Cauliflower Movir 74 is a vegetable crop with a long history, bred by breeders in 1965 at the Federal Research Center of Horticulture. The vegetable was added to the State Register of approved for use in 1969. You can grow cabbage on garden beds, in greenhouses, and under film shelters. Due to its high adaptability to climatic characteristics, Movir 74 cauliflower can be productively cultivated in different regions of the Russian Federation.

Description of the variety

Cauliflower Movir 74 is a compact plant with a small rosette of leaves. The diameter of the plant does not exceed 60-75 cm, and leaves grow up to 50-70 cm. The shape of the foliage is round, and the surface is smooth, with a medium waxy bloom and slightly curved edges. The color of the leaves is rich green, sometimes a grayish tint can be traced.

Characterization of the appearance of the plant and heads

The heads ripen neat and aligned. The variety belongs to medium-sized varieties. The average weight of one cabbage head is 300-400 grams, sometimes the vegetable ripens up to 700-1000 g. The length of the cabbage does not exceed 15-25 cm. The shape of cabbage is standard - round or flat-round with pronounced tuberosity. The structure of the heads of cabbage is of high density, and the vegetable itself is fine-grained. Heads of cabbage have medium leaf coverage. The color of the fork is snow-white, but sometimes you can find yellowish heads of cabbage.

The evenness and uniformity of fruits allows for mechanical harvesting. Cut heads of cabbage easily tolerate transportation, and can also be stored for a long period at an appropriate temperature regime.

Purpose and taste

Cauliflower has excellent taste. The taste of the vegetable is mild, like most of its relatives, but rather delicate and pleasant. It is characteristic that there is no pungency and bitterness in it.

This variety is widely used in dietary and baby food. The vegetable contains vitamin C, mineral salts, sugar in the range of 3-5%, potassium, manganese, phosphorus, magnesium. In addition, Movir 74 cauliflower is widely used in cooking - the vegetable is pickled, stewed, canned, frozen, boiled, baked and fried. An important fact is that cauliflower is used as a cosmetic (face mask).

Ripening terms

Movir 74 represents a class of early maturing species. The growing season lasts less than 4 months - 105-106 days. The variety is characterized by amicable and simultaneous ripening. Harvesting is in July-August.

Yield

This variety is quite fruitful. Observing basic agricultural techniques, up to 6-8 kg of high-value cabbage heads can be cut from 1 m2 of plantings.Growing a vegetable for sale or processing, from 1 hectare of plantations, on average, 103 to 145 centners of cauliflower are obtained.

Growing and care

Cauliflower is cultivated exclusively by the seedling method. For this, in the period from 20.03 to 10.04, seeds are sown for seedlings. After 30-35 days, the matured bushes of the seedlings are transferred to a permanent place of growth (late April - early May). This requires a suitable temperature regime: + 18 ... 19 degrees - air, + 12 ... 13 degrees - soil. Landing is carried out according to the scheme 50x30 cm.

Caring for cabbage includes a standard algorithm of procedures: regular watering every 3-5 days, fertilizing 2-3 times (boron and molybdenum required), loosening and weeding the soil after each watering, disease prevention. In greenhouse structures, periodic ventilation is mandatory.

Of all types of cabbage, cauliflower is the most demanding in terms of growing conditions. Therefore, the choice of a suitable place for its planting should be approached responsibly.

Soil requirements

The plant grows comfortably in fluffy, light, fertile and breathable soils with low or neutral acidity. The culture does not develop in heavy, acidic and swampy soils.

For the normal formation of cauliflower and a good harvest, it is necessary to properly and timely care for it. The soil should be nutritious, rich in organic compounds and trace elements.

Required climatic conditions

For planting Movir 74 cauliflower, a leveled area is selected, which is well lit and warmed up by the sun's rays. Planting in lowlands, where there is swampiness and shade, is not recommended. In general, an early ripe vegetable is quite stress-resistant, therefore it easily tolerates temperature fluctuations, cold snaps, prolonged heat and even frost.

Disease and pest resistance

Thanks to its good immunity, the vegetable is resistant to many diseases - powdery mildew, bacteriosis and brown spot, but susceptible to keel and root rot. Another problem with this variety is the attacks of insects, such as fleas and aphids, which can be eliminated by spraying with colloidal salt and copper-containing solutions.

Cauliflower can suffer from fungal and viral diseases that occur due to changes in soil acidity, excessive moisture and freezing of the soil. Also, great harm to cabbage can be caused by the influence of parasitic insects.
