White acrylic paints are considered one of the most versatile and demanded for the finishing of various surfaces. They are suitable for covering walls, ceilings, batteries, pipes of communications, they fit well on wallpaper, wood panels, plastic. Used for building facades, external concrete, reinforced concrete structures.

Acrylic mixtures do not have a pungent odor, they are non-toxic and do not contain flammable substances.

The main characteristics include:

  • moisture resistance - suitable for rooms with high humidity;
  • immunity to temperature extremes - they do not deform, do not change their properties;
  • wear resistance - the outer layer is resistant to external influences;
  • profitability - have a lower consumption compared to other paints and varnishes (LKM).

Composition and properties

Acrylic paints are produced on a water basis - water-dispersion and water-based. Aqueous dispersions dissolve exclusively with water, emulsions - with an organic solvent, they contain white spirit. The average drying time for one layer is within the range - from 40 minutes to an hour.

Mixtures consist of several coloring materialsmade on the basis of solid particles and polymers. The amount of "grind" (dispersion) determines the quality of the paint, affects the smoothness of the painted surface, color saturation and hiding power.

Consumption, with the complete overlap of the old color with the new composition, is from 200 to 400 ml per 1 sq. M.

According to the initial whiteness, they are distinguished: super white, white, milky and some other shades. The purity of the color is determined by the degree of purification of the main elements - chalk, talcum or marble flour.

The higher the degree of purification, that is, several cycles are carried out, the lighter and brighter the color. It is especially important to pay attention to this information when choosing paint for ceilings.

To impart special properties, the mixtures are filled with special substances. For example, in order to increase the drying rate, desiccants are added, and with an increase in the fire-fighting characteristics of the coating, fire retardants are added that impede the combustion process.

The washable ability of the wall is ensured by the presence of acrylic in the paint. But you should not use strong abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning, the strength of the coating requires the use of only a soap solution.

Acrylic paints are produced in the form of enamels, varnishes, paints and aerosols. They are used for all types of surfaces, except for the floor. Pipes, ovens and radiators are often coated with heat-resistant white enamels. Aerosols are used to paint small surfaces.

The classification is extensive:

  • by appointment - for internal or external work on the street;
  • by type of surface - for wood, brickwork, metal, concrete, etc.:
  • by properties - universal, water-repellent, heat-resistant;
  • by the type of outer layer - glossy, matte;
  • by composition - acrylic-silicone (matte, for outdoor use), styrene-acrylic for painting facades, vinyl-acrylic (super white, universal).

A water-based mixture, which is made from special acrylic resins, is popular. It is ideal for painting walls in public buildings or wet areas. It fits well on different types of surfaces: concrete, plaster, drywall. Low wear rate.

Interior paint is the leader among universal mixtures. Often creates a matte outer layer.

Easy to apply:

  • on already plastered walls;
  • concrete or brick;
  • moisture resistant drywall;
  • Chipboard, fiberboard;
  • oil or alkyd base;
  • metal pipes.

Do not neglect the recommendations of the manufacturers.

The labeling "for walls" or "for ceilings" implies different composition and technical characteristics of the product.

Structural paints constitute a special group. They are obtained by mixing a dispersed or emulsion base with special pastes or powders. Additives do not affect the change in properties, they only add relief or texture to the surface. Walls can feel like sandpaper to the touch, with special particles having a fluorescent or shimmering effect.

Selection rules

Choosing the right paint, first of all, they are guided by the purpose of the room and the surface feature. Some formulations are adapted to high humidity, others, heat-resistant, are intended only for batteries. For white mixtures, an important indicator is the reaction to exposure to ultraviolet radiation, when it comes to repairing a room located on the sunny side.

Gloss effect

Usually used to increase the illumination of rooms and nurseries. Glare creates airiness, and a small amount of reflectivity increases the space in the room. Glossy walls in the kitchen and bathroom will help hide the inevitable splash marks and make wet cleaning easier. Do not forget that the composition of paints for these premises should include antifungal and moisture resistant components.

The main condition for creating a radiant effect is the perfectly even state of the painted surface.

The gloss makes the smallest roughness and unevenness noticeable. The same conditions are necessary when using acrylic varnishes, enamels with a pearlescent or metallic sheen.

Matte coating

Hides minor imperfections in the structure of walls and ceilings. White color allows you to visually increase the size of the room. Unfortunately, the structure of the coating reveals traces of dirt that are more difficult to wash off.

Matt paints are widely used to decorate living rooms, offices. For bedrooms, they are also selected with increased moisture absorption - vapor permeability.

Before you start painting, be sure to read the instructions in detail. Although the paint is safe for the skin, it is best to wear protective gloves.
