The origin of the name of the style direction "chalet" has its own history. This was the name of the small huts in which the Alpine shepherds took refuge from the weather, sometimes the style is called “Alpine chalet”.

The color scheme of the chalet is designed in restrained tones: a wide variety of shades of brown, from light beige to almost black chocolate, black and gray variations of various saturations.

It is appropriate to use a snow-white color that goes well with all shades. It is allowed to introduce elements of bright color into the interior: green, deep blue and red.

The best option for flooring is untreated wood planks. However, modern trends in design improvement from a practical point of view allow the use of ceramic tiles that imitate a stone surface. Such a choice of flooring is harmonious in this style and is characterized by maximum practicality: it is durable, reliable in operation, and can be easily cleaned (which is important in a particular kitchen space).

The style ceiling space also has its own characteristics. Ideal for use on wooden beams on the ceiling. Modern technologies allow replacing such heavy structures with false polyurethane elements. The color of the beams can either coincide with the main color of the ceiling, or be contrasting.

The creation of the maximum effect of the naturalness of the materials used is created thanks to the texture of the wall paintings, which are characterized by natural natural irregularities that imitate a stone or wooden surface. For walls, textured plaster or lining is often used.

The furniture used should be simple and multifunctional, as much as possible resembling a rustic one. Most often, furniture in dark colors is used.

• Work surfaces, suites, facades - everything is made of natural wood.

• For recreation areas, it is possible to use wicker furniture with leather finishes or textiles with floral prints.

• In such furniture, open shelves are often used, on which you can display various retro or vintage things, kitchen utensils.

• Massive dining table - only wooden. Installed in the center of the kitchen. Most often it has a rectangular shape and large intricate curly legs, possibly with crossbars.

• Wooden chairs should also be solid. They can be equipped with soft seats with cushions in leather, fur or textile covers.

• An excellent option is to use antiques or simply aged furniture.

• Surfaces made of beech, ash, oak, meranti and their analogues are the best options for wood textures for chalet-style furniture.

In such a kitchen, skillfully selected decor will look harmonious and soften the rough aura of space: natural elements (dried flowers, etc.), animal skins, deer antlers, hunting trophies, weapons.

Accessories can be very diverse. Special requirements for them: they do not have to be plastic and must look aged. Ceramic containers are appropriate: both decorative (vases, figurines) and practical (for storing bulk products). Canning jars with fabric lids tied with twine, bunches of onions, garlic and peppers can enhance the village theme.

The textiles used must have a dense structure. Woolen fabrics are often used. On the floor, carpet or felt coverings are appropriate, which not only create coziness, but also warm the room. The kitchen will be decorated with fabric chair covers, linen or hemp tablecloths.

You should be especially careful when choosing curtains: no layering should be allowed, only natural fabrics of both dark and light colors are used. Curtains of dark red, wine tone, eggplant color are often used in such an interior. Sometimes a checkered or striped fabric is used. The best option is cotton, linen, wool or cashmere fabrics. Embroidery is possible on plain fabrics.

It should be made of cast iron, copper or wood. When using ceramic dishes, it is recommended to choose a terracotta color. The presence of chalet-style glassware is inappropriate.

The utensils are not hidden in cabinets, but put on shelves or hung on various hooks or pendants, which must be made of dark metal.

It is unwise to live in our time and not enjoy the benefits of modern technology. The use of kitchen appliances is natural, but the choice of them for use in a chalet style needs to be approached very carefully: no shine of glossy surfaces and clearly defined edges should be visible. White technology also has no place here.

It is better to hide some of the equipment behind the doors of the kitchen set. Small appliances can be disguised as a facade. It is recommended to decorate the hood with brick or masonry.

Ideal for using a fireplace in the kitchen. However, modern small-sized kitchens do not always allow you to place a full-fledged fireplace. But the hood hidden under a stone or brick will somehow make up for such a deficiency and create the illusion of a hearth.

The most diverse material for shades can be used: metal, vine, rattan, rice paper, wooden planks or clay pots. Stained-glass colored shades, which repeat the colors of curtains or other used textiles, give a special comfort and completeness to the kitchen composition.

When choosing mixers, you should give preference to coarse L-shaped retro-style taps with valves.They should be made of bronze or other dark metal.

Sinks should also be metal or faux / natural stone, embedded at the same level with the countertop surface.

The door in such a kitchen must be made of wood and have two doors. If the entrance is arched, then it is decorated with stone or wood.

Chalets are classified as minimalist styles: nothing superfluous - everything is restrained. At the same time, such an environment creates maximum comfort and warmth. It is pleasant to sit here both in a friendly company and in a close family circle or relax with a cup of tea alone. Such a kitchen creates a feeling of special reliability and protection of the home.
