Many varieties of cucumbers are distinguished by their unpretentious care, ripening period or yield. Gosh cucumbers combine all these qualities. Although the culture was developed relatively recently, it more and more attracts the attention of summer residents.
Breeding history
The Gosha F1 hybrid was produced by the order of the agrofirm "Partner". Development began in 2017 at the Dacha sites owned by the firm. The author was the breeder Blokin-Mechtalin V.I. And in 2021, after all tests, the culture was approved for use.
Designed for growing in film shelters. Grows well in winter or polycarbonate greenhouses.
Description of the variety
The culture is indeterminate, with unlimited growth vigor of the bush. Therefore, additional tying to a support or trellis is necessary, otherwise the bush will begin to creep along the ground.
The branching is weak, compact. The leaves are wide, five-pointed. They are medium in size. The color is bright green. The shoots are green and medium active, but the lateral ones grow a little faster.
The bush thrives on light shade.
Bouquets of flowers are formed on the stems, 3-4 in number. They are all female. Gosha cucumber belongs to the parthenocarpic type. This means that the buds do not require special pollination, although they are of the same sex. The fruits are tied on all the flowers formed.
Another feature is that this type cannot be propagated with the resulting seeds, since the variety is a hybrid. And all the seeds of the hybrids are empty and require subsequent crossing.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
The Gosha variety belongs to gherkins. The fruits ripen medium in size, cylindrical in shape. The length is 10-12 cm. The mass of the greenery varies from 100 to 110 g. The color of the peel is green, the surface is rough and bumpy. Many small white spines are formed in the tubercles.
The fruits are stored in a cool and dry place for up to 1 month or more. The transportability of the variety is at a height.
Purpose and taste of fruits
The culture belongs to the salad type and is suitable for fresh consumption, for pickling and preserving, as well as for decorating first and second courses. Freezing for a short time is possible.
Cucumbers have a pleasant taste, they are fragrant and do not contain bitterness. Only overripe fruits can contain a large amount of water inside and taste bitter. They can be distinguished by the appearance of a yellow undertone on the peel.
Maturation
The Gosha variety belongs to early crops. Some believe that it is super early, as the ripening period takes only 38-40 days.
Yield
The culture is considered to be high yielding and productive. From one bush, you can collect from 8 to 10 kg. Average yield varies within 20 kg per 1 m2. It is recommended to remove cucumbers every 2-3 days. On an industrial scale, the yield is 360 centners per hectare.
Growing regions
Producers indicate that the highest yields are achieved in the Central Black Earth Region, the Central, Middle Volga and North-West regions. And also culture shows itself well in the Far Eastern, Ural and West Siberian regions.
Landing scheme
Although the variety is unpretentious and grows well even in the shade, it is recommended to plant the bushes so that there are 2 seedlings per 1 m2.This will ensure proper air circulation. Plants will have enough mineral elements, and they will not be confused with each other.
Growing and care
Seedling material must be germinated before planting. Here it is worth considering where the cucumbers will grow. If in a covered greenhouse or greenhouse, then a small sprout will be enough. For outdoor cultivation, seed should be germinated first to produce seedlings.
Seeds are planted in the ground when it warms up to a temperature of 13-15 ° C. In insulated greenhouses, the timing may vary.
The choice of location must meet some requirements. The plant needs partial shade so that the leaves do not burn the sun. It is also necessary that the soil is light and loamy. Soil acidity - no more than 6.4 units. If the pH is higher, then it must be lowered with a solution of lime. Cucumbers also do not grow on too alkaline soil.
A place for planting is dug up in advance, all weeds are removed, and useful minerals and fertilizers are added. It is necessary to feed the earth in the fall so that it is nourished. And in the spring, the site is dug up again.
Caring for a crop consists in adhering to the rules of agricultural technology. Basically, it consists of the following activities.
Watering. Gosh cucumbers are very demanding on water. Therefore, it is best to have a watering schedule. This can be every 4-5 days prior to flowering and every 2 days at the time of flowering and fruit ripening. In hot and dry weather, it is best to water the plant every day, either in the early morning or after sunset. This is necessary so that the culture does not get burned.
Garter. Since the variety is indeterminate, a garter is necessary. In a greenhouse or greenhouse, trellises are installed, and the main shoot will be tied to them. Some gardeners recommend pinching the stem when 7-9 leaves are formed. This trick will help stimulate additional stem growth as well as fruit formation.
Top dressing. The procedure is carried out with minerals and organics. Supplements can include nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, fluoride, and manure and mullein mix.
Hilling. This procedure aims to increase the period of fruiting and to increase the yield. Loosening is carried out after watering, when the soil is soft. The earth is carefully scooped up to the bush and a mound is created with a height of 5 cm.The chopper should be immersed in the ground by no more than 3 cm.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Disease and pest resistance
The Gosha variety has good immunity, as it is a hybrid. But with improper care, it can be attacked by various pests or fungal diseases. To avoid this, it is necessary to periodically spray the crop.
Bacteriosis The fungus appears due to weather conditions. This mainly occurs after prolonged rains, and then with a sharp rise in temperature. Bacteriosis is a manifestation of uneven and dry yellow spots on the leaves. To avoid this ailment, it is worth ventilating the greenhouse and not letting the humidity rise above 60%.
Olive spot. A fungus that infects cucumbers. Most often, it is young green people who suffer. They begin to deform and then gradually turn yellow. If you do not notice this in time, then the fruit will begin to rot. For prevention, you can spray the bushes with copper-containing preparations, but only before flowering.
Root rot. It happens because the soil is very waterlogged and practically did not dry out before the next watering. The result of root rot is that the stems begin to thin out, the leaves deform and turn yellow, and then dry out completely. It is impossible to cure this disease. It is recommended to follow the irrigation regime, and to drain in the ground so that the water does not stagnate.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
