Among fruit trees in our country, not only apples, but also pears are popular. A wide variety of varieties gives gardeners the opportunity to choose the optimal plant for their site. Yakovlev's favorite is one of the most demanded and popular varieties among professionals and amateurs.

Description of the variety

The pear was bred by domestic breeders by combining the varieties Bergamot Esperena and Dachi Blankova. She immediately became widespread in private and industrial gardens. As for the regional presence, this species grows well in the middle lane, central regions. The external characteristics of the pear are as follows:

  • the tree is strong, powerful, grows very quickly;
  • the crown is wide, like a pyramid, not too dense, the amount of foliage is average;
  • branches grow at an angle of an almost straight type;
  • the bark of the tree and branches is smooth, grayish;
  • fruit formations are formed on ringlets and spears;
  • shoots not too thick, slightly curved, brown, dotted;
  • medium-sized leaf, elongated in shape, dark green;
  • the leaf blade is bent, with a sharp tip;
  • stipule lanceolate, rather narrow;
  • buds are small, brown in color, with a sharp end;
  • the flowers are snow-white, collected in inflorescences like saucers, there is a small terry;
  • flowering later.

The variety has the following positive properties:

  • frost resistance;
  • unpretentious care;
  • pleasant taste.

But there are also disadvantages that you also need to know about:

  • the tree grows too large and takes up a lot of space;
  • the pulp is rough in comparison with other varieties;
  • there are hard cells in the pulp.

On the basis of this variety, many high-quality varieties of pears have been bred.

Fruit characteristics

Apples of this variety are of medium size, they are one-dimensional, rounded-rhombic. The skin is smooth, of medium thickness, dense, dull shade. As for the color, in the period of maturity, the color is yellow-gold, there is a slight tan and an abundance of dots under the skin. There is also a long, curved peduncle. Weight ranges from 130 to 190 g.

Taste qualities

The pulp has a medium density and creamy tone, quite decent juiciness, aroma similar to quince. There are granules, large cells. The taste of the fruit is sweet, almost no sourness is observed. Pears of this variety have a universal purpose, they are suitable for fresh consumption and for the preparation of canned products.

Ripening and fruiting

Since the self-fertility of this variety is considered partial, it is necessary to use additional pollinating varieties. Among them, Duchesse is considered optimal. Yakovlev's favorite is an autumn variety, so it bears fruit late. The first fruits can be harvested in early September. The last harvest is taken in November or a little earlier.

Ripening of pears begins in the second half of summer and lasts until mid-autumn.To keep the pears fresh and tasty until winter, harvesting takes into account the characteristics of the variety, the ripening time and the weather conditions in the region.

Yield

The first worthy harvest Yakovleva's favorite brings in the fifth or sixth year after planting. The yield is growing every year, but its indicators will be average. During the period of maturity, 23-47 kg can be harvested from one tree, and about 200 centners are removed from a hectare.

Landing

This pear variety grows and develops most readily in sunny areas with good soil quality. Particular attention should be paid to the groundwater level: it is better if they are located no higher than 2.5 m. As for the planting time, it is very important to carry out all procedures in the absence of sap flow. This is either the last week of September and early October, or early spring. One-year-olds and two-year-olds take root best of all.

Since the tree grows tall, you need to choose the place correctly. Other fruit crops should not be closer than three meters. It is better to prune the roots before planting, so the tree will absorb all the necessary substances as much as possible. For these purposes, a garden pruner is used. After this procedure, the roots are soaked in water for several hours. You can add nutrients to the water.

The depth of the pit is formed from the calculation of the root system of the seedling. The average is 50 to 50 cm. The bottom is thoroughly ripped through. Despite the fact that the plant requires mineral fertilizing, the roots and fertilizer should not be allowed to come into contact. Young roots can be damaged by this contact.

The soil, as mentioned above, is recommended fertile, plus it should be loosened. Heavy soil is not the best option for this type of tree. If such problems exist on the site, you need to add sand, perlite, vermiculite to the soil. This variety responds very well to iron supplements, so it is recommended to place a handful of rusted nails on the bottom. Otherwise, the fit will be the same as for other pears.

In order for the pears to be tasty and of high quality, and the yields to be consistently high, you need to responsibly approach the planting of a fruit tree. When planting a pear, you need to take into account many factors: correctly determine the timing, choose the right place, pay attention to the preparation of the planting pit.
Pear grafting is a simple and exciting procedure, but it requires accuracy and adherence to a number of rules. First of all, you need to take care of the selection and procurement of inoculation material, deal with the timing and methods of vaccination. An important point is also the choice of the rootstock, on the quality of which the result of the entire event and future fruiting will directly depend.

Growing and care

Care measures for a pear of this variety are quite common: loosening, watering, fertilizing. But there are still some nuances.

Top dressing:

  • the seedling is not fed in the first year: this can interfere with the development of the roots;
  • from the second year, you need to start feeding, the first procedure - during the snow melting period (at this time, nitrogen is needed);
  • nitrogenous compounds are introduced exactly according to the instructions, the average amount of solution per tree is 3 meters - 5 liters;
  • after a couple of weeks, another procedure is carried out, if the growth is weak, then the fertilizing will again be nitrogen;
  • per season, a pear needs three to four complex fertilizers;
  • from the second half of the season, they begin to feed with potassium-phosphorus compounds.

Moisturizing:

  • despite the fact that this variety loves abundant watering, it is impossible in any case to turn the soil into a swamp;
  • it is important not to forget about the following rule: one watering takes place for one loosening, otherwise the access of oxygen to the roots will be impaired;
  • if the tree is planted in the fall, the soil is shed qualitatively - about 35 liters per tree;
  • lack of autumn watering will lead to the fact that the roots do not stick to the ground tightly, which can damage the tree by frost;
  • autumn watering is carried out at the end of October, regardless of whether it rains or not;
  • before carrying out autumn watering, stick a shovel into the soil with half a bayonet, squeeze a handful of earth with your hand: if it crumbles, you need maximum moisture;
  • watering is divided several times.
In order for a pear to grow correctly and give high yields, its branches must be cut off in time. Pruning can be done in both spring and fall. Depending on the age of the tree and the goals set, pruning can be: sanitary, thinning, shaping, stimulating, rejuvenating.
Feeding pears is a must-have procedure that cannot be ignored. Experienced gardeners recommend applying the first fertilizers two years after planting the tree. The process is divided into 3 main stages, which are determined by the timing of ripening, flowering and fruiting of the pear.
There are two ways to grow a pear seedling - vegetative and by seed. The first method is the most common, including propagation by cuttings, air layers, seedling buds. Seeds are grown less often, since in order to get a bountiful harvest with good taste of the fruit, the seedling will need to be grafted.

Disease and pest resistance

Prevention of diseases and parasites is as follows:

  • remove diseased plants and remove weeds in time;
  • dig up the ground in the fall;
  • whitewash the trunks before winter;
  • you can use sticky pest traps;
  • spray with insecticidal and fungicidal compositions.

Least of all, Lyubimitsa Yakovleva is resistant to scab, and if the weather is damp, the risks increase. If you notice dark spots on the foliage and the leaf began to fall off prematurely, then these are signs of a disease. Sick plants in autumn and spring are treated with Bordeaux liquid. Before flowering and after its end, one or two times are treated with fungicidal preparations.

Like any other fruit trees, the pear needs protection from various diseases and pests. When planting a pear on your site, you need to know in advance what diseases you should beware of. To successfully carry out the struggle, it is necessary first to correctly identify the cause of the problem. It is important to distinguish signs of disease from manifestations of the presence of insects, mites, caterpillars and other types of pests.
