Lady Claire's potatoes are very popular among summer residents and owners of large-scale fields. The excellent characteristics of the variety make it suitable for both sale and personal use. At the same time, the culture is unpretentious and gives a rich harvest.

Description of the variety

This hybrid was bred by employees of the Dutch company C. Meiler B. V. The variety thrives in the Russian climate and is successfully grown in the middle lane. Despite the early ripening period, the culture pleases with excellent commercial quality and pleasant taste, and therefore it is included in the category of canteens and is widely used for various culinary purposes.

Characteristics of the appearance of the bush and root crops

Lady Claire grows up to 50 cm. Semi-erect, powerful stems are covered with bright green leaves, which vary in size from medium to large. The shape is elongated with wavy edges, the surface is slightly wrinkled. The flowers are snow-white, miniature. As for the fruits, they have a regular oval shape, they have a smooth or slightly rough skin. The beautiful amber-yellow hue of the peel also increases the marketability of the crop. Small eyes appear in insignificant quantities and do not spoil the appearance of the potato at all.

Purpose and taste of tubers

The fruits are suitable for manual and technical cleaning, can be used in the production of starch, chips and other dry potato products. They are also ideal for cooking, frying and stewing. Dense, non-watery tubers practically do not boil over, retain an optimal consistency. Taste is rated at 4 on a five-point scale, which is considered a very good indicator.

Maturation

From germination to harvest, it usually takes only 65-75 days. This allows you to enjoy fresh potato dishes already in the middle of summer. It should be noted that this variety is considered one of the best in the early maturing category.

Yield

On average, 140-167 centners of this type of potato can be harvested from one hectare. The maximum recorded indicator is 267 c / ha. Gardeners who grow crops for their own needs can focus on other numbers: up to 15 fruits are formed on one bush. In this case, the mass of one potato is 82-107 g. Tubers are resistant to damage. The keeping quality of the crop reaches 94%. Thanks to this, it can be transported over long distances.

Growing regions

Potatoes of this variety are grown in the Central region, in the North Caucasus, as well as in the Central Black Earth Region. Usually, planting is carried out in open ground. In cooler places, cultivation in greenhouses is acceptable.

Growing and caring

Agricultural technology in this case is standard. Sowing is carried out in May according to the scheme 35x60 cm. The depth of the tubers is about 10 cm. Particular attention should be paid to the optimal watering, since the variety does not tolerate waterlogging well. It is resistant to drought, but it is still better to maintain a reasonable balance by producing timely irrigation. And also it is necessary to regularly loosen the soil, apply fertilizers and remove weeds.

Planting potatoes is one of the main spring activities traditional for Russian gardeners. There are many ways to plant this vegetable, allowing you to get a good harvest in different conditions and climates. Before planting, you need to carefully prepare the planting material, correctly determine the timing, competently prepare the soil.

Potatoes, like other vegetable crops, need soil moisture. It is important to water the potatoes in a timely manner and in the right amount, then a good harvest will be guaranteed. The frequency of watering and their rate depend on the weather conditions and the characteristics of the climate of the region.
Hilling is one of the procedures that can significantly increase the yield of potatoes and protect them from weeds. When hilling, the growth of both aboveground and underground parts of plants is stimulated. This, in turn, stimulates the establishment of new roots and the formation of tubers.

Soil requirements

Lady Claire is not a very whimsical culture. However, judging by the reviews, the best yield indicators are obtained on loose, fertile soils.

It is not always possible to plant potatoes on full-fledged fertile soils, so regular feeding will help improve the situation. When growing potatoes, you can use organic, mineral and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is resistant to cancer, golden nematode, scab. It also carries some viruses relatively easily. Threats to the culture are late blight of leaves and tubers, alternaria.

In general, a variety of potatoes with a beautiful name is considered to be quite strong, with good immunity. If we add to this the simplicity of growing, high yield and excellent presentation, then we can safely say that the variety deserves the close attention of gardeners and small business owners in the field of vegetable growing.

Potatoes are a popular vegetable crop that many gardeners planted on their site. But growing a bountiful harvest of tasty and large tubers is unlikely to succeed if the beds are not properly protected from the most common diseases and pests. Often, the development of diseases of various etiologies of potatoes goes unnoticed, so it is important to identify the problem in time and eliminate it.

Harvesting potatoes is just as important as growing them. If you dig too early, the tubers will not have time to grow and ripen, and will be poorly stored. If the harvesting is delayed, the potatoes can suffer from diseases or bad weather.
It is important not only to grow a good potato crop, but also to preserve it correctly. When creating optimal storage conditions, tubers can lie without spoiling for 9-10 months. Therefore, after harvesting, you need to prepare the potatoes for storage and place them in a suitable place.
