Description of the plant

Crops with small but abundant flowers are in great demand among gardeners. That is why attention should be paid to the pink gypsophila, which can outshine many rival decorative species. The height of its stem does not exceed 15 cm. The crown is wide, and the shoots are spreading. A close botanical relative is the garden carnation.

Gypsophila pink is both perennial and annual, depending on the type. Creeping shoots are usually colored in the original bluish-green tone. The middle stem is devoid of leaves. But for him, a very strong branching is typical. Small leaves are formed on the branches, similar to a lancet.

Types and varieties

There are many types of plants. Gypsophila pacific is common in the PRC and the Primorsky Territory. Its stems are prone to strong branching. The leaves are colored blue-gray. Large flowers have an unsaturated pink color. The plant needs loose soil and categorically does not tolerate contact with soil water. The panicle variety is different:

  • spherical shape;
  • openwork appearance;
  • flowering from late June to early August;
  • good suitability for mixborders.

Creeping gypsophila is an annual crop. She loves sunny warm places. Paniculate inflorescences include white or pink flowers. The flowering period is June - September. Such a plant looks good in bouquets.

Paniculata gypsophila can also have a terry shape. In this version, the culture is represented by the Gypsy Rose variety. It fits perfectly into romantic style gardens, but can also be used in hanging pots. The ampelous variety is prone to strong branching. Openwork shoots, up to 45 cm in length.

Since 2008, Gypsophila Pink Cloud has been listed in the Russian state register of plants. Its features:

  • height from 50 to 60 cm;
  • small foliage;
  • corymbose panicles of inflorescences;
  • diameter 30-35 cm;
  • flowering within 40-45 days.

Pink Haze - actively branching annual. This culture fits perfectly into any garden design. Small flowers have a diameter of no more than 1 cm. Inflorescences are loose and resemble a wide scutellum. Plant height is 20-50 cm, depending on a number of circumstances.

Variety Pink Flamingo can grow up to 120 cm. Its delicate bushes resemble a ball. Although flowering occurs in the hottest part of summer, this does not create problems for the plant. The appearance of such a gypsophila is especially beautiful with the onset of the evening hours. She confidently enters into dry-flowered compositions.

The height of 120 cm is also typical for the Pink Festival variety.. Its features:

  • perennial culture;
  • light pink color of flowers;
  • bloom from July to September;
  • suitability for mixborders, group and single plantings;
  • decent frost resistance.

Planting and leaving

Seeds should be sown in April or May. Transfer to a permanent cultivation site usually takes place in September. Perennial forms, however, are sown for seedlings in the last decade of March. They are transplanted into open ground when 1 true leaf appears. It is necessary to choose areas illuminated by bright light or in weak partial shade.In addition to seeds, you can also breed pink gypsophila with cuttings.

The cultivation of pink gypsophila implies, among other things, deep soil water. It is necessary to water the plant only in moments of severe drought and exclusively at the root.

During the season, the culture is fertilized twice or three times with manure, but not with fresh mullein, but only after aging.

Of the pests, nematodes are dangerous, which are defeated by spraying with phosphamide. Such processing will have to be carried out repeatedly. If they are unsuccessful, the bush is dug up and its roots are washed in water heated to 50-55 °.

Fighting rust and gray mold involves spraying with contact fungicides. Their simplest version is copper sulfate. Perennial plants at the end of the autumn period will have to be cut off, leaving 3 or 4 strong stems at the root. Covering with spruce branches or dry foliage will allow the culture to winter confidently.
