Cucumber is one of the earliest vegetables and has a relatively short growing season. However, within the culture, there are later and faster varieties. One of the high-speed cucumbers is the Furo cucumber, which is capable of producing fruits within a month after planting. The variety is a novelty of the market, it was included in the State Register in 2019. However, it can be known to gardeners under the name Furor.

Description of the variety

Furo cucumber, or Furor, is a parthenocarpic hybrid. The originator is Blokin-Mechtalin Vasily Ivanovich, the author of varieties that fully meet the modern needs of the market: fruitful, unpretentious, with a twist. Furo cucumbers immediately stand out from others in shape and dark, almost olive skin.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

A bush with the ability to grow indefinitely, medium branches. Leaves are medium in size, medium green. The flowers are female, several pieces per node, usually 2 pieces.

Zelentsy are short, up to 10-12 cm, very beautiful, almost perfect cylindrical shape. The weight of one fruit is average for a parthenocarpic cucumber - 90-105 g. The color of the peel is dense green, even, with a slight lightening to the tip. The tubercles are fairly frequent, of medium size, with white spines. The pulp is juicy, of excellent consistency, the seed area is small, dense.

Purpose and taste of fruits

The taste is excellent, without bitterness, bright, well balanced. The variety is salad, but due to its size it is excellent for pickling.

Maturation

The hybrid is early maturing, ripens 37-39 days after the emergence of mass shoots.

Yield

In terms of yield, the variety is inferior to commercial leaders, but still shows itself excellently - 20 kg of marketable fruits per 1 sq. m. This is an excellent indicator. The yield is even 10-12 kg per 1 sq. m is considered decent for a cucumber. The commercial qualities are the highest: the cucumbers are even, perfectly calibrated, one to one.

Growing regions

The variety is grown throughout Russia, without restrictions, from the Far East to the North Caucasus.

Landing scheme

For 1 sq. m are planted in 3-4 plants.

Growing and care

It is recommended to grow the variety in greenhouses or under temporary film shelters. Sowing is possible from January to May, depending on the cultivation scheme and the desired harvest time.

Early sowing (January-April) involves the use of supplementary lighting so that the seedlings do not stretch out. The plants are then planted in greenhouses. The roots of cucumbers do not tolerate anxiety, therefore, sowing is done in peat tablets, peat-humus pots or containers, which are not a pity to tear and throw away during transplantation (bags, juice packaging).

Most often, the Furo cucumber is planted directly in the ground, it is very early even without additional tweaks. A month after planting, you can remove the salad cucumbers.

When sowing in the ground, the soil temperature is taken into account. It should be at least + 15 ° С during the day and not less than + 8 ° С at night. This is May-June, depending on the region. Fresh plantings are covered with a film or non-woven covering material. They remove the shelter completely when the cucumbers release 3-4 real leaves.

In the future, Furo cucumbers do not require special care. The same agricultural technique is suitable as for all parthenocarpic cucumbers.

  1. Abundant and regular watering. At the same time, the soil should be soaked up to 40 cm. Cucumbers are watered daily or twice a day in extreme heat.
  2. Top dressing. During the season, they usually feed 3-4 times, however, the feeding scheme strongly depends on the initial conditions.
  3. Harvesting fruits at least 2-3 times a week will maximize the yield.

Liquid organic matter (infusion on banana skins, diluted slurry or bird droppings), complex mineral fertilizers are used as top dressings. If the plants are planted in warm beds, spraying on the leaf is sufficient.

Soil requirements

Like all cucumbers, Furo loves loose, breathable, nutritious soil. The soil should be so airy that it can dry out in 1 day. The roots of the culture lie at a depth of no more than 30 cm, they need a lot of moisture, but do not like getting wet. The acidity of the soil is neutral or slightly acidic (from 6.2 to 7 pH). If the soil is more acidic, add slaked lime, dolomite flour, chalk or ash.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Required climatic conditions

The plant loves an even warm temperature - about 20 ° C. However, more attention should be paid to soil temperature. The ground mass of any cucumber is more hardy. Drafts and winds should be avoided, but the foliage of cucumbers should be well ventilated to prevent diseases.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is resistant to cucumber mosaic virus, olive spot, powdery mildew. Subject to agricultural technology, it does not need processing. If any stains appear or for preventive purposes, the plants are sprayed with Fitosporin, an ash solution, and whey diluted in water with 2 drops of iodine. Processing is carried out in cloudy weather, on both sides of the leaves.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.

Review overview

Furo cucumber is very popular with gardeners. There are simply no negative or critical reviews. The variety is great and is the perfect early cucumber. It has fleshy, juicy, sweet fruits without voids, very tender, crunchy, with strong pulp and at the same time small, invisible seeds.

These cucumbers will please even the most demanding family members. Excellent for salting: the size is just perfect, the consistency is dense, the skin is strong. Fruits - as in the picture, all the same, even, rich, dense color - it's nice to even pick them.

The seedlings are beautiful, with emerald leaves, the variety is not prone to clinging to diseases, it grows flawlessly. The cucumber loves warmth and light, but all cucumbers have such requirements. Furo is worth considering for anyone looking for the fastest and most beautiful cucumber varieties.
