Atos is a salad variety of cucumbers discovered by Russian specialists and approved for use in 2008. The variety quickly gained popularity in gardening circles due to its marketable and flavoring properties.
Description of the variety
It is a parthenocarpic variety, that is, a hybrid that does not require pollinators. It can be cultivated both in the open field and under a temporary film cover. The variety is characterized by high yields and excellent immunity against common diseases.
Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents
The bush is characterized by an indeterminate type of growth, in length it reaches 150-200 cm and has medium-sized lashes, as well as dark green leaves. This is a bundle plant, in each bundle 5-7 zelents are formed.
Fruits 6-9 cm long and weighing up to 110 g have a dark green small tuberous skin with white thorns. Zelentsy is characterized by high marketability and good transportability.
Purpose and taste of fruits
Gardeners note a good, without bitterness, taste of the fruit. At the same time, the pulp is dense, crispy, but juicy, so the fruits are suitable both for fresh consumption and for pickling or canning.
Maturation
The first cucumbers can be enjoyed within 38-40 days after pecking the shoots, which is typical for varieties with an early ripening period.
Yield
This is a high-yielding variety, which, subject to all the rules of agricultural technology, gives on average 12.1 kg of yield per square meter.
Landing scheme
Sowing begins about a month before transplanting. Planting seedlings in open ground usually occurs in late May or early June. These dates can be shifted depending on the climatic conditions in which the crop is grown. The main thing is to transplant after the end of the frost.
The presented variety thrives in drained soil with a high humus content and a low nitrogen content. When choosing a place for planting, give preference to areas located in the sun or in partial shade. Plant the bushes according to the scheme 70x30 cm. Such a large distance is due to the fact that this variety is prone to overgrowth.
Growing and care
When caring for your crop, pay special attention to the following steps.
- Watering.
Before moistening, the water must be defended and the stream must be directed exclusively at the root. Sprinkling will be appropriate in the heat. Water for irrigation should be warm. Watering is performed in the evening.
- Garter and shaping.
To form a lot of ovaries, excess shoots must be cut off. The main lashes are tied to supports and trellises. When pruning, use a disinfected tool, and keep in mind that this variety has rather fragile stems, so try not to overtighten them.
- Top dressing.
Fertilizers are used together with watering after about 1-1.5 weeks. The nutrient composition is applied at the root, as well as by spraying the tops. So, treatment with boric acid activates the flowering process, and the urea solution enriches the plant with nitrogen.
- Loosening.
This procedure is performed every 1.5-2 weeks after irrigation. The process consists in loosening the soil to a depth of 2-4 cm.At the same time, weeds are also removed, and the long lashes of the vegetable are pruned.
In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
Disease and pest resistance
This hybrid has high immunity against various diseases, for example, against the cucumber mosaic virus or powdery mildew. The variety is rarely affected by insects. It also withstands adverse weather conditions well. However, preventive measures should not be neglected; the plant should be treated with special agents at least once a season. Also, to prevent the above problems, it is important to follow all the rules of agricultural technology.
Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
