The Harmony f1 cucumber variety has appeared as a result of a selection carried out by Dutch specialists. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation in open ground and under cover. Vegetable growers are attracted by its resistance to cold, the ability to quickly regenerate and grow.

Breeding history

The Dutch variety is also known as Harmonie. Approved for use since 2003. It is grown not only at home, but throughout Russia. Cucumber grows well in any climatic zone.

Description of the variety

Harmony is a parthenocarpic hybrid, that is, a culture with a female flowering type. There are up to 6 female flowers in a node. Due to the ability to self-pollinate, it gives equally good yields in greenhouses and outdoors. Fruiting is directly influenced by the correct planting algorithm and the subsequent care of the plants.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

The plant is indeterminate in type of growth, with medium branching and leaf size. They are typically green in color, and the color of the fruit is identical and more intense. Short light green stripes and slight mottling are present.

The zelents are short in length, up to 10-12 cm, 3.3-3.9 cm in diameter. By weight, they reach 50-60 grams. The shape of zelents is typical - cylindrical. And from the external differences, one can note the cover of whitish fluff and densely located thorns over the entire surface of the fruit.

The inside is dense, fresh pulp with few seeds that are not suitable for planting.

Purpose and taste of fruits

The purpose of Zelentsov is universal. They taste great, without bitterness. The pulp is crispy and juicy. Pleasant aroma typical of fresh cucumbers.

Maturation

Zelentsy early ripening. Only 37-45 days pass from germination to fruit.

Yield

The variety shows a high yield. On average, it reaches 190-219 c / ha.

Landing scheme

It is recommended to adhere to the following scheme for planting Harmony cucumbers: 30x70 cm.

Growing and care

Pre-treated seeds of Harmony cucumbers are on sale. You will not need to prepare them for germination on your own. This greatly facilitates the task of the farmers.

Although some of them advise hardening the seeds. To do this, you need to place them in hot water, and then dip them in cold water. Then the seeds are left to dry, and only then are they considered ready for planting.

A suitable soil substrate consists of:

  • nutritious turf;

  • sand;

  • rotted manure humus;

  • peat;

  • minerals.

With direct sowing, the seeds are buried 2 cm and lightly sprinkled with earth. Watered with heated water, and make a film shelter. It is advisable to transfer only mature and previously hardened seedlings to open ground.

The seedlings are moved to the beds when 5 full leaves are formed on the sprouts. During this period, the soil should warm up to 15 degrees. Typically, growing seedlings takes 30 days.

The bushes are planted, deepening by 8 cm. It is more convenient to focus on the lower leaf. After planting, the bush is watered and covered with foil. This is a necessary measure in order to help the cucumbers to start and not fade.

Seeds are sown in open beds when the soil warms up to 12-14 degrees. The risk of frost must be avoided. Planting dates: late May - early June.

In an open bed, Harmony bushes do not need a garter, they also do not need shaping. But if the hybrid crop is grown in a greenhouse, the bushes need to be tied up.

To speed up the ripening process of greens, 5 internodes are pinched from below, and then lateral shoots by 1.3 m. No more formation is required.

Harmony f1 yield also depends on how well the plant is taken care of. It will take certain watering work, feeding and loosening the soil, as well as tying up tall bushes.

- Watering

Water the cucumbers every evening using warm water. Watering is carried out strictly at the root so that there is no risk of plant diseases.

- Top dressing

Harmony needs to be fed in a warm season, combining this agrotechnical measure with watering. As a rule, the plant is fed in the evening, using mineral and organic components.

- Hilling

Since cucumbers require hilling, vegetable growers tend to loosen the soil with a pitchfork. With this approach, it is possible to eliminate the compacted layer of the earth, and provide the root system with access to oxygen and moisture.

Soil requirements

The quality of the soil in which the seedlings are planted also directly affects the yield of cucumbers.

Garden soil with a poor composition is additionally saturated with nitrogen. A budget tool in the form of a mullein solution will cope with this. Such feeding will be required twice during germination.

The soil should consist of 2 parts of peat, the same amount of humus, 1 part of sod land and 1⁄2 part of river sand. It is better to disinfect the prepared mixture so that the seeds do not become infected with the fungus. You can steam it, or use a manganese solution (3 g of powder diluted in 10 liters of water).

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is resistant to adverse weather conditions. Plants do not wither in the heat. And also Harmony is distinguished by the presence of good immunity to many diseases and pests. Tolerant to cucumber mosaic virus and almost immune to cladosporiosis and powdery mildew. But for the prevention of infection, special means and folk recipes are used.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.

Review overview

Harmony F1 is a variety that is valued for its disease resistance, cold resistance and high yield. Cucumber is grown for sale, consumed fresh, canned.

The hybrid is successfully cultivated even in the northern regions. During the cultivation period of the Harmony hybrid, vegetable growers note only one drawback - daily watering.
