  • high percentage of seed germination;

  • unpretentious care;

  • absence of significant mechanical damage during transportation;

  • universal purpose;

  • fast separation of the protective surface layer;

  • the presence of a large amount of vitamins and minerals;

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and bulbs

Onion Stardust F1 is a powerful plant with an erect deciduous rosette and a thickened neck. The height of the rich green deciduous mass ranges from 20 cm to 30 cm.The entire above-ground part of the culture has a light matte coating, as well as a juicy and dense structure.

Depending on the degree of maturity and the region of cultivation, the weight of the bulbs can be from 30 to 50 grams. The shape of small heads can be either spherical or in the form of a rhombic prism. The upper integumentary scales are silvery-white, while the inner layers are pearlescent white. A distinctive feature is the loose fit of the upper protective layers to the inner ones.

Purpose and taste

The sweet taste and spicy notes of Stardust onion make it versatile to use. The harvested crop can be used both for the preparation of fresh salads and as an integral ingredient in the preparation of soups, hodgepodge, meat and fish dishes. Onions do not lose their taste when preserved, pickled and even frozen and dried.

Maturation

An unpretentious high-yielding hybrid belongs to early crops, in which the harvest of the second year of cultivation occurs 120 days after the appearance of the first shoots.

During the period of mass harvesting, the percentage of maturity of the bulbs reaches 85%, and after a short storage, the percentage reaches 98%.

Yield

A distinctive feature of a high-yielding unpretentious hybrid is the ability to harvest in the first and second years of the growing season. From a plot of 1 m2 in the first year of cultivation, an average of 3 kg of succulent deciduous mass can be harvested. In the second year of growing a hybrid, when planting seedlings, you can collect from 4 to 6 kg of juicy bulbs from a plot of 1 m2. If all agrotechnical requirements are observed, the amount of the harvested crop can reach 8 kg. Large-scale cultivation for the purpose of obtaining economic profit makes it possible to obtain from 42 to 45 tons of onion heads from an area of 1 hectare.

Growing and care

It is possible to increase the quality of the harvest and the juiciness of the fruits when growing a hybrid variety of onions by observing all agrotechnical rules. It is best to plant a heat-loving crop in well-lit areas, protected from strong currents of cold winds. The crop is able to form the maximum amount of yield on fertile soils and chernozems with slightly alkaline acidity. Sowing seed for green mass and sowing is best done in the second and third decade of April. Before planting, the seeds must be soaked in warm water and treated with disinfectant solutions and growth stimulants. Seed material consumption for a plot of 1 m2 is 250 pcs. The sowing depth should not exceed 15 mm, and the distance between the beds should be kept in the region of 30 cm. It is possible to increase the germination percentage and protect the crop from spring frosts by creating film shelters. Throughout the growing season, plants need regular watering, weeding and weeding.

Cultivation of the culture in the second year involves planting seedlings in the ground. In early spring, the heads must be carefully sorted out, and part of the top must be cut off. In the first decade of May, the sevok must be planted in the ground. The depth of the holes should not exceed 5 cm, and the optimal distance between the bulbs is 12 cm.The width between the rows is 25-30 cm.

The frequency of watering a crop depends on the region of cultivation and seasonal weather conditions. The average frequency of watering is once every 7 days. Moisturizing the soil should be stopped 2 weeks before harvesting. To increase yields, it is necessary to regularly weed the beds to a depth of at least 5 cm while removing weeds. Loosening the soil will accelerate the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the root system, which will positively affect the quality of the onion. We should not forget about the enrichment of the soil with mineral and organic fertilizers, which must be carried out every 14 days. It is possible to simplify the process of caring for the crop and significantly reduce labor costs by mulching the beds.

Since the onion is an unpretentious and cold-resistant plant, it can be planted both in spring and autumn. It is necessary to properly prepare the planting material, competently prepare the garden bed and determine the timing of planting.

To grow a large and tasty onion crop, you need to take good care of it from planting to harvesting. Watering is an important part of outdoor crop care. Thanks to timely watering, the onion will be able to grow normally, form a bulb, and grow greens.

The bow is not as unpretentious as it seems. For good growth, you need fertile soil, quality care and nutritious fertilizers. Without top dressing, the bulbs will grow small, and the greens will not be lush. At different stages, it should be fed with different substances. The vegetable needs organic and mineral feeding. A good result for fertilizing onions is the use of folk remedies.

Disease and pest resistance

Before starting the cultivation of this hybrid variety of onions, it is necessary to carefully study its susceptibility to diseases and pests. In most cases, the culture resists viral and fungal infections. However, the hybrid can be affected by true and downy mildew. Sometimes onion flies and stem nematodes can be seen in the beds. To obtain a high-quality and juicy harvest, vegetable breeders recommend regularly treating the culture with chemical and biological preparations, as well as growing carrots near onions.

Despite the fact that the onion is a very useful plant, capable of repelling and killing many microbes and bacteria, it itself is often damaged and suffers from various misfortunes. Diseases and pests of onions can significantly reduce the yield. It is necessary to correctly determine the presence of this or that disease and take appropriate measures in time.

To get a good harvest, you should not only properly care for it, but also harvest it at a certain time. You can remove the onion from the garden only after it is fully ripe. Collecting bulbs in the middle lane usually begins in August, closer to the middle of the month.
After harvesting the onion, it is important to preserve it as long as possible, without losing quality. For this, the raw materials must be properly prepared. You can store onions in different ways. It is important to observe a certain mode of temperature and humidity in the room.
