Corydalis yellow is a perennial herb that is in great demand among summer residents when improving the local area. The plant is famous for its resistance to bad climates, as well as to diseases and harmful microorganisms.

Description of the plant

Depending on its type, the corydalis yellow can be both perennial and annual. The root mass of such a plant grows rather quickly, and also boasts great strength due to the fact that it goes deep into the ground. With proper care, the bushes can be up to 50 cm tall and the stems remain short. The main advantage of the corydalis yellow is that it does not require special care... Despite the fact that China is considered the birthplace of the plant, it also grows well in our latitudes. The culture grows well in areas with dry soils, where most other plants are unable to develop and survive.

The yellow corydalis is distinguished by its delicate foliage, which to some extent resembles an exceptional dicenter. It is thanks to this foliage that, even in the absence of flowers, the plant can boast of its decorative properties.

Flowers are collected in a brush of 6-20 pieces per stem, while the plant has small bracts.

The rhizomes are rather fleshy and are distinguished by yellowish roots.

Among the main advantages of this plant are the following:

  • resistance to extremely low temperatures, which makes it an excellent solution for cold regions;

  • no need to constantly care for the culture;

  • excellent melliferous characteristics;

  • attractive appearance, thanks to which it will be possible to completely transform the adjacent territory;

  • ease of reproduction.

Planting and leaving

You can start planting a plant at the end of summer. The ideal location for growing crops will be a semi-shaded area that provides as close to natural conditions as possible, which contributes to optimal growth.

It is impossible to position the corydalis in such a way that the sun's rays fall on it, as this can cause burns to the leaves.... The fact is that the leaves of this plant are distinguished by increased tenderness, therefore, too high temperatures can be harmful. Most summer residents prefer to plant plants in the shade of trees, as well as close to fences, which provides uniform lighting.

For corydalis yellow, a neutral soil will be an excellent solution, provided that the groundwater is deep. The main advantage of such a soil is that it provides the plant with the necessary amount of nutrients and organic compounds. If the soil is too heavy, then sand must be added before starting work.

Due to its unique characteristics, this plant requires the simplest care that will ensure its growth. It will be necessary to organize irrigation on an ongoing basis, weeding and loosening of the soil, as well as apply different types of fertilizers, if necessary. In addition, care will need to be taken to ensure that the culture is reliably protected from the effects of diseases and various microorganisms. Corydalis begins to grow actively in March, when the soil is still wet with snow, so there is no need to moisten.

Watering should be carried out only if the soil is dry and is not able to provide the culture with the necessary amount of useful microelements.

In order to ensure optimal growth, careful attention must be paid to watering. Watering should be carried out in such a way that water does not stagnate in the soil, as this can lead to the complete destruction of the culture. The fact is that excess water causes rotting of the root and other parts of the plant. That's why summer residents recommend watering after loosening the soil, due to which it will also be possible to prevent the appearance of a dry crust and ensure a more efficient production of useful components and microorganisms. If all this is done correctly and on an ongoing basis, then you can do without the use of additional fertilizers, which also favorably distinguishes the plant against the background of others.

Reproduction

Corydalis can be grown from seed, and the best time for this is the second half of summer or early fall.... For this, you can use both purchased seeds and collected from the plant itself. It should be borne in mind that already a few days after harvesting, the quality of the seeds deteriorates significantly, so planting cannot be postponed for a long period of time.

The algorithm looks like this.

  • The plastic containers are filled with nutrients, which include a combination of sand and peat. This is quite enough to provide optimal conditions for the growth of the culture.

  • Seeds are laid on the substrate, which are kept for several days in a warm place.

  • The seeds are watered with a little water, after which the container is covered with plastic wrap.

To ensure optimal seed growth, the soil must be constantly moistened using a spray bottle.... The plastic wrap can only be removed after the sprouts appear. The resulting seedlings can be transplanted into open ground not earlier than the beginning of summer, when there are no strong frosts even at night. The optimum soil temperature is +18 degrees. In the process of planting seeds when growing in this way, it is necessary to leave a distance of 10 cm, since the corydalis has a large root system.

The first flowers will appear several years after planting. A two-year-old crested, for example, already boasts nice flowers.

Another well-known and popular breeding method is root division method. A distinctive feature of this procedure is that it can be performed only once every few years, so that the plant can fully rest.

The rhizome parts must be divided in such a way that several growth buds remain on each fragment. Separate parts of the corydalis must be planted in a hole, the depth of which does not exceed 15 cm.The distance between them should also be at least 15 cm.

Diseases and pests

One of the benefits of Corydalis yellow is that this plant is famous for its resistance to various diseases and pests. It can deal with almost any problem, especially when it comes to pests. That is why most summer residents choose this culture to decorate the local area.

Very often the corydalis is affected by fungal diseases that appear due to too much water. In addition, it is necessary to provide excellent drainage so that there is no growth of the fungus. If the plant is sick, then the ideal way to get rid of the fungus is to use fungicides.

Viral diseases almost never infect these plants, however, in case of infection, you will have to dig up the corydalis and get rid of it.

Thus, corydalis yellow is an ideal plant for decorating the local area. It is quite unpretentious to care for, which greatly simplifies the growing process. In addition, the plant is famous for its resistance to bad weather conditions and external factors, which makes it possible to grow it even in regions with difficult climates.
