Growing flowers is an easy and effortless process. There is no need to rush somewhere or follow many rules. The daisy flower is very popular, it is unpretentious in care and cultivation. The variety has a lot of different subspecies that go well with other flowers in landscape design.

Description

Nivyanik belongs to the family of Asteraceae or Compositae. It has the botanical name Leucanthemum, which means "white flower" in Greek. It can also be called by other names, such as:

  • garden chamomile;

  • common poper;

  • leucanthemum.

The lemongrass can be an annual or perennial plant. The natural habitat is very extensive. It can be found in Europe, where it has a large distribution area. It also grows in Australia, North America, Asia and even New Zealand.

It is noteworthy that for many years the nivyanik was ranked among the genus of chrysanthemums. A distinctive feature of the plant is that it has a small fibrous rhizome that has a reddish tint.

Shoots are upright, erect, very strong. They have thin and very rare pubescence. The branching of the bush is weak, there are clear pronounced edges on the surface.

Leaves are oval oblong in shape (they are also called spoon-shaped). The petioles are short. In some species, a root rosette of leaves may first form, and then only the stems.

The leaf plate is smooth and matte, which creates a rough effect, the shade is deep green. There are small notches along the edging. In some species, the leaf edge is even and smooth. Leaves on the shoot are spreading alternately.

A feature of the formation of leaves is that the higher they are, the more their size decreases.

In the last month of spring, large single buds begin to form on the tops of the shoots. Flowers consist of a small flower basket, it contains many small individual reed petals along the edge and tubular in the very center.

Most often, the petals are white or slightly yellowish, and the core is a bright rich yellow or orange hue. The flower diameter varies from 3 to 12 cm.

As such, Nivyanik does not have its own aroma. For many, the smell resembles ordinary chamomile or chrysanthemum.

After the season is over, the rosette sheds its petals. And in the basket in the center, seeds begin to form in a box.

The height of the stem will primarily depend on the variety and type of flower. It can be either 25 cm or 1 m.

Types and varieties

Breeders do not stand still in their developments, therefore at the moment there are more than 50 types of daisy... These figures include semi-double and terry varieties. The most popular and frequently encountered species is the common daisy, it is also called meadow chamomile or popovnik. It is a perennial plant, its height depends on external and climatic conditions.

On average, the growth of the central shoot is from 30 to 90 cm. Its shoots are vertical, branching is weak, there is weak pubescence. Leaves are oblong-elongated with a characteristic serrated edge. Their color is dark green, glossy. The growing season lasts from May to September. The bud is yellow-white in color.

For good growth, the bush needs a large space, which is surrounded by sunlight on all sides.

Nivyanik magnificent

Quite a large bush that stretches up to 120 cm. Great for landscaping, as well as for the formation of decorative bouquets... The species perfectly tolerates adverse climatic conditions. Bloom lasts from July to September. The flower appeared by crossing the common and the largest daisy.

Nivyanik the greatest

It is a bush variety, reaches a height of 70-150 cm. It is necessary to prepare a support for it, otherwise, over time, under the weight of the leaves and bud, the stem will begin to tilt to the ground. The diameter of the flower rosette is large and is 13 cm.

Alpine daisy

Habitat - mountains. Most often found in Central and Southern Europe. Due to the climatic conditions, the growing areas of the bushes look very compact. Stems are covered from bottom to top with light, barely discernible pubescence.

Due to the frequent winds in the highlands, the shoots begin to slope to the ground, and then grow in a creeping manner. The leaves are green, glossy, with a large jagged edge. The inflorescences are rather large for a compact bush. The petals are white, but there are other colored subspecies, when the petals have a lilac or pink hue.

If you grow this variety on the site, it will be necessary to observe a high-quality drainage system, since the culture is genetically tuned to grow in soil with a small amount of moisture.

Kuril

The homeland of this species is the Kuril Islands. It can also be found in the northern part of Japan. The height of the shoots is no more than 20 cm. This is an evolutionary change that helps to protect against strong winds. The leaves have a bluish-green hue, basal, with a dissection. The peduncles themselves are leafless, very thick, covered with bristly pubescence. The inflorescences are simple, white-yellow, very much like a chamomile.

Goldraush

The height of the bush is 40 cm, which makes it a low-growing perennial plant. The peculiarity of the variety is that it has an unusual multicolored color... Each of its inflorescences is 9 cm in diameter, while the center is bright orange, and the reeds are light yellow. This variety belongs to semi-double... Due to the high density of the location of the tongues, it can acquire a very disheveled appearance in strong winds. Outwardly, the flower resembles a chrysanthemum.

Little princesses

Perennial, blooms from May to September... The height of the stems does not exceed 30 cm, and the small size and compactness allow you to plant flowers in small flower beds. Due to its characteristics, it is not afraid of strong winds and does not need support. The inflorescences are rather large, 7.5-8 cm.

Crazy Daisy

A perennial crop that grows up to 70 cm in height. The buds can form throughout the season. The diameter of the basket is 5-6 cm. A distinctive feature is that the reed flowers are bent in all directions, and due to their number, the bud becomes splendid. The flower color is light cream.

