Choosing furniture for a dressing room is not an easy task. It differs significantly in its design, materials from which it is made, as well as internal filling. The characteristics of a particular type of storage system will be discussed in this article.

Features and Benefits

Among the features of dressing room furniture, there are several:

  1. With proper organization, it will have better ergonomics than a wardrobe. This will help save space and not overload the room with unnecessary wardrobes and dressers - individually, they steal space, especially when opening doors or drawers.
  2. The presence of closed sections to protect the contents from dust, and open ones, providing the necessary air circulation. Open compartments are necessary for products made from fur, leather and other natural materials that need air to maintain their appearance. They also improve visibility and usability.
  3. All sections, holders and shelves can be metal. Inside the dressing room, they are hidden from prying eyes and therefore it is possible not to adhere to aesthetic requirements and consistency with the overall design of an apartment or house.

You can also fit the dressing room into the interior with the help of a curtain, which will cost less than a wardrobe, which must have an appropriate look.

Thus, all the features are also advantages at the same time. It is a modern and convenient way to store a wide variety of things.

Varieties

There are three main types of wardrobe furniture, they can also be combined with each other:

  • Hull is the most common. Consists of many body elements fastened together. The result is a wardrobe-like structure. It is made, as a rule, of chipboard. In rare cases - from tinted wood.

One of the advantages over other types of structures is the possibility of using side panels. They can hold various holders for clothes, belts, ties and ironing boards, as well as hangers or shoe shelves.

  • The panel construction, in addition to storage, also performs a decorative function. It is made of natural wood, such as pine, as well as veneered slabs. Due to these features, the compact and numerous placement of shelves, boxes and clothes on hangers will be inappropriate, and also technically difficult to implement. For such a dressing room to be roomy and beautiful, you need a lot of space. However, due to its aesthetic properties, it can be used in small open spaces.

Note that the cost of such a natural wood system is quite high, and the use of veneered panels can impair aesthetics.

  • Modular (frame) furniture consists of shelves mounted on metal rails or racks. Manufacturing material - aluminum or steel. Aluminum parts are processed by anodizing, chrome plating, polishing, painting or veneered. Steel is painted or laminated. The main advantage of this design is ease of assembly, disassembly and modification. Thus, the modules can be easily disassembled and installed in a new room, change the height of shelves or add additional ones.

If necessary, you can purchase a variation of the furniture on wheels for greater mobility within the dressing room.

Modular furniture fittings depend on the type of frame. To fasten shelves, baskets and hangers on racks, guides (stationary or retractable) are used, on the rails - brackets, to which, if necessary, retractable elements are attached.

In cabinet furniture, the same pull-out systems are used as in frame furniture. They can operate on ball or roller mechanisms. There are new and improved devices - tandems. They are equipped with automatic door closers, which allows the drawer to slide to the end on its own. Another advantage is their quiet and smooth running.

In a full-fledged dressing room, in addition to the storage furniture itself, as a rule, there are two mirrors, appropriate lighting, a pouf or a chair.

If there is not enough space for the equipment of such a room, it can be organized in the hallway. Then the storage complex will be closed with sliding doors with mirrors, and in the hallway itself, you can hang another mirror on the opposite wall, the necessary lighting and put furniture: a table and a pouf.

Furniture types

The interior of the dressing room includes many different elements. Wardrobes contain shelves, drawers, baskets and hangers.

Shelves can be set at different heights for better sorting of folded items or under specific boxes. Drawers can contain dividers for small items such as ties, belts, underwear and socks. Special boxes are also produced in which you can conveniently store jewelry.

Pantographs, stationary and retractable rods are used to place clothes. The choice of this or that device depends on the overall ergonomics of the dressing room. That is, in some case, it will be more efficient and convenient to use a retractable bar, and in another - a hanged lift (it is also called a pantograph). If there are a lot of clothes that need to be stored on a hanger, a stationary bar may be better suited. The permissible load on it can reach 22 kg. The retractable bar can hold up to 16 kg.

The weight that a pantograph can support is highly dependent on its size. So, with a length of 0.8-1 m, up to 15 kg can be placed on it, and only 7-8 kg can be placed on a hanger-lift more than a meter.

Based on the fact that the compartment for outerwear should have a height of at least 1.2 m, and for shirts and jackets - 0.85 m, the use of a pantograph will help to correctly distribute everything. If jackets and coats are placed in a compartment with a stationary bar, and the pantograph is hung in another compartment, then the remaining space under the shirts can be left under drawers or shelves.

Generally speaking, distributing the hanger compartments is a challenging and challenging task. It should be borne in mind that the distance between outerwear should be 10 cm, the gap between shirts and jackets should be about 7-8 cm, and between dresses - 9 cm.Therefore, here it is necessary to proceed from personal needs and consider different combinations of all three devices.

For compact storage of trousers and skirts, folding hangers with tubular crossbars inside the frame are designed. These devices come in different widths. They can be attached to the side of the cabinet.

Clothes boxes can have a solid bottom, perforated bottom, or be in the form of a net. The last two options provide better ventilation of the contents.

Shoe shelves can be placed both in the closet and separately from it. They are:

  • stationary and retractable;
  • straight or inclined with a heel holder;
  • with side-dividers;
  • with a closed or ventilated bottom.

Selection Tips

Before choosing one or another type of furniture, first of all, it is necessary to assess the volume, weight and nature of the contents of the dressing room. Then determine the place where it will be located. If this is a niche that can be fenced off with doors, a cabinet and modular system will do. If the space for the dressing room needs to be fenced off, then the cabinet is better suited to reduce material and other costs.Its outer part can be decorative.

In a small apartment, if there is not enough space, an open panel structure can become a way out. To preserve aesthetics, clothes can be packed in identical covers, and decorative boxes, boxes and baskets can be used for other things. The modular system fits perfectly into a rented apartment. It can be easily dismantled when moving. You can fence it off from prying eyes using a screen.

When choosing a particular type of structure, it is also necessary to take into account the weight of what will be stored in it. The most reliable in this regard will be case systems.

It should also be remembered that all types of structures can be combined with each other depending on living conditions, material capabilities and personal needs.
