The unusual name Paroli has a new potato variety from the famous German company Norika. Despite its "youth", potatoes have already become famous for their unprecedented yield and early maturity. The crop ripens in the shortest possible time, and under a certain set of circumstances, two crops can be removed.

Breeding history

The well-known seed growing and breeding company Norika was founded in 1990 in Germany, in the town of Gross-Lüsewitz on the basis of the breeding department of the Potato Research Institute. By that time, half a century of experience in breeding potato crops had already been accumulated here. In these experimental fields, a wonderful variety Paroli (synonym for the name - Paroli) was bred, the author of which was a scientist and employee of Norica, Wolfgang Walter.

The crop, which was originally developed to supply the European market with early table potatoes, has performed fairly well in field trials in Europe. They made it possible for originators in 2015 to apply for admission to growing in the Russian Federation. Russian testing lasted 4 years, and in 2019 the variety was included in the State Register, according to which it was recommended for cultivation on farms in the Central Region.

Description of the variety

Passwords are a very early potato variety. Marketability has rather high rates - 83-97%, as well as keeping quality - 95%. The table variety is quite high-yielding. A distinctive feature of tubers is that they can be used for further processing even after long storage.

Characteristics of the appearance of the bush and root crops

The Paroli bush is tall, spreading, and has a stem type. Green leaves can be very large, intermediate structure. The anthocyanin coloration inside the large corolla is either completely absent or rather weak. Potato tubers of a beautiful oval shape. An interesting yellow root crop, and its flesh is also yellow. The weight of one potato varies between 100-146 grams. Root crops contain from 11.4 to 13.7% starch.

Purpose and taste of tubers

The taste of German potatoes is noted as good. The product belongs to culinary type B. The tubers are poorly boiled, therefore, after cooking, the vegetable keeps its shape. Potatoes Passwords are used in any recipes. At the same time, resistance to darkening of potato pulp is noted.

Maturation

Paroli is a very early potato variety. Young potatoes can be tried 35-45 days after planting. The crop will fully ripen on day 50.

Yield

The European variety is classified as a high-yielding variety. On average, from 175 to 403 centners are harvested from 1 hectare, depending on the region. The maximum yield was recorded at 467 c / ha.

Growing regions

The variety Paroli was included in the Russian register for the Central Region. However, with the necessary care, it can be grown in other areas with a temperate climate.

Growing and care

A procedure such as germinating Paroli potato seeds before planting has a positive effect on the early emergence of high quality fresh potatoes. Can grow 2 crops per season.

The originators recommend growing the variety from the Norika company both on sandy loam and black earth soils. The ridges must be dug up in the fall in order to enrich them with organic matter in advance. Seed potatoes are germinated in a warm and well-lit area. Immediately before planting, the tubers are sprayed with a growth stimulant. Passwords are planted according to the scheme 35x70 centimeters.

Watering the beds of the potatoes in question during dry periods is necessary with warm water. It is recommended to water the bushes well at the beginning of flowering, since the amount of moisture will determine the size of the root crop.

Paroli potatoes are fed 2-3 times per season. In the process of growing tops, nitrogen fertilizers must be applied, organic fertilizers can also be applied. During the flowering period, solutions of superphosphate and potassium sulfate are used for feeding. It is necessary to spud the bushes of this culture 2 times during the season.

Planting potatoes is one of the main spring activities traditional for Russian gardeners. There are many ways to plant this vegetable, allowing you to get a good harvest in different conditions and climates. Before planting, you need to carefully prepare the planting material, correctly determine the timing, competently prepare the soil.

Potatoes, like other vegetable crops, need soil moisture. It is important to water the potatoes in a timely manner and in the right amount, then a good harvest will be guaranteed. The frequency of watering and their rate depend on the weather conditions and the characteristics of the climate of the region.
Hilling is one of the procedures that can significantly increase the yield of potatoes and protect them from weeds. When hilling, the growth of both aboveground and underground parts of plants is stimulated. This, in turn, stimulates the establishment of new roots and the formation of tubers.
It is not always possible to plant potatoes on full-fledged fertile soils, so regular feeding will help improve the situation. When growing potatoes, you can use organic, mineral and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

German scientists-breeders under the leadership of Wolfgang Walter endowed the variety with good immunity. The variety resists such ailments as the causative agent of potato cancer, golden cyst nematode, still wrinkled mosaic, twisting of foliage.

Potatoes are a popular vegetable crop that many gardeners planted on their site. But growing a bountiful harvest of tasty and large tubers is unlikely to succeed if the beds are not properly protected from the most common diseases and pests. Often, the development of diseases of various etiologies of potatoes goes unnoticed, so it is important to identify the problem in time and eliminate it.

Harvesting potatoes is just as important as growing them. If you dig too early, the tubers will not have time to grow and ripen, and will be poorly stored. If tightened with harvesting, potatoes can suffer from diseases or bad weather.
It is important not only to grow a good potato crop, but also to preserve it correctly. When creating optimal storage conditions, tubers can lie without spoiling for 9-10 months. Therefore, after harvesting, you need to prepare the potatoes for storage and place them in a suitable place.
