Golden hectare 1432 is a classic cabbage variety. It was included in the State Register of Varieties in 1943.
Description of the variety
The golden hectare of 1432 is an early ripe, fruitful cabbage. Among others, the variety stands out for its unpretentiousness, a compact, beautiful rosette, productivity and early amicable return of the heads of cabbage. The peculiarity is that the pulp is dense enough for early cabbage, thanks to which you can get an early vegetable to the table and keep the most dense heads of cabbage for the winter.
Characteristics of the appearance of the plant and heads of cabbage
The socket is assembled, medium-sized, moderately raised. The leaves are at an angle of 45 degrees to the ground, the petioles do not stretch. The leaves are small, but look large. They are gray-green in color, with a light waxy coating and a pronounced network of veins, smooth. There are small waves along the edge.
Heads of cabbage are round, small or medium, weighing 1.6-3.3 kg, but more often the weight of fruits varies within 1.5-2.5 kg. The density of the heads of cabbage is average. The pulp is white. The stump inside is either medium or short. Officially, keeping quality is up to 1 month, but in practice this period may be longer.
Purpose and taste
The taste is good. Cabbage is mainly consumed fresh, used for first and second courses, salads, fillings. It is also suitable for pickling and pickling. Used in folk medicine, to relieve edema, make cabbage juice.
Ripening terms
The variety is medium early, the heads of cabbage are picked 102-110 days after the emergence of mass shoots. Harvested in July-August.
Yield
The yield is excellent, on average 500-850 centners of marketable fruits are obtained from 1 hectare. From 1 sq. m remove 5-8 kg, or 3-4 heads of cabbage. The percentage of marketable products is high - 90-99%.
Growing regions
Cabbage is officially recommended for cultivation in all regions of the Russian Federation, except for the southernmost ones. In other regions, including the North-West, Eastern and Western Siberia, the Far East, the variety feels good and shows excellent results.
Growing and care
The most important step is growing seedlings. During this period, the plants are still quite gentle, and they perceive the shortcomings of care more sensitively. In the future, the Golden Hectare cabbage is completely unpretentious and forgives even serious shortcomings.
The seeds are pickled, kept in Epin's solution, and sown in early March, preferably in separate containers. If there is a greenhouse, sowing can be done in April. The soil for planting must be shed with potassium permanganate or "Fitosporin". The best soil mixture is made from equal parts of sod land and humus.
Immediately after sowing the seeds, the soil is thoroughly watered, covered with foil, periodically ventilated. As soon as the sprouts appear, it is highly advisable to place the seedlings in a cool place. Temperatures above + 20 ° C lead to overgrowth of seedlings. Saplings stretch out, become weak, fragile and get sick more often.
Plants are transplanted into open ground in early or mid-May. The Golden Hectare cabbage tolerates short-term frosts well.
The variety is resistant to cracking and temperature changes, however, like any cabbage, it prefers even moisture. Watering varies depending on the weather. In dry periods, water at least 2 times a week.
They are fed at will. Usually 2-3 additional feeding is made with a diluted mullein. Cabbage does not require mandatory feeding, but responds well to them.
To grow a rich cabbage crop, you need to know when and how to plant this crop outdoors. Planting dates are determined depending on the variety. It is also necessary to properly prepare the soil and follow the rules of crop rotation.
Soil requirements
The best soil for cabbage is loose, nutritious and neutral. It is better to exclude acidic areas right away - on such crops it is often sick with keel, it absorbs nutrients from the soil worse. Or acidic soils are dug up with chalk, slaked lime, dolomite flour or ash. Dolomite flour is best for cabbage, it contains a lot of calcium, which is responsible for the taste and structure of the heads.
The nutritional value of the soil is increased by adding rotted manure or compost per 1 square meter during autumn digging. m. It is useful to fertilize the soil and ash: in the fall add to each square. m 1 glass of sifted wood ash. Urea should be applied only to very poor soils in spring, cabbage tends to accumulate nitrates, so it is better not to get carried away with nitrogen fertilizers.
For planting, a site is selected where other cruciferous plants (radishes, mustard, watercress, radishes, turnips) have not grown in the past 2-3 years. The best predecessors: potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, beans, onions.
Cabbage requires particularly careful care when growing. The plant quickly absorbs nutrients, so the soil needs to be enriched regularly. Adequate amounts of minerals, organics and nitrogen must be provided. Some products can be purchased at the store, while others are easy to make at home.
Disease and pest resistance
The variety is unpretentious and not prone to disease. It has good immunity, due to early recoil, it does not have time to suffer from pests. In a small vegetable garden, the Golden Hectare cabbage almost does not get sick. For prevention, they follow agricultural techniques, avoid flooding with water in a cool and damp summer. To prevent damage to plants by powdery mildew, the soil is spilled with a solution of "Fitosporin", seedlings are sprayed with Bordeaux liquid 1% before planting in the ground.
Cabbage is a very popular horticultural crop. But growing a good, large and tasty cabbage is sometimes very difficult, because it is often affected by a huge number of diseases and pests. The main role in the cultivation of this vegetable is played by regular prevention, which helps to get a rich harvest, and prevent the occurrence of diseases and the invasion of harmful insects. It is very important to start treatment as early as possible, otherwise there is a risk of spreading the infection to still unaffected plants.
Review overview
Reviews are conflicting. Some gardeners have found the variety very convenient.Seedlings grow quickly, do not get sick, take root well. Heads of cabbage are strong, small, convenient to process and store. Despite the fact that the cabbage is early and should not be well stored, gardeners speak of its good keeping quality. Heads of cabbage are great in the refrigerator, on the balcony or loggia.
Other gardeners also noted disadvantages. The variety tends to outgrow quickly. If the crop is not harvested in time, the heads of cabbage will begin to crack. The taste is sour, and the head of cabbage itself is not tender enough. At the same time, even critics noted the advantages: the cabbage is so early that the caterpillars of the white woman do not have time to damage it, you can get heads of cabbage for salads in July, it lies relatively well and looks great in sauerkraut - and not every early-ripening variety is capable of this.
