Rococo is a unique and mysterious style, which peaked in popularity during the heyday of the French aristocracy in the middle of the 18th century. In fact, this is much more than a design direction - it is primarily the way of thinking and lifestyle of the secular society of France, a product of its culture and, first of all, the royal court.

The definition of rococo originates from the French rocaille - "shell fragments". The style received such an unusual name due to the intricate decor, reminiscent of the patterns of shells and sea stones. The trend originated in the 15th century during the reign of the "sun king" Louis XIV, and after 3 centuries, in the 18th century, it became prevailing. It was at that time that France flourished.

At that time, the country became rich, took the place of a trendsetter and began to dictate the cultural and artistic life of the countries of the Old World. Pretty soon, Rococo captured other European countries, to a greater extent it affected Austria, Germany, England and Italy.
