mildew, but they can get sick with fungal diseases.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting.In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.

Review overview

The gardeners are attracted by the unpretentiousness, high marketability and good transportability. The shelf life is up to 10 days. Courage cucumbers are bought in large quantities by the Dutch, well-known seed producers who sell them all over the world. Fruits grow splendidly everywhere, demonstrating excellent seed germination: every 10 seeds germinate without exception.

Plucked fruits do not lose their quality for ten days. If you cut open a fresh fruit and examine it, you will immediately notice a small core and a minimum amount of seeds. This indicator shows the suitability of the fruit for the preparation of quality workpieces.

Having planted only 10 Kurazh F1 bushes on your site, you will get enough harvest to eat enough, fill the cellar and even treat relatives or friends. For a stunning result, you just need to adhere to all the recommendations.
