Ramko cabbage is a hybrid. This very hardy and resistant to infections culture appeared in the Netherlands for a long time, and has already managed to fall in love with domestic gardeners. They are especially attracted by the resistance of the vegetable to sudden changes in temperature and sudden cold snaps.
Breeding history
Cabbage hybrid Ramko (synonym - Ramko) is a prominent representative of the Dutch selection. The culture was obtained by specialists of the world-famous agricultural company Seeds B. V. in the late 90s. The cultivar was entered in the Russian register in 1999 and zoned for the Central region of the Russian Federation.
Description of the variety
Ramko cabbage is resistant to head cracking. However, the value of the Dutch hybrid lies not only in this. The culture is distinguished by high yield, good commercial quality of products, including the ideal shape of the forks, excellent taste characteristics.
Characteristics of the appearance of the plant and heads of cabbage
The Dutch plant is of medium height. The outer stump of Ramko cabbage is medium in size, the inner one is short. The leaves are green, also medium in size, slightly bubbly, a waxy coating is observed.
The head of white cabbage of the described hybrid is round in shape, medium density. The weight of each head of cabbage varies within 2.7-3.4 kg, sometimes it can reach 6 kg.
Purpose and taste
Many people note the good taste of the hybrid. Moreover, the composition of the product contains:
- dry matter - 7.3%;
- total sugar - 4.1%.
Dutch white cabbage Ramco is good when eaten fresh, and it is also suitable for conservation and for all other types of processing.
Ripening terms
A late-ripening hybrid variety ripens in a period of 150-160 days. In the middle of the first autumn month, you can plan your harvest.
Yield
Ramko cabbage has a fairly high yield. Average rates vary between 389-606 c / ha.
Growing regions
At first, Ramko cabbage was zoned in the Central Region, but over time, the geography of its cultivation has expanded significantly. The described hybrid variety of cabbage has long been successfully grown almost throughout the country. It can be found in various farms in the Central, Northern, North-Western and Volga-Vyatka regions, in Western and Eastern Siberia, in the Urals.
Growing and care
In order to grow a Dutch cabbage hybrid, you can use the seedling method. So, the material is sown for seedlings already at the beginning of April. In this case, it is better to sow seeds in peat tablets, since this option does not imply a subsequent pick. But many gardeners also use boxes and various containers, as well as any cups and pots.
The ideal temperature for successful germination of seedlings is 20 degrees Celsius; they must be kept under the film for a week.Seedlings must be watered regularly, while avoiding waterlogging, and also fed with nitrogen fertilizers.
Transplanting directly to the beds can be carried out after the second May decade. The bushes are placed according to the 60x60 cm scheme, the maximum planting density is 4 bushes per square meter of the plot.
Next, it is necessary to carry out the usual care measures familiar to every gardener: systematic irrigation, loosening, feeding, prevention of diseases and attacks of insect pests. For the first time, fertilizer is applied 14-16 days after transplanting seedlings into open ground. Subsequent feeding is carried out when the heads of cabbage ripen, they include phosphorus-potassium, as well as complex mixtures.
To grow a rich cabbage crop, you need to know when and how to plant this crop outdoors. Planting dates are determined depending on the variety. It is also necessary to properly prepare the soil and follow the rules of crop rotation.
Cabbage requires particularly careful care when growing. The plant quickly absorbs nutrients, so the soil needs to be enriched regularly. Adequate amounts of minerals, organics and nitrogen must be provided. Some products can be purchased at the store, while others are easy to make at home.
Cabbage is a very popular horticultural crop. But growing a good, large and tasty cabbage is sometimes very difficult, because it is often affected by a huge number of diseases and pests. The main role in the cultivation of this vegetable is played by regular prevention, which helps to get a rich harvest, and prevent the occurrence of diseases and the invasion of harmful insects. It is very important to start treatment as early as possible, otherwise there is a risk of spreading the infection to still unaffected plants.
