Many cities in our time are built up with high-rise buildings. This applies primarily to housing construction. The urban population is increasing from year to year, and there are not always opportunities and means to expand the territory. So settlements are growing not so much in breadth as upward. And for multi-storey buildings, building material of appropriate quality is needed. Since the most popular among home buyers are brick new buildings, which are distinguished by their environmental friendliness and heat-saving features, construction companies are trying to build housing from bricks. For such houses, brick of the M200 brand is best suited. Let's consider why this statement is true.

Peculiarities

The brick grade has a strength index of M200, which means that it can withstand a load of 200 kg for each square centimeter of its area. Therefore, we can confidently call such a building material the most reliable for the construction of residential and other buildings over the standard 9 floors. Thanks to its increased strength, this brick has truly versatile building features. It is applicable for masonry of load-bearing walls and other load-bearing structures, lower floors of high-rise buildings, basements, as well as foundations, including in conditions of high humidity and temperature changes.

Grade 200 is characterized by high frost resistance. The frost resistance index, denoted by the letter F, has an indicator from 50 to 100. This means how many cycles of freezing and defrosting a brand of bricks withstands without any changes in basic properties. Sometimes this indicator is taken for the longevity of the brickwork.

If the house is lined with bricks with the F100 index, then the building can stand for at least 100 years without any major changes.

Depending on the purpose, the following types of the M200 brand are distinguished:

  • facing, used for various purposes of facing and finishing;
  • private, used for laying walls, foundations and other construction objects;
  • stove, which has heat resistance and is necessary for the construction of furnaces, chimneys and pipes.

The grade 200 differs and the composition used for the manufacture of bricks.

  • Silicate. The brick is white. It is made from a mixture of quartz sand, water and lime, which is exposed to high pressure steam before being petrified.
  • Ceramic. It is made by firing clay with various technological additives in autoclaves at temperatures up to 1,000 degrees. The color of such products is red with different shades (depending on the composition of clay impurities).

In terms of size, according to GOST, brick M200 is divided into the following types:

  • single with dimensions (length / width / thickness) equal to 250/120/65 mm;
  • one and a half - 250/120/88 mm;
  • double - 250/120/138 mm.

Density of building material

    It should be noted that only a single brick is solid. One and a half and double similarities are produced only in the form of slotted products. No matter how different the varieties of the M200 brick brand differ from each other, they are united by the presence of two undoubted properties:

    • high strength;
    • absolutely environmentally friendly composition - sand, clay, lime, impurity minerals and water.

    Where is it applied?

    Ordinary solid ceramic brick has high sound insulation and water resistance, therefore it has advantages over other types of the M200 brand. Solid sand-lime brick, unfortunately, has a too high moisture absorption rate.With all other equal advantages, it cannot be used in the construction of foundations and basements. For these purposes, its ceramic counterpart is best suited. At the same time, due to the lower cost, solid silicate building material can be perfectly used for the construction of load-bearing structures and lower floors of high-rise buildings, having high strength and sound insulation.

    One-and-a-half and double types of bricks of grade 200, due to their air voids, have a low thermal conductivity, so they are used, given their strength and frost resistance, for the construction of both external and internal walls of buildings. In addition, hollow material is often used for facade cladding. One-and-a-half and double building material is also beneficial in that it requires less mortar consumption and less time for laying, which is an important factor in the modern construction industry.

    Even fireplaces can be laid out of solid ceramic bricks. It conducts heat well and gives it to a heated room. However, it cannot be used to lay out directly furnace and fireplace chambers, since when interacting with fire, the material will quickly collapse.

    For furnaces, you need to use only oven bricks (fireclay), specially processed for such conditions.

    As you can see, the M200 brick grade is in great demand and is used in the construction of various structures, including foundations, basements, lower and high floors, for facing facades, internal fillings of building structures, as well as for laying stoves and fireplaces. When choosing a material, it is very important to demand from the seller a certificate of the quality of the goods, as well as to make sure by external examination that the brick conforms to the declared type. You can break one copy to check its strength and the quality of red brick firing (there should be no internal blackness). Try to break the material - cracks on the surface are allowed, but the ease of breaking the brick proves its marriage.
