Semi-automatic heads are popular, that is, when the line comes out in a semi-automatic form. A special mechanism is installed in it, the line is fed quickly enough, without manual intervention. The mower must touch the ground with the head, the mechanism is activated, the cord is fed. For this there is no need to turn off the machine, which is especially appreciated by the owners of the petrol cutter.

Therefore, it is not always possible to rationally stop your choice on semi-automatic reels. Automatic devices are quite reliable and efficient to use. The cord is added when the engine speed is reduced in automatic mode. The line feed is automatic, which is very practical for most types of braids, especially brushcutters. Such heads are 2 times more expensive than semi-automatic options, so not everyone can buy them, but experience has shown that quality auto reels last much longer than all others.

The universal head is used in different types of trimmers. This option will be optimal if the mower uses several tools to cut the grass. Such devices are suitable for different trimmers and braids, have a low cost, but also do not have good reliability. Moreover, they are easy to find, this is a fairly common type of coils, unlike branded ones.

There are several types of cord charging type.

• Fast charging option. Such spools are considered the most modern, they cannot be disassembled. In order to wind the fishing line, it is enough to push it into the hole of the head, combine the 2 ends and screw it onto the drum. This mechanism is used in automatic type heads, sometimes in semi-automatic ones. The master does not need to understand the rules for winding the fishing line and spend time refueling it.

• Collapsible option. This option is used on semi-automatic as well as manual heads. In order to wind the line on the spool, it is necessary to muffle the device. Then it is worth disassembling the head cover, pulling out the coil. After that, you need to wind a cord around it and put it in place.

As practice shows, the most popular option is collapsible. The price has an impact, it is affordable for most people. The coils in them are like this.

• One-section, in which the line is wound through one groove.
• Two-piece, in it the line is laid in 2 grooves. This is a convenient and easy way to lay your line.

In order to assess the condition of the coil on your own, it is necessary to examine the coil body; there should be no cracks or dirt on it.

If everything is in order, then we check the coil.

• Checking the resistance.
• Checking for a spark.
• You can use a candle.
• If the situation is hopeless, then it is necessary to remove the lid from the candle, put the nail without the "cap". The main thing is not to damage the cap.
• We start the unit. We check the ignition system. Make sure that the spark plug is screwed straight into the hole. We look at the color of the spark. If the color is blue, then there is no malfunction.

Whenever checking, it is necessary to adjust the clearance between the flywheel and the coil. The amount of clearance varies depending on the tool model. The clearance between the handwheel and the spool should be between 0.2 and 0.4 mm. It is better to check the ignition coil with a multimeter, as well as a tester. It is impractical to repair the ignition coil.
