The most popular fruit around the world is the pear. She is equally loved by both children and adults because of her taste. In addition, it is dietary and healthy, as it contains vitamins.
Breeding history
Pear is an uncommon culture in Siberia; its breeding began in 1937. P. A. Zhavoronkov stood at the origins of this activity. According to the research results, it was found that the first generation hybrids from crossing the Ussuri pear with Western European varieties inherit the high winter hardiness of the species. E. A. Falkenberg in the 1980s, on the basis of this hybridological analysis, established the adaptive potential and patterns of inheritance of economically valuable pear traits in terms of winter hardiness, productivity, disease resistance and fruit quality. He created the Dekabrinka variety in 1991.
To date, breeders of the South Ural NIIPOK have bred more than 20 varieties of pears, many of which are unique. They combine high winter hardiness with the excellent quality of European pear fruits. Of these, 9 varieties have been entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements Admitted for Use. Among them is Dekabrinka. This variety continues to be used for breeding as parent forms.
Description of the variety
The tree usually reaches 5 meters in height, its crown is dense and has an oval shape. The branches are quite rare, departing from the trunk at an angle of 90 degrees. The leaf is bright green, oblong in shape, the tip is sharp, the petiole is long. The shoot is brown in color, also has an elongated shape, the buds are leaning against it.
Fruit characteristics
The pears themselves are not very large, the weight category varies from 100 to 120 grams. Ripe pear has a dark yellow color, ruddy side. The pulp is quite dense, its color is creamy. The fruit is oily and juicy. Large seeds, chambers for them are of a closed type. The peduncle is long and thick. It is this variety that is perfectly preserved after harvest.
Taste qualities
Dekabrinka is known for its unusually sweet taste with a slight sourness, its smell is quite pleasant, but not harsh. The fruits contain monosugar, organic acids, vitamins. Dekabrinka fruits have arbutin, which actively prevents and treats kidney disease. Pears are most often eaten fresh, but you can also make compote or puree.
Ripening and fruiting
The pear is of autumn ripening, the fruits can be harvested at the end of August - in the second half of September. Differs in a sufficiently large number of fruits. At the same time, the flowering period is quite late.
Yield
Pear begins to bear fruit in the 7th year after planting, a high-yielding variety.
Landing
It is best to buy pears when they are one or two years old, but by no means older. As practice has shown, adult trees are very sick, since the core system of the plant suffers during digging, most of the roots are simply chopped off. Such a tree lags behind in growth, if at all, takes root, while young seedlings form a powerful "skeleton" in a few years.
Dekabrinka is a variety designed for severe weather conditions. It is pointless to plant it before mid-May. The advantage of planting in the spring is soil moisture, which gives comfortable conditions for the plant to take root, the owner has more opportunities to monitor the growth of the tree. When landing, you need to install a strong peg, but do not pull the rope too much.
If it is not possible to plant Dekabrinka in the spring, then you should not postpone the process until September, otherwise the still weak tree will freeze out.
The pear should be planted in a sunny area where the wind does not penetrate. The higher the Dekabrinka grows, the better, since at the bottom it will be uncomfortable due to excess moisture. The roots will rot and the tree will disappear. The tree hole should be about 60 centimeters deep and 80 centimeters wide. 10 centimeters of drainage is poured into the bottom. After planting, the trunk and shoots must be cut by a quarter.
Growing and care
During the year, immediately after planting, Dekabrinka requires a lot of attention. The first days the tree does not need to be watered, after 10 days each seedling should be watered in the size of two buckets, but the weather conditions must also be taken into account.
As the pear tree grows, it will need to be watered less often, but more abundantly. The earth is constantly loosened so that the loam does not interfere with growth. Periodically, Dekabrinka needs to be fed, but not in the first season. It is best to use bird droppings and ash as top dressing in spring. With the onset of autumn, it is necessary to make a complete mineral complex.
Like any other fruit trees, the pear needs protection from various diseases and pests. When planting a pear on your site, you need to know in advance what diseases you should beware of.To successfully carry out the struggle, it is necessary first to correctly identify the cause of the problem. It is important to distinguish signs of disease from manifestations of the presence of insects, mites, caterpillars and other types of pests.
Review overview
This variety is very popular among Siberian gardeners, as it is frost-resistant, which is important for regions with risky farming. Fruits can lay for more than a month and are a great alternative to European varieties grown in the south. According to tasters, Dekabrinka is one of the best varieties.
