Parel cabbage is a good option to compensate for the lack of vitamins in the fall at the expense of your own labors on the site. It develops well in the open field when the proper conditions are provided for it.

Breeding history

In 1993, domestic plant breeders were given the opportunity to grow cabbage of this variety on their plots. The Dutch organization, which has a good reputation, was engaged in removing Parel. This variety has become a white hybrid for outdoor use.

Description of the variety

Parel has a good density of heads, and this variety is not at all susceptible to cracking. Listing the advantages of this variety of cabbage, it is imperative to say about a stable yield in our country and a large geography. Even if the heads of cabbage are ripe, they do not require immediate harvesting, this procedure can be postponed for half a month, and the Parel cabbage will not lose its presentation.

Parel has one positive feature - the conveyor cultivation of cabbage, while the seeds should be planted with an interval of two weeks.

Parel has a small stump, the rest is characterized by high density. Even transportation over long distances does not affect the appearance of the vegetable, and during long-term storage, the beneficial qualities of cabbage are preserved.

Parela has a genetically good immunity to various diseases. The hybrid perfectly withstands adverse weather conditions and does not suffer from short-term frosts.

This variety also has disadvantages: for example, it is unsuitable for preparing a fermented product. Heads of cabbage can grow small, and the yield depends on the quality of plant care. Parel will not be stored in the basement during the winter.

Like any hybrid, Parel cabbage does not produce seeds, so you will have to spend every year to breed it.

Characteristics of the appearance of the plant and heads of cabbage

The leaf rosette of the described variety is located horizontally, it is compact. The foliage is small, the surface is covered with fine wrinkles. The leaves are light green in color, rounded in shape, with smooth edges.

Heads weight from 700 g to 1.5 kg. They are round, light green in color, and white inside.

Purpose and taste

Parel is only suitable for fresh consumption. The cabbage of this variety tastes sweet and not tough.

Ripening terms

This variety is early maturing. Heads of cabbage reach technical ripeness in a period of 92 to 116 days. From July to August, it is time to harvest.

Yield

The yield of this variety can be characterized as average, if grown in the fields on an industrial scale, then it is an average of 156-461 centners / ha.

Growing and care

Seeds of Parela are required to be sown for seedlings in early March. By the end of April, young plants can be planted under a film. The scheme of planting bushes is 50x30 cm. A sunny site must be chosen for placement.

It is necessary to prepare the soil for future planting in the fall. The area where Parel will grow is first dug up and fertilized. Usually it is rotted compost or manure. At the same time, small hills can be formed.

The beds are covered with a layer of mulch and covered with dark agrofilm. When spring comes, it is removed, and sowing is carried out in separate holes. On one square meter, from 4 to 5 seeds are allowed. When shoots appear, you will need to regularly loosen the soil, clean it of weeds.

Parela's seedlings can also be grown in greenhouses. Before planting, the soil is first treated to remove insects and harmful microorganisms. A solution of potassium permanganate is ideal for this.

Before planting seeds, the soil is well moistened, since without high humidity, seed material does not germinate well. A day later, additional irrigation of the plantings is carried out with a weak solution of manganese, which is necessarily diluted in warm and settled water.

When the seedlings reach an age of 10-15 days, you need to start picking it. After the completion of the procedure, the first feeding of Parela is applied. For this, ash can be used. It is also applied after, twice during the entire growing season of plants.

When growing Parela seedlings in greenhouses, it is very important to monitor the length of daylight hours and, if necessary, install artificial lighting. This is especially important if the trunk has acquired a purple hue.

A week before it is supposed to plant Parela's seedlings in open ground, it is necessary to harden it. It is enough to open a greenhouse for a day. Young plants can be transferred when they reach the age of 3-4 weeks, by which time they should have already formed 3-4 leaves.

On the open ground, caring for Parel does not stop, it consists in timely watering, applying additional fertilizing, loosening the soil and removing weeds. For top dressing, it is best to use nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizers, since they guarantee stable growth.

Young plants are often watered, several times a day, but at the same time they monitor the moisture content of the soil. Then the number of watering is reduced, but it is required to moisten the soil at least 2 times in seven days.

To grow a rich cabbage crop, you need to know when and how to plant this crop outdoors. Planting dates are determined depending on the variety. It is also necessary to properly prepare the soil and follow the rules of crop rotation.

Proper watering is a prerequisite for agricultural technology when growing cabbage. This vegetable crop prefers regular watering, the frequency of which depends on weather conditions, soil composition, cabbage variety and other characteristics.
Cabbage, like many other vegetables, needs regular hilling. This procedure performs several functions at once: it makes the plants stronger, protects the crop from diseases and pests, retains moisture in the soil, and increases the yield of the crop.

Soil requirements

The soil for Parel should be loose, light and well fertilized.

Cabbage requires particularly careful care when growing. The plant quickly absorbs nutrients, so the soil needs to be enriched regularly. Adequate amounts of minerals, organics and nitrogen must be provided. Some products can be purchased at the store, while others are easy to make at home.

Cabbage is a very popular horticultural crop. But growing a good, large and tasty cabbage is sometimes very difficult, because it is often affected by a huge number of diseases and pests. The main role in the cultivation of this vegetable is played by regular prevention, which helps to get a rich harvest, and prevent the occurrence of diseases and the invasion of harmful insects. It is very important to start treatment as early as possible, otherwise there is a risk of spreading the infection to still unaffected plants.

Observance of simple conditions will help to save cabbage until the new harvest: the choice of a suitable variety, the correct preparation of the vegetable, maintaining the optimum temperature and humidity in the room.