Nivyanik magnificent Angelina

The species is terry, very compact. The maximum height of the bush is 50 cm. The leaves are dark green and have a serrated edge. Creamy buds, very large and soft.

Petrium red

The bushes are not tall, reaching a height of 40 cm. The peculiarity of the variety is in bright red-crimson buds with a rich yellow center.

Landing

The second decade of May is considered the optimal time for planting a cornflower. Although for some regions, these dates may be shifted by 1-2 weeks. It is worth remembering that, although some varieties are distinguished by good frost resistance, young bushes at the first time after transplanting may not get strong enough in a new place. Therefore, it is best to cover the seedlings with agrofibre.

Seedlings should be planted according to a certain scheme, which is chosen from taking into account many factors. For example, will there be other plants nearby, what is their root system. And the size of the daisy itself must also be taken into account (for example, how compact the bush is).

On average, dwarf bushes are planted every 30 cm. Tall flowers need not only more space, but also support. Therefore, it is best to choose a distance of 60-80 cm.

Seedlings, especially if they are in small plastic cups, are watered abundantly with water the day before planting in order to soak the lump. So the seedlings will be easier to remove from the container. The depth of the pits should be 1.5 times the volume of the earth lump.

After planting, the earth around the bushes is tamped and spilled with warm water so that the soil does not erode.

For the first time, if a composition of flowers has not been completely created, mulch up to 5 cm high can be poured onto the empty space.

Care

It is quite easy to take care of the cornflower in the open field. The right approach pays off with a large and beautiful bloom.

Conditions

It is best to choose a hilly hill for planting a plant. This is necessary because flowers do not like too much moisture. And for some, additional drainage is even necessary. Therefore, the soil must be loose and soft so that the water can flow out without difficulty.

It is best to add sand when digging up the site. The soil itself must be neutral or slightly acidic.

For abundant flowering (some varieties can bloom 2 times a year), a lot of sunlight is needed, so it is best to plant seedlings in an open area that is not shaded.

With strong shading, the stems begin to stretch strongly, and the number of buds decreases. And also with a lack of sunlight, development may slow down. In one place, one perennial variety can comfortably grow from 4 to 7 years.

It is best to transplant the lemongrass in the spring, at the time of the beginning of active growth. Less often, this procedure is done in the fall, since it takes time before frost for the culture to take root.

When transplanting, the bush is deepened, stepping back from the first leaves by 10 cm. It is best not to break the earth ball when changing location.

Watering and feeding

Watering should be done as needed. On average, this is done once a week, after the soil dries well. If the summer is rainy, then additional irrigation is not required.

The procedure can be performed both in the morning and in the evening, but not during the day. It is best to use heated rainwater.

After moistening the soil, it is loosened, but shallowly. This removes weeds and unnecessary plants, which select useful trace elements.

Top dressing for the daisy is important both for young seedlings and for large and adult bushes. It is best to use organics for this. You can feed the plant with humus, manure or a solution of chicken droppings. Top dressing should be applied 2-3 times a month.

Among the mineral formulations, potassium is best used. It can be nitrophoska or bone meal. Fertilize everything on wet soil.

Pruning

A mandatory procedure during cultivation is pruning or shaping the bushes. This procedure is not aimed at direct bush formation, but is done to maintain healthy flowering.

You can start small - remove the flower heads first. This will stimulate the emergence of new buds and also extend the flowering time. When a disease appears, damaged shoots are also removed.

After flowering, all shoots are shortened to a height of 10-12 cm from the ground.

Wintering

Preparation for winter begins after all the buds have faded. Only perennial inflorescences should be covered. Annuals are dug out of the soil and sent to compost.

In order to prevent the root system from freezing, the soil is covered with fallen leaves or covered with spruce branches.

Reproduction

Nivyanik reproduces in several ways.

  • Seed. The material can be germinated for seedlings or sown directly into open ground.

  • By cuttings.

  • By division.

Division is considered the most common way among all. The method is quite easy to implement, and its efficiency rates are 85-90%.

Diseases and pests

Too much density and frequency of planting, a humid climate and prolonged rains can lead to the appearance of many different fungal diseases:

  • powdery mildew;

  • fusarium;

  • ramulariasis;

  • rust;

  • rot;

  • peronosporosis;

  • bacterial cancer.

If fungal diseases are detected, it is necessary to spray the bushes with a tobacco solution. For prevention, you can use insecticides.

If the area of infection is large, then it is necessary to remove all infected bushes to prevent the spread of infection to other plants.

Among the pests, the daisy most often attacks aphids. The control measure is as follows. If a pest is found, it is necessary to find a focus. If this is an isolated case, then it is removed mechanically. If there are several foci, then it is best to spray the bushes with such preparations as "Actellik", "Inta-Vir", "Karate", "Fury".

Application in landscape design

Beautiful flower beds and installations are the dream of almost all summer residents. Blooming throughout the season is very pleasing not only to the eyes, but also to the soul.

Most often, the daisy is used in landscape design, combining with a number of other plants. For example, the Alpine variety is very suitable for a slide.

Little princesses are used for edging paths or flower beds. And also they are combined in a bouquet arrangement.

Chamomiles are often planted along fences, front gardens, or in small single flower beds. For such installations, high and large grades are chosen.
