Applying cloves for mosquitoes

You don't have to use fumigators to fight mosquitoes. Folk remedies will come to the rescue, including the well-known spice - cloves. It is considered one of the most effective agents that can help in the fight against blood-sucking insects. We will describe below what properties a clove has and how to use it.

Cloves are one of the best known spices. It is used not only as a fragrant spice, suitable for various dishes, but also helps in the fight against annoying mosquitoes.

First of all, cloves have a specific pungent odor that can scare off blood-sucking insects. Another useful property of this spice is that it has disinfecting, anti-inflammatory and antihistamine effects, which is why it copes well with the bites of harmful insects. If you treat the affected area with a mixture based on this spicy plant, the annoying itching will gradually stop, and the affected area itself will quickly heal and heal.

Clove-based products are often available at specialty stores to help protect you from mosquitoes. These preparations include essential oils of clove and cologne bottles. but it is not necessary to buy them: this kind of means can be prepared at home with your own hands.

Making an infusion or a clove cologne with your own hands is quite simple:

• you need 5 grams of the main component (cloves) and 250 milliliters of water - all this must be mixed and brought to a boil;
• the solution should be boiled for about 15-20 minutes, then it must be cooled and stirred with a liquid containing alcohol in a 1: 1 ratio;
• the resulting product can be safely used as a cologne, spraying it from a spray bottle, or applied as a lotion, applying it pointwise to the wrists or behind the ears.

For a child, you can prepare a similar solution, but without adding alcohol-containing liquids.

Another way to combat blood-sucking insects is a clove-based decoction. It is not difficult to brew it, and you can purchase the main component for this purpose at any spice store.

Cooking algorithm:

• you will need about 5-7 clove buds and 250 milliliters of hot water - all this must be stirred and boiled over low heat for about 10-15 minutes;
• then the resulting solution must be cooled and diluted with 50 milliliters of water, which must be boiled in advance.

Dry clove spice can also be used to make mosquito repellent. For this, in addition to the main component, you will also need lemon, the smell of which mosquitoes are very afraid of and try to avoid. Note that the selected fruit should be as juicy as possible, which will expand the radius of damage and increase the duration of its action.

Preparation of the product is unlikely to cause any difficulties. You will need to cut the lemon evenly in half and generously supply the pulp with clove spice.For these purposes, carnation twigs are also suitable. Next, put the lemon, cut upwards, on a saucer (so that juice does not flow out of it) and place it next to you, thereby providing yourself with protection from bloodsuckers.

In addition to cloves, this remedy can also be supplemented with other ingredients, including basil, mint, pine extract, tea tree oil. By adding one of these ingredients, you can significantly prolong the effect of the folk remedy.

The original essential oil based on cloves is very expensive, but in pharmacies it is possible to find it for 50-200 rubles, depending on the volume of the bottle and the manufacturer. Besides, in its pure form, it is very concentrated, which is why, after applying it, even in a small amount, the skin will be very hot.

Basically, the essential oil of clove is used to dilute water-alcohol solutions against mosquitoes. To do this, add a little alcohol and 5 drops of oil to a container with 50 milliliters of water. After that, it can be used as a spray to irrigate a room, clothes or skin.

Another recipe involves the use of lemon. You will need:

• 50 ml of ethanol;
• 25 ml of clove oil;
• 50 ml of lemon juice (freshly squeezed, of course);
• storage bottle (glass is best).

First, mix the juice and oil, then add alcohol, shake. Saturate cotton pads with the mixture and spread them around the apartment. You can also use it on your clothes before going outside.

The non-concentrated oil can be applied to exposed areas of the body - you only need 2-3 drops for this. The same remedy is suitable for soaking a wrist bracelet made of wooden beads with it, which will subsequently repel mosquitoes.

If you are out in nature and are annoyed by bloodsuckers, clove oil can be added to the fire, which requires a few drops of the product. At home, you can use an aroma lamp, which will provide you with protection from pests for 6 hours.

Clove oil can be added to the cream: you only need 2-3 drops of the product and a spoonful of cream (preferably baby).

In addition, clove essential oil is great for making mosquito bites with it.

To make an effective mosquito repellent, do not use ground cloves. Such a remedy has minimal effectiveness and soon ceases to act on parasites altogether.

Besides, for solutions it is necessary to use a quality product. This can be determined by the stalk of the plant. If it is elastic, and after it there is an oily trace on the paper, then this is a high-grade spice. The hardness and dryness of the petiole suggest otherwise.
