"Epin-extra" for indoor plants: a description of how to breed and use?
Cultivating indoor plants, even experienced flower growers often face a problem when their green pet does not adapt well after transplantation or other stressful situation, which manifests itself as growth retardation, foliage falling, and lack of flowering. To bring a home flower back to life requires the use of biological growth stimulants., one of which is an effective drug developed by Russian scientists called "Epin-extra".
Description
The biologically active drug "Epin-extra" has no analogues abroad, although it is very famous and highly valued there. It is produced only in Russia by the company-developer "NEST M" according to patent No. 2272044 from 2004.
The tool has found wide application in horticulture and horticulture, but, in addition, flower growers use "Epin-extra" for indoor plants, since this drug does not cause disfigurement of shoots and leaf plates in flowers.
Artificial phytohormone has the property of enhancing the immune forces of plants, and also significantly stimulates the growth of green mass and root system in them. The active ingredient is epibrassinolide, a steroid phytohormone. It starts the processes of cell division in a plant, thereby increasing their number. The substance epibrassinolide was developed artificially, but in terms of its chemical composition it is an analogue of the natural phytohormone that is found in every green plant. The vast majority of gardeners who have used Epin-extra are satisfied with its action. Today it is one of the most widespread and demanded products in crop production.
The main beneficial properties of the drug on plants are:
- the ability to accelerate the growth phases of plants and increase the duration of their flowering period;
- strengthening the immunity of plants to stressful situations, increasing their resistance to adverse environmental factors;
- increased germination of seeds and bulbs during their germination;
- acceleration of the growth of strong and viable seedlings;
- significant improvement in plant resistance to infectious and fungal diseases, invasion of insect pests, increased frost resistance;
- reducing the plant's need for a large amount of moisture, increasing its resistance to polluted and dry air;
- strengthening the adaptive properties of a indoor flower during its transplantation, increasing the rooting rate and survival rate of cuttings and young seedlings;
- an increase in the number of buds, an extension of the flowering phase and an improvement in the growth of young shoots of indoor plants.
The artificially synthesized phytohormone epibrassinolide has the ability to enhance the plant's own phytohormones, which can be significantly reduced under the influence of unfavorable factors.
Under the influence of the drug, the seemingly already hopelessly dying green spaces return to full growth and development. Against the background of the use of the drug in plants, fallen leaves grow again in the shortest possible time, young shoots are formed and peduncles are formed.
How to dilute?
The drug "Epin-extra" is produced in plastic ampoules with a volume of 1 ml, equipped with a lid, so that the concentrated solution can be taken strictly in the required amount. The ampoule is packed in a bag containing detailed instructions for the use of the drug. A phytohormonal agent in a concentrated form is not used; it must be diluted to spray the aerial parts of plants, where the agent is absorbed through leaf plates. For watering "Epin-extra" is unsuitable, since the root system of the plant does not assimilate it.
Although the product has a hazard class 4, that is, it is non-toxic, before starting work with the steroid hormone epibrassinolide, it is required to use personal protective equipment for the skin, eyes and respiratory tract.
Consider the procedure for preparing the working solution.
- Carefully study the instructions for use of the drug and choose the concentration required for the treatment of indoor plants.
- Prepare a measuring container, a wooden stirring stick and a pipette.
- Pour warm boiled water into a container and add a little citric (0.2 g / 1 l) or acetic acid (2-3 drops / 1 l). This is necessary in order to inactivate the possible content of alkali in the water, in the presence of which the drug loses its biological activity.
- Wear rubber gloves, a respirator and safety goggles.
- Using a pipette, take the required amount of the drug from the ampoule and transfer it to a measuring container with prepared acidified water. Then stir the composition with a stick.
- Pour the prepared solution into a spray bottle and start spraying indoor plants. This is best done with windows open, or with flowers outside.
The remains of the working solution can be used within 2-3 days, but the activity of epibrassinolide is retained only if this composition is stored in a dark place.
The safety of using the Epin-extra biostimulator for indoor plants is indisputable, but the manufacturer warns that an excessive concentration of the epibrassinolide substance is not recommended for use. To the same extent, it is not worthwhile to deliberately reduce the dosage of the drug when preparing solutions, since at low concentrations the declared effect may not fully manifest itself. The maximum amount of the product dissolved in 1 liter of water is considered to be 16 drops, and for 5 liters of solution, you can safely use the entire ampoule.
