Garden strawberry Divnaya was obtained in the 80s of the last century. Currently, it is very popular not only among amateur gardeners, but also among professional farmers. The plant feels comfortable both in open areas and in greenhouses or hotbeds.
Description of the variety
The variety is determined by tall and straight bushes. Healthy plants look spectacular with a powerful green mass. Despite its height, the plant is compact. In appearance, it is easy to understand that a large number of berries can be harvested from one bush.
Peduncles are slightly curved, but tall, due to which the strawberries do not touch the ground. The leaves are large, bright green in color with a glossy surface. The plant is vigorous. Strawberries form a large number of whiskers, which are colored reddish brown.
Ripening terms
The Divnaya variety belongs to the superearly fruit crops. First of all, the harvest is obtained in the southern regions.
Yield
1 kilogram of berries is harvested from one bush, but experienced gardeners are able to increase the yield to 1.2 kilograms. Commercial cultivation produces 150 centners per hectare. Fruits easily tolerate transportation, retaining their shape and taste. Another feature is their high keeping quality.
Berries and their taste
Ripe strawberries turn deep red. The shape is elongated, blunt-conical. The neck is completely absent. The appearance of the fruit is so special that it cannot be confused with another variety. The weight of medium-sized fruits ranges from 20 to 40 grams. Under the shiny surface of the berries, there is a dense, but slightly dryish pulp without voids and veins. The first berries will be less elongated compared to the second harvest wave. On the next harvest, the strawberry weight decreases to about 25 grams.
A cherry hue indicates that the berries are overripe. The surface is covered with yellow seeds. The taste is rich, sweet, with a pleasant sourness. It is complemented by the delicate aroma of meadow strawberries.
Growing features
The garden strawberry variety easily tolerates both frost and dry weather. Planting work can be carried out almost all year round: in autumn, spring or winter. Choose open and spacious areas that are carefully lit by the sun's rays. Bushes form a lot of mustache, so they are removed periodically. Shoots with rosettes are left only on those plants that they plan to use to increase the plantation.
A rich harvest can be obtained even when growing bushes in greenhouses. It is not difficult to take care of the fruit crop, the main thing is to follow all the rules of agricultural technology. If the site has previously grown tomatoes or potatoes, this location is not suitable for growing strawberries. The best precursors are onions, legumes, garlic, parsley, or dill. Wild strawberries are not whimsical to the composition of the soil.
Standard landing pattern:
- with a tape arrangement, a distance of 30 centimeters is left between the plants;
- the second option is 6 seedlings per square meter.
The long roots of the seedlings are pruned a little. After planting, the soil is compacted. Young plants are watered with water with ammonium nitrate (in a ratio of 20 grams of product per bucket of water).
The plantation can be irrigated using either a drip system or by sprinkling. Due to their innate drought tolerance, strawberries will survive hot and long summers. The regularity of watering greatly affects the quality of the crop. Lack of moisture leads to the fact that the berries become dry and shrink in size.
Loosening the top layer of the earth and removing weeds is another rule of agricultural technology. To do the work as little as possible, the area is covered with a layer of mulch. Use hay, sawdust or peat. Most seasoned gardeners grow their garden strawberries on a black spunbond. This is a special canvas that protects the berries from contact with the soil and prevents weeds from growing.
In order for the crop to be rich and stable, the bushes must be regularly freed from dry leaves and diseased shoots.
Site selection and soil preparation
A garden culture will take root remarkably well on any soil, but it feels best in fertile, moist and loose soil. The Divnaya variety loves slightly acidic soil. The location chosen for growing berries must be protected from drafts and strong, cold winds. If groundwater is present, it should be deep underground. To stimulate growth, the roots of seedlings are soaked in a special solution.
Pollination
The plant is pollinated on its own thanks to the bisexual flowers.
Top dressing
Any fruit crop loves fertilizers. For a tasty and healthy harvest, you need to make them regularly.
The plantations are fed according to the following scheme:
- nitrogen compositions are used in early spring;
- during flowering and ovary of berries, complex fertilizers with minerals are used - they should contain magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and iron;
- in the fall, leaf compost and humus are laid between the plants.
One of the important techniques in strawberry care is feeding. Regular fertilization guarantees a rich harvest. There are several different ways to feed strawberries, and each of them is designed for a specific period of plant development. During flowering, fruiting and after it, feeding should be different.
Frost resistance and the need for shelter
Despite their resistance to frost, in the northern regions, strawberries need to be covered with the arrival of winter.Agrofibre is best; you can also arrange a film tunnel. Some gardeners cover the bushes with a thick layer of humus and straw. In regions with warm winters, for example, in the southern regions, strawberries can hibernate without additional shelter.
Diseases and pests
Garden strawberry Divnaya has immunity to most diseases, but during the period of heavy precipitation, it decreases. With frequent rains, the bushes are treated with Fitosporin solution. If the lesion is massive, the entire green mass of diseased plants is mowed, leaves and branches must be burned.
To scare off pests from a sweet and aromatic harvest, marigolds, garlic, onions and dill are planted next to the berries.
Strawberries are often subject to many dangerous diseases that can seriously undermine their condition. Among the most common are powdery mildew, gray mold, brown spot, anthracnose, and verticillosis. Before buying a variety, you need to inquire about its disease resistance.
Reproduction
The most common way to grow a berry plantation is to breed with a mustache. For this purpose, the most productive bushes are chosen. They must also be healthy and strong. The best planting material can be obtained from the first and second order outlets. All other whiskers are removed so that the plant does not waste energy on them.
