The dot is a variety of white cabbage, which was bred by Siberian breeders and approved for use since 1992. For 30 years, this variety has been well studied and has already won an army of fans. Let's get acquainted in more detail with the features of Tochka cabbage.
Description of the variety
This variety is intended for outdoor cultivation, and one of its advantages is its high yield. In addition, the Point has a high immunity to diseases, there are no coarse veins in it. However, it is worth noting several disadvantages: poor insect protection and the presence of an external stump of medium length (up to 12 cm), which complicates the process of agricultural technology.
Characteristics of the appearance of the plant and heads of cabbage
This cabbage has a semi-raised rosette and medium sized leaves. Leaves are green, smooth, round in shape, slightly wavy edges. The head of cabbage is formed in the form of a cone, its weight is 0.7-1.7 kg, it is small in size, it is painted in a light green color on the outside, and has a yellowish color inside.
Purpose and taste
The texture of the cabbage leaves is juicy, the taste is good and sweet. The point can be used both for fresh consumption and for canning. It is also suitable for stewing or making soups.
Ripening terms
This is an early maturing variety. From the moment of emergence to harvest, it takes about 98-120 days. Usually, cleaning takes place from 1 to 20 July. Heads of cabbage ripen at the same time.
Yield
The Tochka variety has a high yield, on average it brings 164-809 centners per hectare of cabbage.
Growing and care
The optimal sowing time for seedlings is the second half of March or early April. Planting in open ground is carried out at the end of April. Seedlings are planted according to the scheme 60x40 cm.This variety will feel comfortable in low-lying peat-boggy soils, but in general it can develop in any soils. It is important that the garden is well lit by the sun.
This variety requires regular watering. The plant is abundantly moisturized in the first days after planting, as well as at the beginning of the fruit ovary. On average, watering is carried out a couple of times a week, a whole bucket of water is used for each square meter. For irrigation, settled warm water is used, and the procedure itself is carried out in the evening so that the sun does not leave burns on the leaves. In order for moisture to freely penetrate to the roots, the topsoil must be loosened 8-10 cm after moistening. At the same time, during this manipulation, weeds can be removed.
The Tochka variety needs feeding twice a season. The first fertilizer is applied 2-2.5 weeks after planting. Nitrogen-containing mixtures, for example, liquid mullein, are suitable as additional food. Ammonium nitrate is also suitable, but it is important to apply it strictly to the root so that the agent does not fall on the leaves, otherwise it will provoke a burn.
The second top dressing is applied 10-15 days after the first, and now chicken droppings, nitrophoska, mullein or a mixture of compost and wood ash will become appropriate. Some gardeners use exclusively mineral formulations for fertilizing.
To grow a rich cabbage crop, you need to know when and how to plant this crop outdoors. Planting dates are determined depending on the variety. It is also necessary to properly prepare the soil and follow the rules of crop rotation.
Cabbage requires particularly careful care when growing. The plant quickly absorbs nutrients, so the soil needs to be enriched regularly. Adequate amounts of minerals, organics and nitrogen must be provided. Some products can be purchased at the store, while others are easy to make at home.
Disease and pest resistance
The Tochka variety is almost not affected by diseases, it is not prone to cracking the heads of cabbage, but the plant is not insured against insects. So, the culture is often attacked by the cruciferous flea. It can be overcome by means of "Karbofos" or by treating the plant with wood ash. Also, this variety can become a victim of aphids, from which "Karbofos" or an infusion made on the basis of tobacco will again help. Another enemy of the Point is the cabbage fly, and this pest will be frightened by the talkers made of clay, with which the roots were treated before planting, and Chlorophos proved its effectiveness from chemical agents.
Cabbage is a very popular horticultural crop. But growing a good, large and tasty cabbage is sometimes very difficult, because it is often affected by a huge number of diseases and pests. The main role in the cultivation of this vegetable is played by regular prevention, which helps to get a rich harvest, and prevent the occurrence of diseases and the invasion of harmful insects. It is very important to start treatment as early as possible, otherwise there is a risk of spreading the infection to unaffected plants.
