Repairing raspberry varieties occupy a special place among gardeners and are in great demand among them. Varieties with yellow fruits are a curiosity in the garden, as they differ not only in the unusual and amazing color of the berries, but also in their pronounced taste and aroma. This is exactly the kind of raspberry Orange Miracle.
Breeding history of the variety
The Orange Chudo variety, like most other raspberry varieties, appeared thanks to the painstaking work of the breeder I.V. Kazakov at VSTISP in the Bryansk region. The variety is quite young, entered into the State Register only in 2009. Recommended for growing in any Russian region.
Description of the variety
The plant has a tall and powerful, medium spreading and erect bush, the height of which can vary from 150 to 200 cm. Its thick, light brown shoots with a weak waxy bloom and weak pubescence have a great educational ability. Green, wrinkled leaves are often curled. On the shoots there are many medium-sized green and brown thorns, usually located in the upper part of the stem. The variety is remontant; two harvests of berries can be harvested in one season. The tasting score of the fruit on a five-point system is 4 points. Berries are versatile, they can be used both for fresh consumption and for canning.
Ripening terms
The ripening time of the crop is average, the first harvest begins on July 10-15, and the second from August 20 and lasts until the first frost.
Yield
Orange Miracle has a good yield, about 2.5 kg of berries are harvested from the bush during the season.
Berries and their taste
Large yellow berries, when fully ripe, become bright orange with a shine, have an elongated conical shape. Their weight varies from 5.5 to 12 g, and the size can be up to 4 cm in length. Despite the good density, the pulp of the berries is very tender with a sweet and sour taste and a pronounced aroma. Thanks to this structure, they can be transported over long distances.
Growing features
The Orange Miracle variety will grow well in a sunny, elevated place, far from groundwater. The plant is characterized by an average drought resistance; it does not require additional pollinators during flowering.
Site selection and soil preparation
In order for raspberries to give a good harvest, the bushes must be planted not just in illuminated areas, but in places where the daylight hours are as long as possible. Places on the south side are best suited. The sweetness and aroma of berries directly depend on the amount of sunlight.
Raspberry Orange Miracle is undemanding to the quality of the soil, so the seedlings can be planted in absolutely any soil. Despite this, the best yield indicators were noted in loamy soil, the acid-base balance should not exceed 6%.If this figure is higher, then the berries may be smaller or have a bland taste.
Pruning
Like other remontant varieties, raspberry bushes can be pruned in two ways. To get two harvests in the fall, you need to cut off all the shoots at the root. Thanks to this, next year there will be young branches on which the berries will ripen.
To obtain one harvest in autumn or spring, all two-year shoots are cut, leaving the branches of the current year.
Be sure to carry out sanitary pruning. It can be started from spring to autumn, removing weak and dry branches, as well as unnecessary lateral shoots that thicken the plantation.
Watering and feeding
The Orange Miracle does not tolerate drought well, so watering should be carried out regularly based on the moisture content of the soil. For the full growth of young shoots and the ovary of inflorescences, it begins immediately after the spring melt or rainwater dries. And also it is necessary to control watering during the ripening of the berries. It should be systematic, without stagnation. Excessive moisture can provoke the appearance of fungal diseases.
As for dressing, in the spring, plants require nitrogen-containing fertilizers: chicken droppings or mullein. Thanks to nitrogen, the characteristics of the bush are improved.
Before the beginning of the peduncle, it is necessary to apply mineral fertilizers such as potassium sulfate, compost or wood ash. They improve the quality of the fruit. When planting young seedlings, it is necessary to adhere to the gap between the bushes 0.7 m, and between the rows 2 m. This is because the plant has a tall bush and grows strongly, and thanks to this planting scheme, air and sunlight pass well.
Frost resistance and preparation for winter
The variety has good frost resistance in regions with snowy winters. In areas where there is little snow, the roots must be covered. For this, mulch, sawdust or straw are suitable.
Diseases and pests
Orange Miracle is resistant to diseases and pests, which corresponds to the level of standard varieties. High resistance to fungal infections makes this variety especially popular in regions with high humidity. Despite this, shrubs can be affected by aphids or stem gall midge, raspberry beetle. To prevent the appearance of pests, it is better to carry out preventive work using a solution of Bordeaux liquid or copper sulfate. Preventive methods are also regular weeding, loosening of the soil, and removal of replacement shoots. Additionally, you can plant a bed of garlic along the raspberry tree. It can be planted very densely, it will not only prevent young raspberry shoots from growing outside its area, but also, thanks to its smell, will prevent the occurrence of diseases or the appearance of harmful insects.
Unfortunately, raspberries, like other plants, do not bypass various diseases and pests. Only armed with the knowledge and the necessary means for this, you can cope with such troubles. To help the plant, it is very important to be able to recognize the disease in time and begin timely treatment.
Reproduction
Since the variety of yellow raspberries is distinguished by a large distribution of basal processes, this method of reproduction is most often used. A similar method is breeding by dividing the bush. The root is divided into several parts and transplanted into prepared holes.
Review overview
Having carefully studied the reviews of gardeners, we can say that this variety is popular, especially attracted by a pleasant sweet taste and abundant fruiting. The berries are well removed from the stalk, thanks to the dry and dense pulp, they can be grown for marketing and transportation over long distances.
The only drawback is that the thorns are very sharp even on young shoots, which is not very convenient during harvesting. The bushes grow strongly, they are very tall, so it is necessary to install additional support.
