In the housing market, studio apartments are in great demand. The reasons for this demand can be explained by the fact that the area of ​​the dwelling, in fact, is a single multifunctional space with a combined kitchen-living room. The special structural characteristics of such an apartment make it possible to embody the original design in the room.

To combine the kitchen and living area in standard-type apartments, it is necessary to dismantle the interior walls. This procedure must be agreed with the relevant authorities, otherwise violators face a large fine and an order to return the wall to its original place at their own expense.

The combined kitchen-living room has a number of significant advantages over delimited rooms:

• expansion of space and creation of zones for the embodiment of the original ideas of the designer;
• the room becomes lighter due to more windows;
• it is convenient to communicate with guests who are in the hall, as well as watch the game of the child, who is sitting there on the carpet in front of the TV;

• the ability to create an unusual interior design;
• the ability to invite a large number of guests to the holidays;
• the ability to minimize spending on the purchase of household appliances, because one large TV in the living room can replace the radio and pendant in the kitchen.

From the kitchen area, not separated from the living room by a wall and a door, smells spread to the entire home. A good fume hood will help partially solve the problem.

At night, those who sleep in the living room will be annoyed by the rumbling of the refrigerator, the beeping of the microwave oven, the noise from the hood, the inclusion of auto-heating in the boiler, the sound of pouring water from the tap.

With a partial delineation of the total area of ​​the apartment in 22-24 sq. m. to the kitchen and living room, the designers recommend giving no more than 20% of the room for the kitchen area, since the main life (arrival of guests, rest, children's games, watching TV) will be carried out in the living room.

So that the kitchen does not look like a space with a chaotic pile of objects, the distance between kitchen surfaces must be at least 1 meter... The sink, refrigerator and hob should be close to each other so that they can be easily reached.

The lighting in the kitchen and living room should be thought out in a special way, despite the fact that the rooms are combined. In the kitchen, additional lighting is required for the work area, and in the living room, for the dining room.

It is better to place the table on the border of two zones to create a zoning effect.

For zoning the total area, you can use drywall. A partition made of this material with an unusual geometric shape will look very interesting in the overall concept of the room.A more practical option is a sliding partition, since, if necessary, it can be completely pushed apart, creating a single space, or, conversely, completely closed (for example, when frying fish in the kitchen).

Suitable zoning elements: bar counter, made in the general style of the apartment, wooden arches, sofas, including corner sofas. Due to the different levels of flooring, you can conditionally distinguish between the space of the kitchen and the living room.

In order to slightly enlarge a small room visually, it is recommended to use materials of light colors in the decoration. If it is better to choose the ceiling and wall covering in creamy white shades, then the floor can be made 2-3 shades darker.

If the flooring is going to be monochromatic, it is recommended to use a laminate as a base. In the recreation area (near the sofa), you can lay an original carpet. If the floor covering in the kitchen and living room is planned to be excellent, then it is better to choose carpet for the hall, and put tiles in the working area.

It is recommended to mount the kitchen set in one line or with an approach to the corner (with the letter "G"). The furniture itself should not be bulky, otherwise the small space of the kitchen will completely disappear behind it. It is worth purchasing more hanging drawers and cabinets that can be installed all the way to the ceiling.

Furniture in the kitchen should be in harmony with the color of the set in the hall. Furniture in two similar colors (for example, yellow-green) will allow you to add interesting color accents to the overall design of the room.

The seating space should have at least a little "air", so a small sofa, two armchairs and a table will be enough here. To relieve the relaxation area from furniture, you can make hinged shelves, and not put the TV on a table or basement cabinet, but hang it with a bracket.

It is better to choose a sofa with a folding mechanism, in case it is necessary for spending the night. This piece of furniture should be located with the back wall to the kitchen. It is better to decorate the windows in the living room with roller blinds, light transparent organza curtains or tulle.

The combined kitchen-living room can be decorated in different style directions.

• Loft. The seating area and the place where the table is installed must be decorated with brick, natural or its imitation.
• High tech. Allows you to equip the interior with the latest technology and use non-standard furnishing options.

• Minimalism. All furniture should be very laconic, modular, monochromatic. Compliance with these rules will visually expand the room. The correct lighting is of great importance, which creates an additional gloss, and also contributes to the visual expansion of the space.

• Scandinavian. This style involves the design of the kitchen-living room in light colors: cream, light gray, white, pale blue, pale green, light brown. Textile elements and wooden details will help to create coziness in the room. Furniture should also be made in light colors, be lightweight and compact in appearance.

• Neoclassicism. The classic rules of space design are taken as a basis, but with experiments. For example, sandy yellow and green can be used as the main color scheme.

So that the interior of the combined kitchen-living room does not look clumsy, there should be no more than 3 primary colors. If the room is rectangular, massive furniture must be placed in the corners, then the space will look more harmonious.

In elongated rooms, it is not recommended to install mirrors on short walls, and to glue wallpaper in a horizontal strip on long ones.

The combined kitchen-living room, decorated in white and brown tones, looks cozy. Within the framework of this palette, all the basic accessories were selected (textiles on the sofa, leather armchair, chandeliers, mosaic on the kitchen apron, dining table, paintings, stretch ceiling border and kitchen wall cabinet decor) that effectively set off the main tone of the room - white.

The room looks nice in gray-yellow tones. Moreover, yellow is used on the kitchen facade and sofa inserts, and the main tone of the room is gray. The latter also has gradations: on the floor it is darker, the color of asphalt, and on the walls it almost merges with white. The wall panel with paintings echoes the color of the floor covering and makes the design complete, harmonious. The pinkish illumination on the stretch ceiling adds a positive effect to the rather austere design.

The combined kitchen-living room looks unusual, the zoning of which is carried out in different style directions. The kitchen is made in high-tech style. This is manifested in the unusual shape of the hood, the non-standard configuration of the chairs, the most flat line of the furniture set (where the appliances are built in). The living room is made in a Scandinavian style with typical brown tones. The rooms also differ in floor coverings (tiles, laminate), their color scheme and height.
