The fireplace, in addition to serving as a heating structure, creates an atmosphere of comfort, in itself is an excellent decorative element of the interior. The cladding of this equipment is designed to protect the walls from the high temperatures created during the combustion of fuel. In the case of an electric fireplace, it is necessary to make it look like a real home. The step-by-step production of a structure with a portal will help you independently implement the most daring design ideas.

By definition, a fireplace portal is an external design with a niche for an electrical device. What it will need to be decided immediately, based on the general style of the room.

• a portal in a classic design, a characteristic feature of which is severity and monumentality, as well as the absence of auxiliary decorative details;
• high-tech option - cladding with metal, glass, materials in black and white;
• Art Nouveau style - a combination of modern motives, a variety of shapes and colors with classic design notes;
• the country portal is a cladding with mineral slabs imitating natural stone.

The most popular of the frames are classic and modern. Such portals look harmonious in any setting. The appearance of the structure largely depends on the materials used and, of course, it is important that the portal is combined with the fireplace in style. After all, its main task is to emphasize the decorative features of the room.

Some people prefer to create their own original image. They can be advised to use a ready-made model - a hearth-insert, which does not have its own style.

First of all, you need to purchase an electric fireplace. In this case, you should pay attention to the dimensions of the product, usually they are indicated by the manufacturer. This information can also be found in the product catalog.

If you choose floor modifications, it must be borne in mind that they need a certain space in front of you, while wall-mounted fireplaces do not have such requirements and they look equally good in any room. The dimensions of the electrical appliance must be precisely adjusted in relation to the portal and occupy two-thirds of its height and half its width.

In addition, do not forget that you need a place to fix the mountings, place the electrical cable and other parts that are necessary for installation.

An important point is the choice of materials for the niche framing. Despite the fact that open fire is not provided, a high temperature is still present in the electric fireplace, therefore it must also be lined with a low-combustible coating. For the frame of the structure, metal profiles are taken. The stone portal is not relevant due to its severity and the complexity of fixing the segments. Wood is susceptible to cracking, so drywall remains the ideal finish, which meets all the requirements. The top finishing layer can be made of tiles, paint or plaster, synthetic stone, polyurethane or gypsum stucco molding.

• then it is necessary to strap the racks in their upper part;
• the portal can be tightly fixed to the wall using corners;
• drywall sheets are fixed with self-tapping screws, after which you need to connect the portal to the tabletop - it is better to immediately close it with a film to avoid contamination;
• seams and cracks in the upper part of the structure are sealed with several layers of putty;
• at the last stage, the portal is sheathed with finishing materials to taste.

An electric fireplace can only be installed after the masonry is completely dry.

At home, an electric fireplace with a wooden portal looks the most elegant, but dealing with this material is more difficult than with other coatings.
