How to plant?

Dwarf irises are planted during the warm season, namely from April to August. This representative of the flora responds well to replanting and is able to grow well in new places. After choosing a sunny, well-lit area, it is worth digging up the soil on it, adding fertilizers with potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus to it. Before we plant each Iris stalk, it must be treated with a manganese solution for several hours. This event will eliminate the risk of infection.

The planting material is lowered into the hole, while the root collar should be located above the soil level. The first 5 days after planting, the bush should be abundantly irrigated. After several hours have passed after watering, the substrate should be loosened without damaging the root system.

Around the dwarf iris, it is worth doing mulching based on small stones and grainy sand.

How to take care of it properly?

Caring for miniature irises does not mean anything complicated. In spring, until the moment of budding, the plant should be fed with potassium-phosphorus fertilizer. It promotes good bud formation and beauty. To stimulate flowering, it is worth adding a nitrogen-potassium composition in the first spring days. Also, do not forget that 20 days after the previous feeding of the killer whales, it is worth fertilizing with phosphorus and nitrogen. During flowering, irises require mineral fertilizing. Gardeners should prune buds that wither throughout the season. Closer to autumn, the bushes should be trimmed, leaving foliage 0.1 meters long. Leave at least 1 socket on each piece.

Reproduction

Today it is known 2 ways to breed miniature iris:

  • vegetative;
  • using seeds.

Gardeners often propagate this type of plant by dividing the root system. This event can be held at any time of the warm season. According to the opinion of professionals, it is worth doing this after a period of rest. Iris bushes can be grown using seeds. This option is ideal for breeding new plant forms. The culture is sown both in autumn and spring, but only after the stratification of seeds.

They are sown to a depth of 2 centimeters, and already in early spring, you can find the appearance of the first shoots.

Application in landscape design

Dwarf irises look good with other growing crops. Iris whales with primroses look very beautiful. Miniature shrubs grow comfortably next to alissum, milkweed, phlox, tulips. Bearded irises look good against the background of a rock garden. Daffodils and imperial hazel grouses are considered worthy neighbors for this representative of the flora. With the help of a dwarf iris, you can profitably decorate a border or create a rabat. It can also be positioned planted in a container. A beautiful flowering bush in a flowerpot will help you decorate a gazebo, balcony or veranda.
