Pear Samara beauty is suitable for growing in any region. The fruits are juicy and have an unusual delicious taste. The variety has appeared relatively recently, but has gained particular popularity among gardeners.
Description of the variety
The type of growth is medium-sized. The maximum height does not exceed 3-4 m. The culture grows intensively before the beginning of fruiting, then the rate slows down. The crown of young seedlings is pyramidal, which eventually becomes rounded and drooping, with an average density. This shape is formed due to the growth of branches at an obtuse angle.
The brownish-brown shoots on the tree are compact, the tips are directed upwards. The leaves are medium in size, ovoid, light green in color. The leaf blade is slightly wavy and slightly pointed.
Fruit characteristics
It is characterized by medium-sized fruits, the average weight reaches 110-140 grams. Their shape is correct, one-dimensional, short-pear-shaped. The surface is smooth.
During the period of removable maturity, a greenish-yellow color predominates. At the time of full technical ripeness, the pear turns yellow in color, with a slight brownish-red blurry blush. On the skin there are numerous large subcutaneous dots of a green tone, which are clearly visible.
Taste qualities
Samara beauty has a pleasant sweet and sour taste, with a weak aroma. The pulp is very juicy and tender, creamy, with few seeds. Medium-density semi-oily pulp. On a five-point tasting scale, the variety is evaluated at 4.1 points.
The fruits have a universal purpose in cooking. Good indicators of transportability and keeping quality. The harvested crop does not lose its taste for 30 days.
Ripening and fruiting
The tree begins to bear fruit at 5-6 years of development. Blooms in mid-May. Early autumn variety. The fruits ripen by early September. Fruiting is annual. The crop is harvested throughout the month.
Yield
Good cropper. Seven-year-old specimens produce 32-34 kg of fruit.
Self-fertility and the need for pollinators
The Samara beauty is self-fertile. She does not need a pollinator companion, she is safely pollinated by insects.
Landing
When starting to plant a tree on your site, you need to carefully choose a place. The main thing is not to plant a pear in the place of the previous tree, since spores of bacteria and fungi can remain in the soil, which can infect a young seedling and lead to its death.
Choose a sunny place for landing. It should be noted that the tree grows tall. A minimum distance of 4 m is left between them. The Samara beauty is not too picky about the composition of the soil - the main thing is that there is good drainage.
You can plant seedlings in spring and autumn. In the southern regions, planting is best done in the autumn - summer heat can greatly slow down development. In the Urals and Siberia, it is better to do planting work in the spring, so young seedlings will be able to successfully root in a season and endure severe frosts.
When choosing seedlings, pay attention to the condition of the root system and the trunk, which must be clean and even. Their height is from 50 to 100 cm. The branches should be evenly spaced.
The site is preliminarily prepared, the earth is dug up, weeds and roots are removed. The planting hole is dug in a volume larger than the root system. Uncompacted soil on the sides creates favorable conditions for better development.
Rotted mullein and wood ash are placed at the bottom of the hole. Next comes a layer of fertile soil. The seedling is pre-soaked in water, then dipped in a mash made of clay with copper sulfate. This will protect the roots from fungus. The roots are gently straightened, sprinkled, tamped, poured abundantly with warm water. At first, the tree is watered often, at least 2-3 times a week, for good rooting.
Growing and care
The pear is not particularly whimsical to grow. The minimum care of the variety consists of a number of activities.
Timely watering from May to August. Irrigation stops at the beginning of the harvest.
Top dressing is applied as needed. If the growth of young shoots is at least 20 cm, additional nutrition is not needed. It is not introduced with the onset of ripening.
Pruning is carried out in spring and autumn. Be sure to remove old, damaged and dried branches. Cut off the shoots that go vertically upward and thicken the crown.
The variety tolerates frosts well down to -27 degrees. For better wintering, the tree is covered with mulch, and young seedlings - with agrofibre.
Disease and pest resistance
The culture has a strong immunity to most infections and pests. But the plant is especially susceptible to scab and moniliosis. For prevention, trees are treated with special preparations.
Like any other fruit trees, the pear needs protection from various diseases and pests. When planting a pear on your site, you need to know in advance what diseases you should beware of.To successfully carry out the struggle, it is necessary first to correctly identify the cause of the problem. It is important to distinguish signs of disease from manifestations of the presence of insects, mites, caterpillars and other types of pests.
