Land cultivation has been mechanized for quite some time. But if in large farms tractors, combines and other "serious" machines are actively used, then for ordinary farmers something simpler is needed. And this "something" in many cases turns out to be just a walk-behind tractor.

Appointment

The bottom line is pretty simple: a miniature tractor with one axle works the land using a variety of auxiliary equipment. In our country, walk-behind tractors have been widely used since the 1980s. Designers diligently approach the solution of the assigned tasks. As a result, the "Cascade" walk-behind tractor can be controlled, spending a minimum of physical and intellectual efforts. He is capable of:

  • plant various crops;
  • help in the care of flower beds and beds;
  • collect fruits;
  • weed weeds;
  • remove trash;
  • collect and remove snow;
  • to transport various goods needed in the subsidiary farm, and so on.

Varieties

Of course, such a diverse range of tasks cannot be performed by any one device. Careful selection of the appropriate modification is essential; only then will it be possible to achieve better results than on the old-fashioned Neva MB-1.

Specifications walk-behind tractor "Cascade MB61-25-04-01" allow you to successfully cultivate the land. Thanks to the decompressor, starting the engine after a long idle period or during cold hours is simplified. The designers equipped this device with a four-stroke engine of increased power, using gasoline of grades 92 and 95.

If you add attachments to the walk-behind tractor, you can significantly increase its functionality. Due to the extension of the track, it is possible to expand the plowing zone to 0.93 m. Usually it is 0.35 or 0.61 m (at a depth of 0.32 m). The motor of the walk-behind tractor produces an effort of up to 6.5 horsepower. The gearbox is configured for 2 forward and 2 reverse speeds.

Modification "B6-08-02-01" recommended for processing a wide variety of (including virgin) soils. Since the design is adapted to the use of a variety of attachments, it performs well in any season. Reverse is very convenient in practice. Large wheels with a well-traced tread allow the walk-behind tractor to drive quietly even in spring or autumn mud. As in the previous case, you can install a device that expands the track to 0.93 m. The 0.14 m clearance is large enough for any garden area. The 6-horsepower motor is reliable.

The basic delivery set includes:

  • plowable track extensions;
  • wheels;
  • cultivators (all - 2 pieces);
  • a set of spare parts;
  • user manual.

It is hardly possible to describe in detail all models produced under the Cascade brand within one publication. But much more important is that a company that makes parts for helicopters is engaged in the production of these motoblocks. A solid research, production and design base allows us to successfully solve the assigned tasks.

The difference between the individual models is related not only to their size, but also to:

  • type of steering columns;
  • execution of gearboxes;
  • the engines used.

On motoblocks of the early series, the DM68 engine was installed. This model has been produced for over two decades and has been modernized several times.But in newer versions of mini-tractors, it was mainly replaced by Japanese, Chinese and American counterparts. The power of most modifications is 6-7 horsepower. Motoblock MB-6, or rather, MB 6-06, like other versions, is assembled according to the classical scheme.

The difference between specific products is due to some points, such as:

  • characteristics of motors;
  • gearboxes;
  • frame device;
  • technical specifications.

All "Cascade" motoblocks have quite similar dimensions:

  • length 0.83;
  • width 0.48;
  • height 0.74;
  • clearance from 0.11 to 0.17 m.

In this case, the devices can turn at a radius of at least 0.11 m. The difference in the MB6-06 series is manifested in the strengthening or basic quality of the gearbox, standard or turning steering wheel, the presence or absence of the wheel unlocking function. The mass of motoblocks is unified (105 kg), their highest speed is 10 km / h. The plowing zone can be 0.35 or 0.61 m. Usually, the devices of this series are equipped with four-stroke gasoline engines DM-66 with a capacity of 6 liters. with. and a total weight of 25 kg.

Up to 4.5 liters of gasoline splashes in the tank of MB6 motoblocks. They can be started with an electric starter and are equipped with a decompressor by default. Users can fill in gasoline from AI-80 to AI-95. Fuel consumption per hour is approximately 2 liters. That is, with a full gas station, you can safely work for 2 hours in a row. A good alternative is the MB6-08 series. She enjoys well-deserved popularity among farmers. Variations of gearbox, rudder and speeds are the same as for MB6-06. The mass of motoblocks is 103 kg, and they can move at a speed of 10.3 km / h. But the plowing depth does not exceed 0.3 m.