Application features
For flowers at home breeding biostimulator "Epin-extra" is used in two cases.
- In order to enhance plant growth. Spraying is performed three times: in early spring, in the middle of summer and in October. In winter, the drug is not used, since house flowers, like all other plants, enter a dormant phase during this period, and they do not need rapid growth.
- To improve adaptation when transplanting or during the period when you bought a new plant and brought home. In such cases, it makes sense to spray an indoor flower once a month. The deadline for such procedures is October.
Many novice growers believe that the preparation "Epin-extra" is such a universal plant food, along with mineral fertilizers... But despite the fact that the phytohormone really improves the growth and development of green pets, it would be wrong to purposefully use it as a fertilizer. The manufacturer advises supplementing plant nutrition with mineral fertilizers and Epin-extra treatments - both of these approaches will provide excellent results. First, an indoor flower is watered with a solution of complex fertilizers, then the soil is thoroughly loosened, the next step is spraying the foliage and shoots with phytohormone.
For healthy indoor plants, the manufacturer recommends using no more than 8 drops of the drug, diluted in 1000 ml of warm acidified water.
Experienced flower growers often grow indoor plants from seeds or bulbs at home. In this case, the Epin-extra biostimulator greatly simplifies the task associated with the germination of planting material.
- To improve the germination of flower seeds, the working solution should exceed their total weight by about 100 times. The concentration of the aqueous solution is 1 ml / 2000 ml. The processing time of seeds depends on their structure. If the seeds quickly absorb moisture and swell, then 5-7 hours of exposure will be quite enough for them, and in the case when the outer shell of the seeds is dense, they will need to be kept in the solution for 15-18 hours.
- The processing of flower bulbs at the same concentration of solution as for seeds is carried out by soaking for a period of at least 12 hours.
- For the successful growth of seedlings, spraying with a working solution prepared at the rate of 0.5 ml / 2500 ml is used. Such a volume will be sufficient to process a large number of seedlings, and if you do not have enough of it, then the amount of water and the drug must be proportionally reduced.
Florists who use phytohormonal preparations similar to Epin-extra, note that the epibrassinolide substance acts in comparison with them much softer and more effective. The results of the positive effect of the drug on the plant are noticeable in a very short time.
Precautionary measures
To achieve good results in stimulating plant growth, the drug "Epin-extra" should be used according to the instructions. It is important not to violate the recommended frequency of phytohormone use, since flowers have the ability to quickly get used to artificial stimulation, and over time, the development of their own reserve immunity processes in them significantly slows down. Houseplants begin to retard in development, waiting for external support. For this reason, it is not recommended to use the product more than once every 30 days.
When using a bioactive agent containing epibrassinolide, you need to pay attention to the fact that in this case the plant will need a much smaller amount of watering.
Therefore, in order not to disturb the moisture balance in the flower pot and not to provoke rotting of the root system, the plant treated with Epin-extra should be reduced in volume and frequency of watering by at least half.
If you decide to process an indoor flower at home, as an option, you can do it in the bathroom. After placing the flower on the bottom of the tub, you need to spray it, and then leave the plant there for 10-12 hours with the lights off. The bathroom is convenient because you can easily remove the drug particles from it with running water, and they will not settle on the upholstered furniture, as if you carried out this procedure in a room even with an open window. After the treatment, the bath and the room must be thoroughly rinsed with a solution of baking soda.
The drug "Epin-extra", if necessary, can be combined with other means, for example, with the insecticide "Fitoverm", the complex fertilizer "Domotsvet", the stimulator of the growth of the root system "Kornevin", the organic preparation "Heteroauxin". An important condition for the compatibility of drugs is the absence of alkali components in their composition.
To make the use of artificial phytohormone as effective as possible, pay attention to its shelf life - it is 36 months from the date of issue of the funds. If you have already opened the ampoule with the drug, then you can store it only in a dark and cool place, and its shelf life will now be only two days, after which the remains of the biostimulator will have to be disposed of.
After finishing work with Epin-extra solution, it is important to thoroughly wash your hands with soapy water, as well as wash your face and rinse your mouth with water.
It is best if you take a shower after you finish treating the plants. Throw away gloves and disposable respirator. The dishes in which you diluted the drug must be washed with soap and removed, excluding its use for other purposes. The surface on which you processed the flower should be wiped with a solution of baking soda, and the same should be done with the outside of the flower pot.
