White cabbage Favorit belongs to the category of hybrids well adapted to difficult climatic conditions. Breeding history

The hybrid was obtained by a group of specialists of OOO "NN Timofeev Breeding Station" of the State Enterprise "Rossortsemovosch". The application for admission was filed in 1998, cabbage Favorit was entered into the State Register in 2001.

Description of the variety

The hybrid is aimed at growing in open ground, as well as in greenhouses in cold climatic zones. The harvested crop is stored for up to 5 months. Heads of cabbage tolerate transportation well without losing marketability. The surface of the outer leaves has a mild waxy bloom.

Bushes are compact, but densely leafy, strong enough, with a thick base. The hybrid is characterized by uniform ripening. It grows intensively in favorable conditions, does not require complex care. A fairly early harvest excludes freezing of heads of cabbage in the beds in regions with cold summers.

Characteristics of the appearance of the plant and heads of cabbage

The hybrid is characterized by the presence of a horizontal rosette of leaves with a diameter of 70-80 cm. The outer and inner stumps are medium in size. The leaves are large, with a concave surface, light green in color. The shape of the plates is transversely wide-elliptical.

Favorite's heads of cabbage are large, weighing 1.8-3 kg. The shape of the fork is flat-round, with yellow-green outer leaves and whitish inside. The head of cabbage is very dense and elastic.

Purpose and taste

Cabbage is mainly intended for pickling and canning, suitable for fresh consumption. The taste of the hybrid is assessed as good and excellent, the sugar content in the heads of cabbage reaches 5%. There is no bitterness.

Ripening terms

The favorite is a mid-late hybrid with amicable ripening. The crop is harvested in July-August, 150 days after germination, at the stage of technical ripeness.

Yield

The favorite is the high-yielding cabbage. Average collection rates are 392-632 kg / ha.

Growing regions

Favorit cabbage is recommended for cultivation in most climatic zones, from Siberia and the Urals to the North Caucasus. It is successfully cultivated in the Central Black Earth Region, in the Middle and Lower Volga, in the northwest.

Growing and care

Plants are recommended to be placed in sunny, well-lit areas. The main care consists in abundant and timely watering, application of mineral and organic fertilizers to the soil. The cultivation is carried out mainly in seedlings, with the sowing of seeds in April. The grown cabbage is transferred to a permanent place in the beds closer to the beginning of June. The optimal landing pattern is considered to be with a distance of 40 × 70 cm.

Soil moisture is essential for this cabbage hybrid.Watering is carried out regularly, with an interval of 4-7 days, in the evening or morning hours, so that burns do not appear on the leaves. About 20 liters of water are spent on 1 m2. After adding moisture, the soil is loosened so that a hard crust does not form on it.

Top dressing is performed according to the schedule, giving them for the first time 3 weeks after planting in open ground. At this stage, Favorit cabbage reacts well to complex fertilizers containing potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen. As soon as the heads of cabbage begin to form, a second feeding is carried out with vegetable green infusions or slurry.