There are three gauge options - 0.45, 0.6 or 0.9 m. A decompressor and oil pump are provided. The default is a DM-68 gasoline engine with 4 working strokes. Manual start and artificial lubrication of engines are possible. With a mass of 25 kg, the engines produce 6 liters. with., spending up to 2 liters of fuel per hour.

The MB61-12 series can plow the ground to a depth of 0.26 m; 3 cultivation strips are provided - 0.45, 0.6 and 0.95 m. The motoblock weighing 94 kg is equipped with a chain gear, and the clutch is made with a belt. The device can travel at a speed of up to 13 km / h, the energy for its movement is generated by an American four-stroke carburetor engine weighing 15 kg. To refuel the tank, you will need 3.6 liters of AI-92 or AI-95 gasoline. Fuel consumption per hour reaches 1.6 liters; the strengthened version (7.5 hp versus the usual 6) has a more serious torque.

The MB61-21 series includes walk-behind tractors capable of immersing cultivation cutters 0.1 - 0.2 m into the soil. The width of the cultivation strip can be up to 0.9 m. The units weighing 105 kg can travel at a speed of 13 km / h. The developers preferred to equip them with a Japanese gasoline engine with a capacity of 6-7 liters. with. Power transmission takes place using a special belt. The MB61-21 walk-behind tractors have a built-in electric generator that generates direct current. The device can only work on AI-92, the tank capacity is 3.6 liters. The unit is equipped with a manual starter and a transistor inductor. Engine oil differs depending on the season; fuel consumption per hour varies from 1.6 to 1.8 liters.

Motoblocks MB61-22 can plow the ground to a depth of 0.32 m; the cultivated strip is 0.45 or 0.93 m. In reverse, these motoblocks are capable of driving at a speed of 4 km / h, and forward - 12 km / h. The motor is cooled by air movement. Up to 4.5 liters of AI-92 or AI-95 are poured into the gas tank. The hourly fuel consumption is 1.4-1.7 liters per hour. The total power reaches 6-7 liters. with. Walk-behind tractors with Lifan motors deserve special attention. These Chinese units are deservedly considered reliable devices, providing a power of 6 or 6.5 liters. with. Motoblocks with similar engines can drive at a speed of 10 km / h, plowing the ground to a depth of 0.2 m. The width of cultivated strips ranges from 0.45 to 0.9 m. A pull rope is used to start the unit; hourly gasoline consumption from 1.8 to 2 liters.

Advantages and disadvantages

Judging by the operating experience, any Kaskad walk-behind tractors are not inferior to the leading foreign models. Their reliability fully meets the expectations of consumers. Despite the low price, this equipment is quite functional and develops high performance.Due to the variety of versions, choosing the most suitable device is not a problem. Users can successfully solve various tasks:

  • prepare holes;
  • to plant plants;
  • move heavy loads;
  • dig up root crops;
  • plow the land.

The power of the motors is practically the same as that of mini-tractors. The frame is reliably protected from corrosion processes with a special paint. Engines are carefully selected so that they can work quietly for a long time. This walk-behind tractor (regardless of the series) has no particular drawbacks. Most often, difficulties are associated with untimely or incorrect lubrication.

I must say that some users also face objective problems. Difficulties with the operation of drives, with "conflicts" of belts among themselves are quite frequent. The problem is often solved by removing one of the belts, but this invariably results in a loss in performance. Sometimes there are complaints about the weakness of the case material. Therefore, operating a walk-behind tractor on stony ground is not entirely justified.

Since all walk-behind tractors are relatively large, you will have to immediately think about how to store them. Transportation by personal car (if it is not a cargo Gazelle or something similar) is impossible. Usually you have to order a special transportation to the dacha or to a country house, since you cannot drive a walk-behind tractor on your own. However, this problem is common to all walk-behind tractors. If accessories are installed, the carburetor must be carefully adjusted.

Design and principle of operation of the device

Structurally, the Kaskad walk-behind tractors are built around a four-stroke power plant. The DM-6 engine or other motors of the DM line, Lifan engines are often installed. The steering rod is exclusively used for steering. The transmission is located below the engine, connected to it, along with the following parts:

  • power take-off shaft;
  • differential;
  • clutch.

In a standard configuration, the "Cascade" walk-behind tractors roll on pneumatic tires of 4x11 format. To enable them to drive, the carburetor forms and supplies a mixture of fuel and air. In addition to the engine, other related systems are integrated into the power plant. The running system includes:

  • reinforced frame;
  • wheels (regular or steel with the addition of lugs);
  • connecting components (belts, pulleys).

