Kitchen-living room in Provence style: comfort and practicality in the interior

Provence is a rustic style that originated in the south of France. Such an interior is distinguished by romance and lightness. Today, such a design is often chosen for a wide variety of premises. This is a very good interior for a combined room - a kitchen-living room. This style provides practicality and comfort.

Provencal-style decor is suitable if you aim to create a special atmosphere and maximum comfort in the room.

When thinking about what the design should be in such a room, certain rules should be taken into account:

• In such rooms, it is not recommended to use gilded and shiny elements, glossy, plastic products.
• It is better to make accents with live indoor plants.
• To decorate the room, use lace napkins, embroidery and other similar decorative elements.
• Refuse to use too prominent, very bright objects.

• Try to keep all modern technology hidden.
• Decorate the room with antique pieces of furniture.
• Choose only natural materials: linen, cotton fabrics, stone, wood, and so on.

For the living room, it is better to choose a laminate or parquet surface, a coating that imitates natural wood (it is possible with artificial scuffs). A floor like this will go just fine with a rustic design.

For wall decoration, it is recommended to choose wallpaper with an unobtrusive pattern, or plain coatings. If you want to decorate a room in a Provencal style, you can choose other materials: brick, ceramics, wood panels, decorative plaster, stone elements, textiles. It is also possible to use paint.

In the recreation area, one wall can be finished with wooden materials, artificial or natural stone, ceramic mosaic. However, you can do the opposite - highlight the area where the kitchen is located.

If the room has a high enough ceiling, you can decorate it with wood beams. For rooms with medium or low ceilings, this option will not work. If you have chosen a brick for decoration, keep in mind that some place will be "eaten up" - you should not use such material to decorate a small room.

For the Provencal style, it is recommended to use furniture of not very complex shapes. A large amount of carving is not welcome - such elements are characteristic of the classics, as are the gilded surfaces. Furniture items should be created from materials that mimic wood surfaces, or from natural wood. Optimum shades are light brownish, white. Dark, massive, bulky products are not suitable for the Provencal style.

You can choose for such an interior blank cabinets that stand on the floor, hanging boxes with glass inserts, open shelves. Beige, olive, bluish, white tones are also used. You can use bronze, iron, copper elements.

Some have a dining area in the middle of the kitchen-living room, thus dividing the space into two parts. The shape of the table can be square or round. Such products should be durable and match in tone with the surfaces in the kitchen.

A very good option for a Provencal-style dining area is wicker chairs. In the recreation area, you can arrange shelves where various things and dressers will be stored. It is better to choose furniture made of walnut, light oak, ash. The room should not be overloaded: when deciding how much furniture to put there, be guided by its size.

A good choice would be a light sofa with natural upholstery: it may have floral patterns on it. It is recommended to use enough pillows. The armchairs can be combined in style with the sofa.

The area where the kitchen is located can be decorated with utensils: beautiful bottles, jars containing spices, clay jugs, porcelain mugs and plates, and so on. In the recreation area, put cute trinkets, paintings, old photographs, candlesticks, various figurines. Wicker baskets and fresh flowers can be placed on the floor.

For interior decoration it is recommended to use:

• beautiful furniture covers, bedspreads;
• embroidery;
• towels, aprons, checkered or floral tablecloths;
• lampshades;
• various napkins.

The materials used should be cotton, cambric, satin, linen. For window decoration, choose curtains made from natural lightweight fabrics. They should be light. Dried plants can be used to decorate the kitchen.

A fireplace will be an ideal decoration for a room decorated in a Provencal style. He will create maximum comfort in the room, an atmosphere of coziness. Choose for such a room a chandelier with wooden, ceramic, wrought iron elements.

Using interesting furniture and textiles of high quality, you can make even a small room functional and comfortable.

To divide the space into two zones, you can use the bar counter. Since the room is decorated in Provence style, it is better to make it artificially aged.

If you want to brighten the room, you can use white parquet for finishing the floor.
