Cucumber Babayka is a hybrid variety, distinguished by productivity, early onset of fruiting, good health, delicious gherkins and excellent presentation.
Description of the variety
The hybrid has the following advantages:
- unpretentious care;
- early maturity;
- parthenocarpic view;
- high productivity;
- endurance: the plant is able to withstand temperature fluctuations from light frosts to a long sultry summer;
- long-term storage and transportation without losses;
- universal purpose;
- excellent taste;
- resistance to most infections.
Among the disadvantages, vegetable growers note the plant's need for frequent irrigation and systematic feeding.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
It is a vigorous plant with low branching, which makes it easier to form a bush. The stems are powerful and sturdy. Shoot-forming ability is limited. Leaves are medium in size and rich in dark green color. The variety has a female flowering type. On the nodes from 3 or more fruits are formed.
Zelentsy are formed short, 10-13 cm long and weighing up to 115 g. Cylindrical cucumbers in dark green tones grow with short light stripes and weak spotting. The small tuberous surface has a dense descent. Spikes are white. The skin is thin and delicate.
Purpose and taste of fruits
Juicy pulp without voids has a brightly saturated cucumber taste, in which light sweetness prevails and there is no bitterness at all. The consistency is firm and crunchy with lots of small seeds. The variety is perfect for preparing fresh salads, snacks and cold dishes, as well as for preserving. During heat treatment and pickling, no voids are formed in the pulp, and the fruits retain their crunch.
Cucumber Babayka has an attractive appearance. During transportation, zelents do not lose their presentation, taste and consumer properties.
Maturation
Early fruiting. The first fruits ripen on the 42nd day from the moment the first shoots appear. The picking period is long, from July to August.
Yield
The hybrid gives a high yield. On average, from 1 sq. m receive 11 kg of fruit.
Growing regions
The culture is adapted for cultivation throughout the country. The optimal regions where the hybrid shows a high yield are Volgo-Vyatka, North, North-West, Middle Volga, North Caucasian, Central and Central Chernozem.
Landing scheme
When planting Babayki, they adhere to the 30x70 cm scheme, since the plants are tall and it is necessary to ensure that the bushes do not interfere with each other during growth. To maintain a good yield, the variety is planted with a density of no more than 3-4 specimens per 1 sq. m.
Growing and care
The plant prefers to grow in light, well-ventilated areas. Suitable both for planting in open ground and for film greenhouses.The timing of sowing seeds directly into the soil and transferring the finished seedlings to a permanent place is carried out at the end of May - beginning of June, for seedlings in a greenhouse - at the end of April.
When germinating seeds, the temperature regime is of great importance, which should be at least 21 degrees. The area for cucumbers is prepared in the fall. The soil is carefully dug up, weeds are removed, rotted manure is introduced. Before planting, the soil must be disinfected with copper sulfate or a weak solution of potassium permanganate; you can also use fungicides. The earth is carefully loosened again.
A few days before the day of planting, wood ash, peat are added to the prepared holes and watered abundantly. The seeds are sown after 3-4 days of soaking in a damp cloth, the seedlings are planted at the age of one month.
Babayka needs careful care. A moisture-loving culture requires systematic watering, moreover, abundant. However, the soil should be moist, but not waterlogged, and waterlogging of the site should not be allowed. The best option for irrigation is drip irrigation. The bushes are irrigated every 3 days, and when dry weather sets in, the frequency of irrigation is increased.
You need to make top dressing regularly, since the taste of zelents depends on this. Additional food is brought in 3 times per season. The first time is fertilized during the period of active growth, the second - with the beginning of flowering, the third - when the fruits begin to form. The variety reacts best to organic fertilizers, but it can also be fed with mineral fertilizers.
Soil requirements
The variety bears fruit well on medium-loamy air-permeable soils.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Disease and pest resistance
Breeders have tried to create a hybrid as resistant to most diseases as possible, especially to root rot, brown olive spot and powdery mildew. The culture is tolerant to peronosporosis. Succulent shoots and leaves attack aphids and spider mites. For preventive purposes, the bushes are treated with soapy water or powdered with wood ash.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