The transmission is assembled from a chain reducer, gearbox and clutch. The four-speed gearbox is capable of delivering a pair of forward and a pair of reverse speeds. It is this scheme that allows for the greatest maneuverability. The gearbox is designed for maximum resistance to vibrations and other mechanical influences. This protection is ensured through the connection to the output shaft, which is mounted on large bearings.

In addition to the steering wheel, 4 more levers are used for control. The steering wheel itself can be adjusted vertically. Therefore, controlling the walk-behind tractor is as convenient as possible. In addition to subjective comfort, it also reduces fatigue at work. As with other brands, it is recommended to purchase only original spare parts.

For the engine to work properly, the valve poppets (both inlet and outlet) must be installed without distortion. If such a mistake is made in production, it is imperative to replace the problem parts. The bracket supports the gas tank in a well-defined position. A bracket for another bracket designed to secure additional equipment can even be made by hand. But in this case, you must clearly follow the standard drawings. When the walk-behind tractor leaves for the garden, milling cutters designed to remove weeds are often connected to it. But these devices are also needed to:

  • crush the earth and mix it;
  • level the surface;
  • introduce fertilizer into the soil layer.

The diameter of the pulley is determined in such a way that it most effectively transfers the torque from the motor to the gear unit (and that will transfer energy to the cutters and other working parts). Only under this condition is the best movement rate and high work efficiency ensured. It should be noted that separate pulleys are used for forward and reverse. Each sample of such a part, with rare exceptions, can be used on walk-behind tractors of various brands. The electric starter, which starts the walk-behind tractor, operates quite reliably, but at the same time it is difficult to install it; many even prefer to use manual or hydraulic counterparts.

Attachments

Having dealt with the role of each of the components of the "Cascade" walk-behind tractor, you still need to find out the details about the installation of attachments. First of all, a reversible plow of the PN-1-20-MB model is recommended for work. This unit is mounted on a single hitch. With this plow, you can easily prepare the land for the winter period. The latest versions have improved the quality of the metal and increased its thickness.

Attachments with caterpillars are often used. They improve the driving performance of the walk-behind tractor and make it more stable. Attachments are connected using couplings with an average weight of 5 kg. A typical hitch allows you to connect the block not only to the plow, but also to the harrow, and even to the hiller. On motoblocks used in the country, a potato digger is often mounted. In most cases, potato diggers of the KM or KMT models are used. But devices with active knives and vibrating potato diggers are also suitable. The main thing is that the mass and dimensions of the digger are within the power of the motor. Quite different mowers, including the belt type, are compatible with the Kaskad walk-behind tractors. To mow the grass as gently as possible, segment mowers are used.

The front adapter plays a big role. This riding structure with a seat increases the comfort of using the walk-behind tractor. When it is required to increase the tractive effort, reducing the torque, creepers are used. When selecting them, the power of the motor is taken into account. But the specific brand of the creeper does not matter.

Operating rules

The instruction for any model of the "Cascade" walk-behind tractor informs that it works stably in the temperature range from –5 to +35 degrees. If used in violation of this limitation, the manufacturer declines responsibility for damage. When running in, it is necessary to change the oil in the engine after 5 hours. During this period, the operation of motoblocks is allowed only in first gear; it is forbidden to run it at minimum and maximum speed. When working in second gear, be sure to open the throttle to the maximum. When stony soils are cultivated, they drive the walk-behind tractor only in first gear. This is to reduce the risk of the knife breaking. Overloading of walk-behind tractors is not allowed. Use only fuel and lubricating oil that are appropriate for your particular model.

Subtleties of care

Before starting work, be sure to check:

  • oil level in all parts of the device;
  • quality of coupling and assembly;
  • tire pressure.

It is imperative to check the serviceability of the candles, the gaps of the magnetic circuit and ignition coils. Experienced owners of walk-behind tractors regularly clean the fuel and air filters, adjust the carburetor. It is unacceptable to touch the parts of the motor during operation and immediately after its end. Only use lubricating oil that is viscous to the ambient temperature. In motoblocks with a belt drive, it is necessary to regularly check the tension of the belts; both the belts and spare parts acquire exactly the same length that was originally installed on the device in the conditions of the manufacturing plant.

Owner reviews

Motoblocks "Cascade" suit even those who choose the technique for a long time and thoughtfully. Even in sticky mud, these faithful helpers show themselves well.The devices are powerful and unpretentious. However, sometimes there are difficulties with starting after the end of winter. True, this applies mainly to old cars.
