How to level the ground under the lawn?

All gardeners dream of a flat allotment of land, but not everyone has this wish come true. Many have to be content with areas with poor soil and relief landscape. There are several ways to change the relief, but first you need to understand why to do this.

Determine the alignment level. This is usually the average height of the site from the maximum to the minimum point. Using pegs and rope, divide the area into squares. Create an imitation "lattice". This makes it easier to see which defects need to be eliminated - where to fill in the pits, and where to level the hills.

Using the level, determine the soil layer and eliminate all irregularities on its surface. After completing the work, inspect the site again to make sure there are no holes or bumps. After putting the earthen layer in order, go over its surface with a rake.

Simple leveling is not enough, the ground still needs to be well tamped. To do this, you can use a special technique - a skating rink. It is not necessary to buy such a unit, you can make it yourself. Fill a large barrel with rubble and roll it around the area several times. Top up the soil and re-compact if necessary.

The ramming process can take 10-30 days. If a lawn is created on the site, a slight slope is acceptable to ensure a good drainage of moisture.

• If the area is heavily overgrown with weeds, herbicides are used to control them. It is important to select a chemical that will destroy a certain type of weed.
• If there are old stumps in the area set aside for the lawn, they are uprooted or covered with saltpeter. The second option makes it possible to turn the stumps into dust.
