Atlantis is a salad honeycomb bred by Dutch breeders. The variety was approved for use in 2000 and quickly gained popularity among Russian gardeners.

Description of the variety

This is a bee-pollinated hybrid that can be cultivated both in the open field and under a temporary film cover. The variety has a high yield and good taste, and the main advantage can be considered an excellent marketability, which remains even during long-distance transportation.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

The bush belongs to the indeterminate type, has medium-sized green wrinkled leaves. Fruits are small - 12-14 cm long and weighing 120-130 g, are formed in the form of a cylinder, covered with dark green large-lumpy skin with light spots. Stored under appropriate conditions for 10-14 days.

Purpose and taste of fruits

Consumers note the good taste of the fruit without bitterness. Under the skin there is a dense, pleasant pulp, which clearly reveals the taste of greenery in a fresh vitamin salad. Atlantis fruits are also well suited for salting or canning.

Maturation

The first fruits are formed already in 46-52 days after the emergence of shoots, which is typical for varieties with an early ripening period.

Yield

This is a high-yielding variety that, subject to all the rules of agricultural technology, can please the gardener with an average yield of 12-14 kg per square meter.

Landing scheme

Sowing is carried out in April, ready-made bushes are planted in open ground or in a greenhouse in May-June. If the seeds are sown directly to the summer cottage, then the optimal time for this is May-June. Before sowing, sort the seeds, fill with saline for 10 minutes, and then process in a solution of potassium permanganate for 15 minutes. Rinse the seeds and start planting.

Depth the seeds to a maximum depth of 1 cm; two seeds can be planted in each cup. Cover the future seedlings with foil, and put in a warm place. In a week or even earlier, the first shoots will hatch. Now the cups need to be transferred to the window. Young shoots need moderate watering, and when 3-4 leaves are formed, they can be planted on the site. For planting seedlings, choose a sunny bed. Plant the bushes according to the 30x70 cm pattern.

Growing and caring

Further care consists in the following actions.

• Watering

This is a moisture-loving variety, so you need to water the young shoots daily. As they adapt to the new conditions, the frequency of watering can be reduced to twice a week. For irrigation, be sure to use warm, settled water. The variety responds well to the drip irrigation system.

• Garter and shaping

Be sure to tie the bushes to the trellises. This procedure will increase yields, facilitate maintenance, protect the plant from insects, and protect the crop from dirt. Remove the lower leaves so that the shrub forms properly. Do not forget to eliminate stepchildren, which hinder active fruiting and are an unnecessary burden on the roots.

• Top dressing

The presented variety needs to be fed 3-4 times per season. For fertilization, organic and mineral compounds are used. The plant responds well to infusions of chicken manure, mullein, superphosphates, mineral complexes.

• Hilling

After watering, the bed needs hilling, which consists in the formation of a ridge 5-7 cm high under the bushes. This procedure allows you to protect the culture from insects and ensures oxygen penetration to the root system.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Disease and pest resistance

The presented hybrid is resistant to cucumber mosaic virus and cladosporiosis. It can be affected by powdery mildew and downy mildew, however, these ailments practically do not affect the final harvest, so they should not be feared. Withstands the variety and insect attacks, however, if the pests still overpowered the bushes, then you can use folk remedies. So, a solution of mustard powder can help from aphids, and a water-soap solution can protect against spider mites. As a preventive measure, regularly inspect the bushes for the presence of parasites and their larvae, remove weeds, observe the watering regime, and keep the area clean.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
