Cultivator oil: selection and replacement
One of the most important factors affecting the engine is the oil and its timely replacement. To determine the best oil for your cultivator, you need to fully study the principle of operation of the device itself. Only then can you accurately determine which oil will be optimal.
Varieties of oils
Select the right engine oil to prolong the life of your 4-stroke engine. In addition, its untimely replacement leads to rapid wear and a reduction in the life of the unit. How to choose the right oil, how long does it take to replace it?
Any technique is accompanied not only by instructions for use, but also by a passport.
In this manual, each manufacturer indicates which grade of oil is best suited and will extend the life of the equipment. Any lubricant in the engine serves:
- for lubrication and sealing of mechanisms;
- reduces the formation of carbon deposits;
- for cooling to avoid overheating;
- protects against rapid wear;
- reduces noise;
- prolongs engine performance;
- for its complete or partial cleaning.
During the air filter process, grease and its substances accumulate on the walls in the cylinder. This sludge contaminates all engine components and greatly complicates the lubrication steps.
It is for this reason that each lubricant contains antioxidant components that help cleanse the cylinder walls from carbon deposits in order to prolong the operation of the walk-behind tractor.
Different climatic conditions require different types of oil. All lubricants are classified according to the following parameters:
- composition;
- viscosity;
- way to use.
Difference of oils
Different cultivator models have different motors, so what do you need to know exactly? which oil is suitable for a particular motor.
For internal combustion engines
Manufacturers prescribe the use of oil for both gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines. After extensive testing, the factory establishes a list of different lubricants that are excellent for the product. For a gasoline engine, it is recommended to pour the following fluids into an oil container:
- SB at medium load;
- SD for working with PCV;
- SA at low loads;
- SE for 1980 engines;
- SC without PVC;
- SH is universal.
Best oils to reduce diesel consumption:
- CC at increased load;
- CB at medium load using high sulfur fuel;
- Low load CA.
For reducer
Any walk-behind tractor includes a gearbox, for which it is also necessary to use transmission lubricant and timely replace it. For high performance, the following transmission substances should be poured into the worm gear:
- TEP - 15, M-10V2, M-10G2 are excellent for the summer period and can operate in temperatures ranging from -5 degrees and above;
- TM-5, M-8G2 are used in a colder period at temperatures down to -25 degrees.
For four-stroke ICE cultivators
Today, cultivator tillers are equipped with four-stroke engines, which do not have an oil pump. In them, the bearing is located just below the connecting rod head, and the lubrication process takes place by scooping it out of the crankcase. And other parts and mechanisms consume lubricant using a spray gun.This type of engine operates at unstable temperatures due to the air cooling system. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to find the right lubricant, but the manufacturer has identified several suitable options:
- Expert four-stroke semi-synthetic all-season grease;
- Specific for diesel and gasoline;
- Supreme high quality mineral oil.
Using car oil
Changing the lubricant in any engine is an extremely important task, because otherwise there is no way to ensure high-quality and long-term operation of all engine systems. The service life of the cultivator depends directly on the quality of the lubricant poured in, so it is not recommended to use automotive oil.
Do not forget that changing the lubricant will cost several times less than purchasing new parts for the unit.

About car oils exactly noticed! Any equipment needs to be filled with appropriate oils, then it will last longer. For example, for a cultivator, I take oil from the Liquid's garden program - Garten-Wintergerate-Oil 5W-30. I have been using it for the 4th year, the cultivator still works like a clock.
