Pear Naryadnaya Efimova is a popular variety of fruit trees grown in many regions of the Russian Federation. It belongs to the category of dining rooms, bears fruit abundantly in the fall, does not require complex care during the cultivation process. Pear of this variety is also found under the name Elegant, is valued for its good transportability and marketability.

Breeding history

The variety was bred by the specialist of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution of the Federal Research Center of Horticulture V.A.Efimov, it was entered in the register after testing in 1974. When crossing, the parent plants Tonkovotka x Lyubimitsa Klappa were used.

Description of the variety

Pear Elegant Efimova is formed in the form of a vigorous tree 4-5 m high with a pyramidal crown. The density of branches is average, skeletal shoots depart from the central one at an acute angle. They are weakly geniculate, straight, not pubescent, colored brownish-brown. The leaves on the branches are smooth and shiny, green in color. The flowers are medium in size with oval white petals and have a pleasant aroma.

Fruit characteristics

Pears of the Nadyadnaya Efimova variety are distinguished by a smooth skin with a basic yellow-green tint and a bright crimson-red cover that occupies up to 80% of the surface. Fruits are of medium size, each weighing 110-135 g. The shape is elongated pear-shaped. On the surface, subcutaneous points are clearly visible, the flesh has a whitish-creamy shade.

Taste qualities

The fruits of this pear variety are slightly tart, sweet and sour. The pulp is firm and juicy, slightly oily, pleasant. The fruit has a light aroma. The tasting score reaches 4 points. The harvested pears are stored for 2-3 weeks.

Ripening and fruiting

Early autumn variety, reaches consumer maturity in mid-September. Fruits begin to take off from the end of August. Fruiting occurs from 5-6 years after planting the tree.

Ripening of pears begins in the second half of summer and lasts until mid-autumn. To keep the pears fresh and tasty until winter, harvesting takes into account the characteristics of the variety, the ripening time and the weather conditions in the region.

Yield

According to the indicators of fruit collection, the variety is classified as high-yielding. On average, it is possible to get more than 70-140 kg of fruits from a tree or up to 30 t / ha when grown in orchards on an industrial scale.

Growing regions

The variety is zoned for planting in the Central and Middle Volga regions. It was here that he passed state tests.

Self-fertility and the need for pollinators

The plant needs to be planted with a number of pollinating varieties. Best of all, Bergamot, Moskvichka, Lyubimitsa Yakovlev show themselves in this quality. Stretched flowering, starts from the bottom of the crown. The trees are bee-pollinated, partially capable of self-pollination.

Landing

Chernozem or forest gray soil is best suited for placing pear seedlings Nadyadnaya Efimova, they grow well on loam. For planting, you can take plants at the age of 1-2 years, well-rooted and viable. This event is usually planned for the spring, but you can hold it in the fall, before the onset of frost. When choosing a location, preference is given to dry, not swampy areas, illuminated by the sun most of the day. In the shade, plants develop worse, they get sick more often.

The basic rules for planting this pear are pretty simple. A pit is prepared for each seedling, leaving 4-5 m of free space between them.In the early years, it is better to prepare a retaining peg so that the young tree does not suffer from gusts of wind or other external influences. The pit is filled with a soil mixture of sod, organic matter and complex fertilizers, selected taking into account the composition of the soil. Then everything is thoroughly watered so that the soil is a donkey - enough 20 liters of water per hole, left for 2-3 weeks under a shelter made of agromaterial.

When planting, a small bulk cone is formed inside the hole, along which the roots of the tree are lowered. They are pre-pruned, removing the dried out processes, soaked as necessary or treated with a talker based on manure and clay. It is not customary to deepen the root collar. It is left at a height of 50 mm from the soil level.

After filling the hole, the soil is carefully tamped. The tree is tied to an established support, then poured with 3 buckets of water. After that, the soil will settle down a little. It can be mulched to better retain moisture at the roots, using natural materials for these purposes - shavings and sawdust, peat, hay, pine needles.

