Swing from a bar: features, drawings and manufacturing

A swing from a bar is a great way to keep your child busy in the country. Firstly, when rocking, the vestibular apparatus is trained, and secondly, coordination of movements improves (the child learns to simultaneously control the legs and body, adjusting his movement to the movement of the swing), and thirdly, it is just a lot of fun. You can buy a children's swing, but it is much more pleasant to do it yourself, besides, if you use a bar as a material, then they will turn out to be environmentally friendly, strong and durable.

First of all, you need to understand that a timber is not a log. A bar is a square lumber that has 100 mm (10 cm) on each side. This material is made either from round logs, or glued from boards. The most optimal timber for the manufacture of a country swing is a regular construction one. It provides easy fitting of parts and joining them at the corners, has an attractive cost.

It is easy to make a garden swing for children and adults of various designs from a bar. The main design of a country swing is a crossbar with an A-shaped stand, on which a seat from a board is attached with two ropes. With good drawings, a small amount of free time and hands adapted to working with a tree, you can assemble an intricate original swing-bench or even a swing with a complex swing system.

The choice of material directly depends on the load that the garden swing will have to experience. For one person, you can take a beam thinner, for two - thicker. When organizing entertainment for only one child, you can limit yourself to a rectangular bar with a section of 70x50 mm. However, if there are two children in the family or it is assumed that adults will also swing, then the racks should be made 100x100 mm in size. If you choose a beam with a section of 150X150 mm, then the structure will withstand a total weight of 200 kg, which means that not only two adult men, but also two children can swing on the swing.

The advantage of this type of swing is its incredible stability on flat surfaces - concrete, asphalt, a veranda with a wooden or tiled surface, well-tamped ground. Due to their weight, they stand securely on supports, however, if desired, two adult men can move them from place to place.

The type of construction is called A-shaped, because the support consists of two beams fastened at an angle and connected by a crossbar in the form of the letter "A". A crossbar is attached to these two supports.

The height of the support is 215 cm, the distance between the two divorced ends of the beams must be at least 160 cm. The angle of inclination of the legs of the support in relation to each other should be 40 degrees. The distance between the two supports is from 180 to 220 cm. The 15 cm wide crossbar that holds the two beams together can be duplicated. One at a height of 20 cm from the ground, the second - about 100 cm from the ground.

If you cannot attach the swing with brackets, then the beam will have to be dug in, respectively, the height of the beam for support is taken 50 cm more than initially. Before installation, the base must be treated with antiseptics and bioprotective oils (you can simply immerse the ends of the timber in recycled oil). Put the racks in the holes, sprinkle with gravel and pour concrete.

Additionally, pull the crossbar with two beams, fasten with nails. Pull the racks themselves together with pins. You can also nail additional fasteners on nails and pins in the area of ​​the connection of the racks (like fastenings under the shelves in the closet), and put a horizontal bar on top and pull it with pins to the racks.

There are a great variety of suspended swing benches. The simplest one can be made without complex machines and calculations. The seat consists of three beams 48-50 cm long, placed on the end and three planks nailed from above. The back is three more bars of 70 cm, laid horizontally, and three boards nailed to them. The backrest bars are screwed to the seat bars - the bench is ready. To attach ropes to it, holes are drilled in the bars of the seat, the rope is tied in a knot. The rope is attached to the back with hooks driven into the timber.

The simplest fastener is to tie the ropes to the beam using a “horse” knot. With this knot, horses are tied to pegs in the pasture. If the horse pulls on the rope (in our case, the swing acts as a horse), the rope is tightened more. However, to untie the horse from the peg, all you have to do is pull on the other end of the rope. The advantages of fastening include the simplicity of the assembly itself. The disadvantage of this method is the long-term alignment of all four corners of the bench on a horizontal level.

The second way is to drill through the crossbar and insert a bolt into the hole, which is tightened with an eye nut (ring nut). Washers are placed under the head of the bolt so that the head does not press through the tree. A rope, cable, chain is pulled into the hole of the nut, a carabiner is hung.
