Kitchen design with a stove
Living fire came to us from the past. Modern fireplaces are being built more and more electric or even fake ones. A real stove is a rare piece of luck for the interior of a country house. She surprises and pleases, creates an atmosphere of home. At the same time, lovers of ultra-modern furnishings and kitchen appliances will not appreciate it, because such a “detail” as a Russian stove cannot be hidden or disguised; you will have to obey its requirements and equip the interior in a rustic style.
Advantages and disadvantages
The advantage of the Russian stove is undeniable. First of all, a nostalgic attraction to the past helps designers to make modern kitchens distinctive, original and especially comfortable. The oven has its positive aspects:
- it warms up the house well and keeps it warm for a long time;
- has a spacious warm bed, which is loved by everyone in the family, from small to old;
- the dishes cooked in it are unusually tasty and aromatic;
- a kitchen with a Russian stove acquires an unusually warm and friendly atmosphere;
- the stove design is always unique.
The negative aspects include the following:
- for a kitchen with a stove, a peculiar design is needed, this is its positive and negative side at the same time;
- the oven takes up a lot of space;
- to keep the fire going, you need wood or coal;
- certain skills are required for cooking;
- if the stove is cold, it takes time to warm up the house.
General rules of the rustic style
The stove assumes certain design solutions. In this situation, the ideal setting for the kitchen would be a design in the style of Russian country. Adhering to its canons, you can harmoniously fit the stove into the interior of the kitchen of a country house.
At the same time, it does not oblige to create the interior of the Russian rural life. You can beat this design element in the Tuscan style, Scandinavian country, French Provence.
The following features are characteristic of the interior of a country-style kitchen:
- materials used in finishing the stove and the surrounding area must be fire-resistant: whitewash, tiles, stone, plaster;
- all furnishings in the kitchen are created from natural materials;
- a large amount of wood is used, literally in everything: in furniture, in creating a plank floor, walls;
- the country-style ceiling is whitewashed, painted in calm tones, hemmed with wooden clapboard or decorated with false beams;
- artificial and natural stone or brick is used, especially for walls and floor areas adjacent to the stove;
- the interior should look rough, simple and cozy;
- there are many handicrafts in the decor, as well as pottery, ceramic and copper dishes on display.
For each type of country, stoves are made in different ways, and you can see from the masonry which folk style it belongs to. Let's take a look at some of these styles.
Russian hut
A stove in the style of Russian country should be laid out according to the rules of stove business, and not look like a banal fireplace. A lounger and a hob will help not only create an interior close to the historical village, but will also be quite functional.
In order for the design to resemble the rural life of our ancestors, red, brown, white and yellow shades should be chosen in the decoration. There should be a lot of wood in the interior: in furniture and finishing of the floor, walls, ceiling.The decor uses textiles with embroidery, dishes made of clay, ceramics, non-ferrous metal, onion braids, a samovar, dried medicinal herbs and wildflowers.
Scandinavian rustic style
Scandinavian stoves are for heating, they are narrow, long, like a pipe, and there are also for cooking, such options vaguely resemble the Russian, only smaller and without a cozy lounger. Kitchens of this style are white, light, with wood or stone floors. The walls are paneled with wood or painted white - even brickwork can be painted. A lot of decor in the form of kitchen utensils without a hint of modernity.
American ranch
To create the interior, fireplace-type stoves lined with natural stone are used. The entire kitchen interior is made in shades of brown: from the color of dark chocolate to coffee with milk. Only stone and wood are present in the decoration and furniture. The furniture is massive, solid, the kitchen is equipped with heavy chandeliers and a minimum of modern technology.
Tuscan style
Italian cuisine with a stove is quite possible to arrange in a private house. In a room setting, stoves are sometimes built into the walls. Most often they work only for heating, but a hearth with live fire is provided in any case. Tuscan cuisine is characterized by stone or wood floors, light-colored walls or made of brick or stone. There is a lot of brown in the interior, but it does not dominate the whole decor, as it does in American country.
French country style
Provence is a gentle, cozy rustic direction that is also easy to equip in a kitchen with an oven. Any materials are involved in the decoration of the premises: stone, brick, paint, tile, whitewash - this facilitates the integration of the hearth into the interior. The kitchen looks light, with whitewashed furniture, aged floorboards and faded textiles. A variety of decor is inherent in Provence: lace napkins, tablecloths, pillows on chairs, ceramic and copper dishes displayed on open shelves and rails, fresh flowers.
Chalet style
Initially, the rough style was used for hunting and shepherd's houses, so it has a simple, solid setting. When it is cold and snowy outside, it can seem like a real fairy tale to be surrounded by simple pieces of furniture and household items heated by a warm stove. Natural materials are involved in the decoration of the kitchen: wood and stone. The stoves seem to be copied from the sites of primitive people, as they are made of rough, unworked stone.
It is not easy to combine a modern kitchen, teeming with technology, with a good-natured rural interior, topped by a real stove. Whoever succeeds, gets a calm, comfortable and functional environment.
