Terry daffodils: variety of varieties, planting and care

For many gardeners, it is the terry daffodil that is most often found because of its beautiful appearance and unpretentiousness in care. The main difference is that terry daffodils have a crown in the middle of the inflorescence, which other varieties do not have.

Daffodils take pride of place among all spring flowers. They belong to the Amaryllis family. The plant is widespread in central Europe and Asia, as well as on the islands of the Mediterranean Sea.

The Amaryllis family includes about 60 plant species. Each of them is unique and beautiful in its own way.

• Bridle Crown.The flowering of the Bridle Crown daffodil varies with climate. In the south, it can bloom at the very beginning of spring, and closer to the north, it blooms in May. The plant is frost-resistant, withstands temperatures of -35 ° C. Do not grow more than 40 centimeters. The flowers are white, the middle changes depending on the flowering period: at first it is orange, then pink.

• Ice King. Daffodil "Ice King" can be distinguished by the large size of the flower, white or yellow. On average, his height is about 35 centimeters. Blooms in late April and early May.

• Delnasho. The daffodil "Delnasho" begins flowering at the end of April and lasts 2 weeks. This species is considered tall - it reaches a height of 45 centimeters. The petals are white and pale pink (they alternate).

• Rip van Winkle. The Rip van Winkle variety can be safely called the most unusual. The flowers are double, bright yellow, similar to chrysanthemum because of the long narrow petals. The plant itself grows up to 25 centimeters. The species is frost-resistant.

• "Acropolis". Daffodils "Akropolis" have very beautiful and lush white buds with a bright orange center. The plant grows up to 50 centimeters in height and does not get sick. Frost-resistant variety.

• Sir Winston Churchill. Species "Sir Winston Churchill" are very fond of pollinating bees and butterflies. It begins to bloom at the end of April, flowering lasts quite a long time - 3-4 weeks. • "Replit". Narcissus "Replit" stands out for its beautiful pale pink flowers. The middle is yellow-orange. Height - 50 centimeters.

• Peach Cobbler. The view of "Peach Cobbler" can rightfully be called the most beautiful. Flowers are yellow or orange. It grows up to 40 centimeters, blooms in April.

• Rosie Cloud. Narcissus "Rosie Cloud" - very gentle, with a graceful terry middle. The inflorescence itself is peach-colored. Plant height is small, blooms in mid-April.

• Flower Drift. Flower Drift is a daffodil with a spectacular center. The inflorescences are white, and the basket is bright orange. Blooms for about a month, hardy.

• Double Campernell. The "Double Campernell" species has juicy yellow flowers.One shoot can grow up to 3 pieces. Low-growing daffodil with high winter hardiness.

• Erliche. The beautiful white daffodil "Erliche" reaches a height of 35 centimeters. The middle is yellow. The variety is distinguished by a sweet aroma and unpretentious cultivation.

• Gay Challenger. Later plant with small yellow flowers. The middle is red or bright orange. Suitable for cutting into bouquets.

• "Texas". Very aromatic daffodil. Small buds can be yellow or pink. It begins to bloom only in mid-May. Feels good in flower beds and when cutting.

• Chirfulness. One shoot can have up to 4 flowers. The circumference is white and the center is pink or cream. Grows up to 35 centimeters.

• Crackington. The bright and showy flowers are bright yellow with an orange center. Almost the earliest variety, blooms in early April. It reaches a height of 60 centimeters.

• "Pink Champagne". A beautiful plant, a real mix of alternating white and bright pink petals. Small in stature - 35-40 centimeters, which is suitable for planting along paths. Blooms only in early May.

These plants are unpretentious, but they also require certain conditions. Before planting, you need to take care of the soil - there should be enough humus and acidity in it. Drainage should be provided in places of groundwater.

It is necessary to plant daffodils in the fall long before frost, so that the bulb has time to take root. For the winter, you need to cover the sprouts with leaves and branches so that the roots do not freeze.

In early spring, daffodils do not need to be watered, and once a week during flowering. Weed cleaning should be done carefully, otherwise small sprouts can be damaged.

Digging up the bulbs is optional, but they will survive the winter well in a cool, dry room. Before planting in the ground, the bulbs should be held in a solution of potassium permanganate.