In order for the pears to be tasty and of high quality, and the yields to be consistently high, you need to responsibly approach the planting of a fruit tree. When planting a pear, you need to take into account many factors: correctly determine the timing, choose the right place, pay attention to the preparation of the planting pit.
Pear grafting is a simple and exciting procedure, but it requires accuracy and adherence to a number of rules. First of all, you need to take care of the selection and procurement of inoculation material, deal with the timing and methods of vaccination. An important point is also the choice of the rootstock, on the quality of which the result of the entire event and future fruiting will directly depend.

Growing and care

You don't have to pay much attention to the pear of Naryadnaya Efimova in the garden. She responds well to even minimal care. It is enough not to forget about the need for weekly watering of plants, with the introduction of 2-3 buckets of water under each tree. During periods of drought, humidification becomes more intense, it is carried out more often.

From 3 years after planting, in spring or autumn, fertilizing is introduced - organic or complex mineral, with superphosphate and potassium supplements. In April, it is recommended to saturate the soil with nitrogen using ammonium nitrate. During the flowering period, superphosphate will be useful. The yellowing of the leaves in this variety indicates a lack of magnesium. It is treated with foliar spraying.

In the spring, before the buds awaken, the trees are pruned, removing dried shoots that have suffered from frost or are simply broken. It is also necessary to fight the thickening of the crown, removing unnecessary branches, directing their growth. It is necessary to maintain the pyramidal shape of the crown in young trees so that the fruits have time to ripen, receive enough sunlight on the lower branches. Timely pruning of old shoots will also significantly extend the life of the tree.

In order for a pear to grow correctly and give high yields, its branches must be cut off in time. Pruning can be done in both spring and fall. Depending on the age of the tree and the goals set, pruning can be: sanitary, thinning, shaping, stimulating, rejuvenating.
Feeding pears is a must-have procedure that cannot be ignored. Experienced gardeners recommend applying the first fertilizers two years after planting the tree. The process is divided into 3 main stages, which are determined by the timing of ripening, flowering and fruiting of the pear.
There are two ways to grow a pear seedling - vegetative and by seed. The first method is the most common, including propagation by cuttings, air layers, seedling buds. Seeds are grown less often, since in order to get a bountiful harvest with good taste of the fruit, the seedling will need to be grafted.

Disease and pest resistance

Pears of this variety have high immunity to major diseases. The scab tree is weakly affected. Prophylactic treatment of the garden is carried out only when a real danger is identified. Pests are also not too interested in this pear variety, so a healthy tree does not need pest spraying either.

Like any other fruit trees, the pear needs protection from various diseases and pests. When planting a pear on your site, you need to know in advance what diseases you should beware of. To successfully carry out the struggle, it is necessary first to correctly identify the cause of the problem. It is important to distinguish signs of disease from manifestations of the presence of insects, mites, caterpillars and other types of pests.

Resistance to soil and climatic conditions

Elegant Efimova is a pear with average winter hardiness. The tree tolerates a short-term drop in atmospheric temperatures well; weather conditions do not affect flowering or fruit setting. Plants react strongly to drought, the taste and marketability of pears decrease. With a prolonged lack of moisture, a white bloom may appear on young shoots.

Review overview

Elegant Efimova is a pear, known in amateur gardening for more than a dozen years. The variety is valued both as a pollinator for other trees, and as an independent source of tasty fruits. It gives ovaries annually, without missing, tolerates rainy or cloudy summers well with few sunny days. Summer residents note that the brightness of the color of pears largely depends on the amount of light falling on them, but this factor has little effect on ripening.

Gardeners note that the fruits of this variety cannot be left on the branches until they are fully ripe, they are harvested a little earlier. If this rule is violated, the pears become viscous and watery on the inside. Such fruits are poorly suitable for transportation, their taste loses its brightness and saturation. And also the disadvantages include weak winter hardiness, but this problem is successfully solved by grafting on a stem more adapted to difficult climatic conditions.
